Really great video. I have a tip to wrap tins. Plant grafting tape. Its a clear stretchy roll of clingfilm (saran wrap?). I use it to wrap petri dishes for mycology, its a cheap alternative to lab grade parafilm. Its thin, clear (barely visible on the tin), stretches and sticks to itself and leaves no residue. Can also be reused. Thanks again

If you were to use nasal snuff instead of whole leaf tobacco, would I need to add salt and sodium carbonate? If I can use nasal snuff, what plain snuff would I be better using for this recipe? Whole leaf tobacco is expensive and hard to source in the UK.

What about non tobacco snuff like Dholakia?

Pro-tip 1: Instead of using Whisky (extra cost) you can obviously go only with water as a solvent. Salt will act as a preservative in 'the product'. Of course proper air tight storage at low temperatures acts as an additional preservative. Pro-tip 2 : While making soda-salt-water-solution, without whisky, make sure to completely dissolve salt in the water first. Only then You should add soda (or potash) and whisk it only to the point where all the visible soda clumps are completely dissolved. Reason for adding salt before soda is that salt dissolves poorly at high pH and would require a lot of excessive whisking, which would degrade alkalinity of the solution, and therefore the final strength of the product. Pro-tip 3 : After soda has been whisked into the salty water, solution may get somewhat milky color because of the impurities found in tap water and rock salt, which I use. Apparently it's important to avoid using milky-solution, even though there's absolutely no danger to human health while doing so - it apparently only makes difference in the final taste. Easiest way to prevent the solution from getting milky-color would be to use chemically pure H2O and NaCl. Can't obtain those easily, so I follow the steps of large manufacturer from a century ago, who kept excessive amounts of the solution air-tight and undisturbed (i.e. by moving or shaking it) for a few days for it to clarify itself. Then You 'scoop' desired amount of the solution from the top of large container into the smaller container, leaving the precipitate behind (in the same way wine gets clarified and decanted during production). Pro-tip 4 : After kneading the product, leave it for about 1-3 days in an air-tight container at the room temperature for rapid maturation, before putting it into the fridge and freezer for additional maturation and storage. I find it beneficial to finely crumble, even sieve the product in the middle of maturation, because it speeds up flavor release in the mouth. That's why I find it important to generally use fine T-flour.

When i first got Celtic Talisman in i did not care for it. After the ammonia cooked off it was pretty good. I usually like ammonia but it makes a strange accord with this snuff. Kinda like with apricots.

I'm still quite new to snuffs and enjoy the different flavours but I'm finding the pure tobacco varieties really hit the spot, especially if it's a bit barnyard manure smelling. Thanks for the review, I have been surfing the channel and it's been a great help in understanding tobacco snuff and snus. Oh it's Celtic with a soft C if it's the association football club from Glasgow. This may be a cause for some peoples mispronunciation as they may first be introduced to this word through sports channels. All the best

I kinda like this snuff, but It's very mild to me and only lasts for a short time,, that's my only problem with it... I feel sorry for you that you lost your firedance lol, I've been watching alot of your videos lately, i love how close you are to the camera it makes it personal and asif your a connoisseur with lots of knowledge, you do have the knowledge, it's a good setup 👍

If you like sandalwood you should try 6 Photo's Mysore Sandalwood snuff, it is really good (and the aroma lasts a looooong time as well). Dholakia's sandalwood snuff is also quite nice, the tobacco is a bit darker than 6 Photo sandalwood. Definitely two to try if you like the scent of sandalwood! Always enjoy your reviews man! I'm probably going to order some Cape Town while I still can, as I love rooibos. Cheers!

Huffen'Snuff I just got done milling up 5.8g sodium carbonate 15 g Burley Air Cured 60 g Virginia Sun Cured 25 g Izmir It turned out ok, but to add the salt I want to mix it with water and let it all soak for a while to soak the sodium carbonate into the flour. then I will dry, grind, sieve. This was all made from WLT

How would you make it closer to say Grizzly or Kodiak? I’d imagine adding wintergreen flavor to it, but those don’t have that same tang as Cope
