Camp among giant Cedar trees along the Clearwater river in north Idaho!
มุมมอง 3245 หลายเดือนก่อน
In this video we look at a great camping area in north central Idaho along the North fork of the clearwater river. Along the river are groves of massive old growth Cedar trees. Many dispersed campsites are nestled among these giants that provide a ton of shade and a pleasant cedar scent! These are some great sites to relax and enjoy nature. #nature #idaho #nationalforest #cedargrove #clearwater...

There are other places in this region that have giant cedars, but no roads to them. I hope to car camp to Superior, drive to St. Regis and then cross back into Idaho. But first I will drive the Nee Mi Poo Trail, the closest you can drive on for where Lewis and Clark went. It goes basically from Kamiah on the 500 road to Lolo Pass. After I get there, I will go west on Highway 12 until I get to the road that goes south to Hoodoo Lake and the Elk Meadows Guard station. From here there are some great hikes to Kooskooski Meadow and Graves Peak. My wife and I hiked to Diablo Peak and lookout tower where you can see the Selway River which is one of the two forks of the middle fork of the Clearwater River. The Cedars are in Clearwater County, just north of the county I live in, Idaho County. Lots to see in this area but there are some rough roads. Another good trip is to east on Highway 14 from Grangeville to Elk City and then across the Bitterroots to Montana on the McGruder Corrider and then go north to Darby. 5 miles from Darby is Como Lake, one of the prettiest lakes I have ever seen and I have seen a lot of lakes. Then go north to Lolo, Montana where you join Highway 12 and back to Kamiah, Idaho. Along the way is The Locksa Historic Ranger Station. I never get tired of going there.

I enjoyed the journey. Was finding fuel along the way easy enough? I've got a gas powered Grand Cherokee and have considered making trips like this. Do you have any videos about building your camp trailer? Thanks for the views. 😊

The road into Leslie Gulch is fine for a car all the way to the boat launch. Roads branching off of the main road are really not suitable for cars though.
