Stump Grinding North Lakes
We were called to remove some Yukka’s that had outgrown their surroundings and were pushing retaining walls over.
This is a regular occurrence with Yukka.
We had a few obstacles to avoid, and a reasonable narrow access to the pergola area in the back yard.
We could only get so much of the stumps in the tighter areas, and had to dig the remainder out with hand tools, to ensure there was no grow back.
We had a little helper, watch the full video to see.

      @@nicolemoio2136 there are many variables as to how long a cluster takes to be ground, including both the size of the cluster, and the size of the machine grinding the cluster. The species of Bamboo, and the soil type both also affect grind duration.

      Thanks for noticing there isn't a cover fitted. The biggest issue here is personal safety. The machine wasn't fitted with a cover when we purchased it, and is being run without it during the testing phase. We are looking at upgrading the cover system, and converting the machine back to poly chain as the manufacturer had intended it to be. If you look closely you will see that this machine is fitted with a double row chain drive, and not a Vee Belt. Thanks for watching.

      Hello, there should definitely be closed protection over the chain drives. Think that the chain drive is much better than the V-belt. Many Rayco cutters complain that the V-belts don't last long. However, chain drives should be lubricated. Greetings

      @Northsidestumpgrinding หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rosewood7794 I think the chain is harder on the rest of the system than a belt drive. It is not the ideal environment for a chain as it is high load, in a dusty environment. @@daviddonahue1862 hey there, thanks for watching. We have two older Raycos, each with over 3000hrs. Reliability is subjective, as maintenance is key. Older machines have had the best taken out of them, and it is only a matter of time before something fails. In twenty years. When you put the grub screw/s back in the collar loctite them. If they vibrate loose and the bearing spins on shaft you won’t know till you need to have the shaft braised. Good job! Great video! Have thought about getting one of those in the past. Another great grinder I just purchased was a Dosko 20hp version, I had a 2021 Vermeer SC30 track machine, was awesome, sold it …for almost the same price I bought it for because of inflation and low hours and now the Dosko is my big grinder. Grinds fast for a handlebar grinder, almost as fast as the track 30, more man handling though. Blessings

      Thank you. They are definitely worth their weight, and sometimes the only machine that can get into some places. Very laborious however. When it comes to handlebars, the bigger the engine, the better. We run a 27HP Stump Humper, which helps keep us out of the Gym lol We looked at an SC30, and found it to be heavy and wide for the HP potential, we also felt it was difficult to see what was happening from the control station. In saying that I have heard they are really good. Happy grinding.

    I would even say this should be common policy, anything you can do to minimize what you might track from potentially diseased trees (fungus, parasites, common reasons a tree had to come down in the first place) you have ground down, into areas where there may be healthy trees in the future, is a good thing.

      I agree 100%, I appreciate your feedback. I can also help prevent the spread and colonisation of such insects as Termites and Fireants. It is also a good time to look over the machine to help spot any potential maintenance issues that may arise.

    The cut isn't deep enough. Nothing will grow there.

      Thanks for your feedback, we appreciate it. We made sure we removed the entire stump by getting right underneath it. You are right in saying nothing will grow there. The property owner is building a new deck over the area.

      @@Northsidestumpgrinding Thank you for your response. I assumed that the job was done at the end of the video. Evidently, it was not. I am currently writing a story about stump removal way back in the olden days of horses and mules. You have no idea how hard it was!

      @@scottadler I stull have to remove some with hand tools under certain circumstances. The job was completed at the end of the video. This was not a tree, it was a Bird of Paradise, so more like a Palm in make up, lots of fine finger roots. I would like to read your story.

      It wasn't too bad mate, The only challenge was getting far enough under the fence to be able to reach the rest from the other side, and working around the concrete from the car port post support. Im not entirely sure why the original operator thought they had done a satisfactory job and left. I originally told the client to call back the operator to complete their work, to which the property owner replied "Their phone number has been disconnected, and we were not impressed by any part of their work, attitude, or behaviour so we don't want them back!" Enough said . . .
