Field Tests - High Energy Biscuits
In a survival situation especially in the first 72 hours keeping you energy up is crucial to being able to set up shelter, signals, finding water and food. Recently the guys at Survival Storehouse sent me some high energy biscuits to test out. Here is my review.

Thanks spud that's something I never knew. ❤
@@daleedwards9537 it's funny how simple things like eating and drinking utensils are often overlooked but can have a great impact
great stuff mate
@@Next72Hours cheers brother
@@SurvivalHowTobasics I was sure I had already commented perhaps that was Facebook lol feel like I'm losing my mind half the time
@@Next72Hours ha ha it gets like that when you are on multiple socials
How dry are they? Do you need a decent amount of water to get them down?
I'm not gonna lie they are dry but they aren't too bad. I eat them without water pretty easy.
Hope you can get back out bush soon bro
thanks for your tips. Where are you from?
I am from the south west of western Australia
Interesting plant, dry dead ones make incredible tinder too.
That they do..
Great plant, great video!
Nice job, that should work well enough. Would it or could it have been possible to put the small strands piercing the sheath cord so they dont move around so much? Could the bottom edge be sheath as well, to sort of frame the whole thing? Might make reopening it easier.
Thanks. Yes all those suggestions will work and even improve on the net. I chose the basic design as it is a starting point so not to be too complicated for those who are starting out learning survival skills and have never done one before in an emergency but if you have the time and the resources you can modify it many ways
@@SurvivalHowTobasics You inspired me to try one, so thanks for that. Got about halfway done. Having issues with the joining knots, sometimes I get one to lock other times its … tie a couple more overhands. I need to keep practicing!
The purification process wasn't finis yet. The water is still yellow and have on the top some mosquito's larva. You didn't know about purification process and water at all my friend.
Thanks for that but I could have left that sit all day and it would still have been yellow as the puribag purification chemical doesnt remove tannins it just kills bacteria, viruses and parisites .. and as for the tannins and everything else that may be in the water.. you must have missed when I stated that there is a charcoal filter and screen behind the spout that takes care of any particulates or insects that may still be in there. Buy one, try it and see..
This guy should try drinking decaf.
You mean brown sadness water
Good job mate glad to know its a doable task here in WA not just a cold weather thing hey
Its very doable and not a huge caloric expenditure. took me half an hour to build this.
@SurvivalHowTobasics definitely worth knowing then
You should still boil it.
What's your gear list?
My gear list varies depending on where I am going. for this particular video I only carried my basics, to the best of my recollection these items were 1x Sala international Australian army field pack 3x knives 1 fixed blade, 1 swiss army knife 1 chopper 1x tiny stove burner (camp fires were not allowed) my survival kit ( see my other videos on this ) 1x folding saw 1x folding shovel 1x pair gloves 1x spare socks 1x water bottle 1x lifestraw assorted filming equipment, batteries, tripods
Molotov cocktail is a dangerous tool.
They sure are, but im not sure what they have to do with making a gill net from paracord
50 likes for Spud to drink from the bottom of the bag 😂
Needs to be more prepared.
hey, thanks for the feedback but could you elaborate on what you mean ?
Very thorough video. Great work
it is zib
Hey Zib, how are you buddy.
hay spud could you please test the kea moudler survival kit
Sure, once I can get my hands on one I will definitely do a review
Good guide, thank you man
Glad you enjoyed!
We’ll done. Thank you, very helpful.
Thanks mate.
Awesome thanks , excellent advice
Thankyou, I hope you never have to use it.
Need a close up of bait stick/ trigger stick etc. Cheers.
I appreciate you going through the most basic of stuff for everyone. Most of us will barely have our heads together if we're trapped in the wild, and keeping it simple has great value. Thank you.
Hey, Thankyou, I am glad you liked the video. Hopefully you will never have to use anything I teach but it is handy to know how.
My bonnet doesn't stay up lol
My old car had that problem.. I used to just prop it up with a hiking pole lol
Lol I'll get some new struts eventually
Top!
Nicely done. I've watched several snare making videos, but that seemed to be the most intuitive. Thank you.
Good videos. Thank you for the insights!
Interesting ta 👍🏼
Subbed. Thanks 👍🏼
thanks
you would starve.
And why do you say that? Yes this trap is large and over exaggerated, that is so that it shows on camera, realistically where I live the trap would be smaller and alot more of them but I also know my way around foraging so I don't think I would. Or, I would just use my bow.
@@SurvivalHowTobasics Check out "The Meat Trapper" on youtube. He is the best with snares I've seen.
thanks, I will check him out.
The moojar is a sacred tree steeped in tradition How about learn the real reason it’s called a Christmas tree and elaborate on that.
While my education on the subject is limited to what will keep you alive in a survival situation I would welcome it for you to educate me on the subject
Nuytsia Floribunda is one of my favourite plants in Australia.
Thats a very big loop. What would you be trapping for? Or maybe its just for example.
It's mainly for ease of viewing just like the white wire but a loop that size I would probably be going for things like fox, wild dog, smallish roos. depending on where I am and what animals around will determine what size snare I will use
@@SurvivalHowTobasics ok got it. Thanks.
Concise presentation, well done. And a truly practical container, unlike all the Altoids tin kits.
Thankyou .
Good video , enjoying your FB page as well
Thankyou
Good video mate. What sort of air temp does it need to be? Will this method work in english temperatures with a bit of sun or only in tropical places. Cheers pal
The cooler it is the slower it will work but as long as you put it in direct sunlight the greenhouse effect will still work
I like it , thanks
Thanks mate
Great video mate
Thankyou.
Thank you for the video I enjoyed it. All so try potassium magnate plus sugar, then have a stick 1 cm thick about 4 to 5 cm long mix then push stick & rub , pressure & friction will cause and ignite the potassium & auger . This was a Airforce Cadet trick taught by a Vietnam Veteran. Great Man
We use pine sap and deer or rabbit dung in the States.
Ah yep pine sap is great for alot of things.. unfortunately where I live you won't find pine trees unless in a tree farm.. it's a shame really because they make nice straight logs too.
nice vid spud...Do one on bush tucker:]
Thats amazing!!!
Thankyou 😁
Helpful video - I had never seen the whistle trick. Very cool!
Hi, thankyou.. I'm glad you learned something new
Cotton ball and Vaseline lasts longer than cotton ball on its own.
Thanks for commenting, yes they make a great tinder that is water resistant. I will be making a video on making tinder kits
I've been using out of date expired hand sanitiser.
Those Mongrel boots? Great video, thanks for not cutting the part with the ferro rod, I always feel like a bit of a Muppet when I try to start a fire with one after watching the survival videos. You should do a "survival showdown" or some such with this guy he's also from around the way. th-cam.com/users/devilrocksgaming
Nah not mongrels, they are jackeroos.. no worries I have found that in alot of videos about the subject of fire lighting they never truly show how long and how much effort goes into making a fire..
Cheers for the informative vid Spud!!
Thankyou..
