Wow. Excellent dynamically and the timbre of the blend is unreal for a live sound. 👏 Seriously. I'm unsure if the perceived sound is primarily due to mic placement --- but that too needs to be noted for tasteful management. All around excellence. World leadership.

I think that there are many people in the world that are suffering severe injustices due to systemic oppression…racism, inequality. There is mental and physical illness, while treatable, never go away and can be life long. Some people seem to suffer decade after decade with loss, loneliness and illness. I think most rational, somewhat mature human beings can understand that life will involve a certain amount of disappointment, pain and thwarted plans. However, when it becomes a chronic state, it becomes chronic suffering. This is where contemplative Christianity can be loddy doddy, hippie dippy, airy fairy, pie in the sky, and unrelatable. It would be great if things could be so easy but no, for many it’s more complex.

How can silence be the first language of God? If he had not spoken, there would be no instruction and no means to use the tongue (lange in French, hence language) which must be used with air from your lungs and mouth formations in unison! Silence brings no instruction! Spelling on the other hand brings about spells, like those of witches and magicians which affect the mind by changing the spelling and thus change the spell on the mindset! Changing spelling then, changes the spell cast! Words and spelling of them is a fallacy, since language is all about sounds you make to describe something, therefore people use letters to imitate the sound, which is not silence! So written formation of words are individual and pertinent to how you have heard the sound uttered! Each perceives the writing to sound, based upon your own personal experience in life, which differs from person to person and according to any local dialect! Written words are therefore the perception of how the word should sound! Silence therefore would give no clue and cannot be a language! Never would a word have been written if it were not sounded first!

What amazing amazing sermon: the preacher says a story in the Bible is simply ...untrue. That's begs the question, "what else that doesn't agree with science is untrue in the holy scriptures???"

[I KNOW THIS IS A LITTLE BIT LONG BUT DEAN WILLIS' WORDS CALLED FOR A RESPONSE FROM WITHIN MY SOUL.] Dean Willis' admonition for a spiritual backpack that would include hymns-both text and tune-as well as favorite prayers and bible texts proved to be more than essential to me. I didn't know that I actually had a "spiritual backpack". And I'm probably posting this late enough that nobody else will see this and read it. Maybe this is cathartic. On the night and into the early morning hours of October 8-9 In 2017 I lost my home and all that I owned to the Tubbs Fire that swept through Santa Rosa. Twelve hours later: Although I risked being tasered, arrested, and questioned later, I began a walk back into what had been an enclave of upper middle-class homes. I was unprepared for the desolation; annihilation; total destruction. It was worse than Hiroshima. The air was raw with the stench of smoke that was choking, coming from a combination of melted steel beams, rubber, blacktop, melted cars, housing materials, and many other elements. Everything was gray--the ground, the hills, the sky--with the exception being innumerable small fires escaping from broken/melted gas lines. It was the loudest silence I have ever experienced. No cars, no winds, no birds, no people. Everything wreaked of death. I was very alone in this moment--until I began my walk. From within came fragments of hymns, every step another phrase: "A Mighty For-" "O God our he-", "Great is thy faith..", "If Thou But Suffer-", "and though this world with devils fil-", "..morning by morning new mercies I..." "God's truth abideth still". These "flashes" accompanied every step. My response was engrained and a very natural recollection. Still walking--and the destruction so disorienting that I walked by the lot where a house once stood on a corner--three times--before I was certain that this was where my home had been standing 12 hours earlier. Although I was alone, I knew that I wasn't alone. A calm swept over me in ways never experienced before or since. The gray overhead was becoming darker. Still no daylight. Time didn't mean anything, walking in deafening silence. I turned west and for a very few moments the previously hidden sun gave the western sky colors beyond description or imagination. Then...one last thing came through with great clarity--Balfour Gardiner's "Evening Hymn". It was so profound. I could not move: "Thee Lord, we call at close of day, Maker of all things, thee we pray, to guard and guide us in thy way....Banish the dreams that terrify, and night's fantastic company...protect us from Satan's tyranny..." and then the most incomparably beautiful "Amen" ever composed faded to nothing. As the music was fading the sunset also continued to fade. There is no way I could not have made this walk through the fire alone. My Christian faith and a rock-solid knowledge of great hymns of the faith served a need beyond that which I never knew I would need. In these hymns faith, hope, love and an inexplicable inner composure were all within my grasp. I had what I needed for a crisis. All of my bibles, hymnals, and prayer books were in ashes somewhere beneath my gnarled and bent steel roof. BUT I HAD MY SPIRITUAL BACKPACK. I COULD NOT HAVE POSSIBLY MADE THIS JOURNEY WITHOUT SUCH A RESOURCE. [I never had a term for it and Dean Willis' words nearly bored a hole through my solar plexus...I didn't have a name for it but now I do.] With the rebuild process looming, I had no idea how many more times these bastions of the faith would still be needed. Although I moved back into the rebuilt house exactly two years after loss, the rebuild wasn't completed until just a few weeks ago. I anticipate a group of friends coming for a house blessing. The liturgist tells me that we will start with "Christ Is Made the Sure Foundation". AND ABOVE ALL, IF SHARING MY STORY INSPIRES ONLY ONE PERSON TO BEGIN BUILDING OR ADDING TO THEIR SPIRITUAL BACKPACK, THEN IT WAS WORTH THE TIME I TOOK TO WRITE OF MY VERY PERSONAL YET STILL VERY PAINFUL STORY. Pax.
