    No real diagnosis here I am afraid little mention the importance of establishing progression. According to BRE Digest 251 “It is the cause of the damage and whether it will be progressive that is of great concern.” All a bit superficial.

    I am thinking to study for a surveying degree. I am interested doing property management and real estate. As a property surveyor can I do full structural survey or I need a building surveying degree for that??

    3:17 The cracking and subsidence and spalled (crumbling) bricks are caused by that outside tap allowing the ground to stay constantly moist in that area. As there's no drainage beneath it so it saturated the soil and on winter causes frost heave of the saturated ground. It's why everything originating around that tap is knackered.

    Trees should never be cut down due to artificial buildings, the building should be removed instead or fixed as trees are our life support on this planet and should have rights where humans are not allowed to remove them by law!

    Should you trust a gentleman surveyor in suit and tie dressed for the boardroom . Unlikely to get down and dirty to search and probe ? Just an observation.

      In the first instance get yourself a copy of Building Research Establishment Digest 251 (Assessment of damage in low-rise buildings). This way you will be ahead of the game and far less easy to fool.

    Shouldn’t surveyors check the electric and alarm systems while doing a full structure survey?

    • @av8r.007
      @av8r.007 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We do a visual check on the electrics as well as using a loop tester on the power sockets. Only a EICR will tell a buyer if the electrics are in overall good safe condition and these are done by electricians. We test smoke alarms but not intruder alarms.

    • @shahilagh

      @@av8r.007 yes. I recently paid for a full structure survery and I found all the information as visual. and everything that needed checking- except damp!- was advised to do myself. amazing. even the surveyor that is a famous company said we didnt check this and that because of Covid instructions. then why you charge me full ? even post office doesn't do when they cant attend to all their 9 am deliveries. overall, I found the survey doesn't worth it and any buyer with careful attention to 'visual' details can do it themselves.

    The one I got my eye on is double glazed, so no problems there. It has been modernised beyond all the nice Victorian features on the inside though.

    them meters are a joke you should know better you take samples of core of material and weight it and do humidtiy test of sample using them specialist moisture humidity gauging vessel the meters ain't they go off on even dry walls when no damp present and no work required and trick people into expensive works not needed

    We have Party walls in the US and I wouldnt do any of those things unless the structure was in some kind of durress or danger. people insist in randomly hammering stuff into the party wall at the risk of possibley damaging an adjoining property with no concern of anything other than making money. So this video is not really helpful in explaining anything other than serving papers trying to do work and get money to do work. The other half of this is possibly being sued or attacked by an angry nieghbor from damage or hammering on the party wall.
