Looks a good buy there Liam, good luck with the build. Cheers Bob 👍
@@greybeardmodels many thanks Bob, I hope you’re well? Cheers Liam
Hi Liam, I also built this kit in the 1960s (badly) but at least it had my young brain trying to figure out the build process. I think I got it because it had a turret like a bomber but I couldn't afford a bomber on my pocket money, happy days, cheers.
@@StevenPotts-ij9ue ha ha Steven great story, thanks for dropping in, cheers Liam.
Nice one Liam, I'm glad it's a new tool. 😃I built this kit back in the 1960's from the original tooling, I recall it was tricky for a youngster 🙄 Looking forward to see how it all works out. Cheers Bob
@@greybeardmodels cheers Bob - i have to say the fit is fantastic!🤣 lovely build.
Looking pretty good Liam all you need now is the RUC land rover Smith field sells them 👍👍
@@seamybmw at 1/35 scale?
@@ljscalemodels526 He get them from a guy on Face Book right up to 1/24 scale seen them on E bay also 👍👍
Very interesting Liam have that kit but haven't got around to it yet those masks look good fro the job 👍👍
@@seamybmw cheers seamy, a bit more practice with them I think.
Wow, that's a beast of a kit and certainly not a quick build but I hope that you enjoy making it, cheers Liam.
@@StevenPotts-ij9ue thanks Steven - yeah it’s a monster 😉
This will be an awesome big project. Mega cool!
@@DutchDaveModels thanks Dave, I hope to use it in a dio 👍🏽

The U-boot on the box art is U-96. From the film Das Boot, based from a true story, also a very great book

That's a great price you got it for.
@@WhataboutTRUTH thanks - i thought so too🤣
Ive owned many ferrets in my time. They are nice to drive. The steering wheel takes some getting used to and the pre select of the transmission.
Hurts when the GCP flies back and hits you in the shin 😳, or you change down two gears by mistake
@@K1NGM4S1V nice one, thanks for your comment
When I was in the army I spent some time in Cyprus in a barracks shared with some tankies equipped with Ferrets and Saracens, one night these ne'er-do-wells pinched our ornamental WW1 captured German Maxim MG and ransomed it! We got it back but we couldn't let it rest there so we snurgled into their compound and painted one of their Ferrets a beautiful shade of shocking pink. I'm tempted to recreate that in 1/35 scale using this kit.
ha ha what a brilliant story, thanks for looking in, cheers Liam
Saladins, not Saracens.
looks good. I did the airfix 1/24 one...
@@STPOBB thank you, wow big scale.
Great result in the end, that'll look great on display. Well done mate. 👍

Got this in my stash, we had them as troop commanders vehicles during the 1991 Gulf war, they were retired shortly after. My aim is to scratch build the interior detail also.
@@siwatts1284 hi siwatts thanks for the info I didn’t realise they where still operating up to the 90’s. Good luck with the internal build, that’ll be brilliant to see, cheers Liam
Nice one Liam, I got tempted but still building WW2 stuff. Look forward to seeing how you get on. Be well mate. 😃👍

I’ve that kit in my stash. Your info will be helpful with the build. Thank you. 😊
You're welcome, enjoy the build and thanks for dropping in.
Liam, One of my favourite aeroplanes, the Mk 4. The 'cute' yellow diamond, by the way, was fitted to aircraft during the earlier portion of the war, I suppose before confidence grew that the Axis Forces were not about to launch chemical attacks. These panels were Gas Detection Panels and were fitted where a crew member could see it and warn them of the possibility of contamination. They were, I imagine, a similar thing to the panels that we fitted to our NBC (or CBRN as it became) Suits during the Cold War and would alter colour in the event of chemical contamination. In the case of single seat fighters, they were situated out on the mainplane, so that it could be checked by the pilot whilst flying and the ground crew, on the ground.
@@doddsy2978 hey Dorsey, many thanks for the explanation that’s very helpful. 🤣
good to know about the issues with the kit, still probably will get one because I love the Mk4, Think its that strange nose
Turned out really nice! Airfix has definetely upped their game during the last couple of years.Btw i am uploading modelling content on my rc channel, check it out if you like.Have a great day and keep on modelling!😀

How’s things Liam, I’m a new subscriber; but really enjoying the content! I’m fairly new to scale modelling and could do with a few pointers on airbrush setup, and use. Is this something you would do a video on? Thanks!
Welcome aboard 😂 and many thanks for subscribing and your kind comments Boxcar. Yeah, i guess i could have a go at perhaps putting something together in the future, I’m still learning 😂. However, in the meantime there are a number of tutorial videos out there. Try Model-kit Stuff channel, he has some very useful videos on airbrushing and setup, paint mixing etc, or try Nigels Modelling Bench, these guys have been around for a while and know their stuff. I hope that is of some assistance, BTW work are you working on atm? Regards Liam
That’s good to hear, I’ll have a look at those recommendations. Should be a big help! As for me I’ve a back log of models bought and I’m really just working my way through some older tamiya 1:35s and just looking to get the painting up to the next level!
