Various rambles of an MBTI-obsessed ENFP about non-obvious extrapolations and tantalizingly axiomatic near-truths ;-) derived from silly-seeming, patterned, objective, social doings and self-revelations of hundreds of people -- particularly of the eight iNtuitive types -- as seen through the lens of this personality typology model, over 25 years.
If you'd like to discuss any difficulties you may be having with self-typing or if you'd like to talk about anything interpersonal as relates to type, such as relations at work, at home, with family, in dating, I now offer 1-hour or longer Google Hangout consultations at reasonable rates.
If you'd like a consultation, please write me at enid.f.patternson@gmail.com.
In your message, please tell me a little bit about what type-related issue I can help you with.

(3/4) Types snap into focus for ESFJ and her friend
Much doubt suddenly dissipates as to certain key elements of their types in Part 3 of 4 when Jo and ESFJ Chelsea recount a story from the day before in which stark differences between one's dominant decision-making ("judging," "rational") cognitive function and the other's auxiliary one are revealed.
In the last video of the series, I'll comment on which things they spoke of that I think were whole (MBTI) type and Jungian cognitive-functional differentiators of various 'weights' vs. descriptions that were inconsequential or unclear per typing.
I hope you've been enjoying making your own observations and guesses about what will be the outcome of this IRL discussion, as more bits and pieces of it are shared.

In this Part 2 of 4 of a spontaneous self-typing discussion, ESFJ Chelsea and ExxP Jo share your self-typing pain! Chelsea carries on from where she left off in Part 1, talking about why she likes her 'wild' best friends so much, then she and Jo enter into the messy business of trying to allay doubts that they're "extroverts." In the last video of the series, I'll comment on which things they s...

In the last video (4) of the series, I'll comment on which things they said I thought were highly differentia...
How to read ISTJ // INTJ facial expressions
มุมมอง 8K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Between ISTJs' dominant cognitive function of Si and INTJs' dominant Ni, there's a world of difference in mind. But, wow, do they both ever like practical shoes; have startlingly frank and intense gazes, and does the emotive conveyance of one type's face ever tend to be as like a foggy day on Easter Island as the other's!

I have 92% judging and I have ADD. I love cleaning and being organized, so if my room gets a little cluttered I can easily clean it. Maybe Santa Claus is an judger with ADHD. Cuz he has a list and checks it twice. 😂
Thanks for the video,I was saying in my mind that I have another badass part in me which is very dangerous and your video appeared. You described the personality type's aspect very well ❤
Oh you just mentioned Elliot Smith. Man, what a sensitive soul. So painful to watch sometimes-interviews. His lyrics. Sooooo good.
I know I’m a genius. I am x
My issue as an INFP is that when I pace and speak slow and low, I'm rarely heard. Then a loud mouth comes along and says the same thing, all of a sudden it's groundbreaking to those who listen. That makes my heart sink.
I am an ENFP AND IVE BEDN TO DARKEST CORNERS OF HELL ON EARTH !
What type are you?
TiNe produces similar behavior to NiTe. FiNe produces similar behavior to NiFe. The best way to distinguish between the options is by assessing the tertiary function. Unfortunately, each of these types is blind to their counterpart’s tertiary function. To make things harder, the tertiary function in these types is introverted which makes it hard to discern. And to add another layer of difficulty, the third function often isn’t developed much until well into adulthood. Finally, the J vs P dichotomy is deceptive for IXXX’s. J vs P is about whether you like to have things settled or if you like to have options IN THE OUTSIDE WORLD. But IXXXs live their lives mostly in their internal worlds. Introverted judging dominant IXXPs are actually more judgmental in their real (internal) lives than introverted perceiving dominant IXXJs are in their real (internal) lives. Once you account for the fact that their real lives are mostly internal, IXXPs are far more judgmental in the colloquial sense than IXXJs. The MBTI nomenclature ends up being misleading in this case. With all of these hurdles, self-recognition between INTP and INTJ or between INFP and INFJ is inherently difficult.
It's mostly Perfectionism for INFJs.
Someone I think of as ENFJ resembles your description of ambitious, sociable, incredibly put-together. I haven't noticed how she is in a leadership context. I asked if she wanted to teach dance because she is a talented dancer, but she isn't set on that idea. I pick up on hints that she pushes herself extremely hard, and people don't realize that she gives everything she has to make things happen maybe because she is so competent that she makes it look easy. Mostly I notice that everybody wants her attention. She thinks she is just "doing the rounds" but attention from her teleports me into a cozy and recognized state of mind. It doesn't last long because she has other people to interact with. I do my best to enjoy it while it lasts, and not get selfish or insecure because I want more of her attention. I am not sure if anybody envies her abilities, or resents her influence over people; but I think people are likely to covet her attention, and it is unfair to her because she's just being her extraordinary self, and tries her utmost to keep everybody comfortable and invested in themselves.
I think a lot of Jonnys problem was the toxic relationship. I'm guessing their personalities clashed as well.
I am an ENFP And I can Identify with u
Excellent video, thank you
7 years later... And a lot of people still dont understand this
Wasnt johnny depp types as entp?
INTJ's for sure have come off with this "root chakra" energy if you know what I mean haha 7:06 There is an INFJ kpop idol that just somehow gets my fire going. Could be the Aries energy we both have and I'm not much of a "root chakra" person I'm more crown so when insticts like that come up it surprises me but I think because I'm an INTP I love intellectuals who know where they are going.
It is actually partially because of that occasional ridicule from certain types that leads to the ever more guarded INFP type. Do you realize how many times that kind of experience has happened to an INFP? The challenge of being unique is the pang of loneliness.
Infps graduate from idealism the hard way. It needs to happen in order for them to grow and gain a real and natural self confidence.
Thank you for this! Every type has its negative stereotypes, but INFPs are often quite hard on themselves, too. Personal notes: [3:00] The complete willingness to be out-of-step with the group because to them, the most important thing for them to live up to, are the ideals they've determined worth striving for. [5:28] They're weighing things up against their values, all the time. [6:05] they will keep their own counsel to a much greater extent than most, as to what's important + what they like. They will be really unapologetic about doing things their way. [10:00] Will not avoid discomfort if it means being able to better honor a subject they care about. Makes sure to voice fully on the subject.
why am i like this i dont like it
As a classic textbook INFP, I just figure most people won't understand (or value) most of what I have to offer to a conversation, so why stop to explain it? My knowledge was experience-gained. If you didn't share in the experience and development of what I believe, then how can I explain it? What's the point? Also, I feel a calling to go against the grain almost everytime. If I see a bunch of sheep following some extrovert's "bullshit and bravado", I can become the most outspoken person in the room in a minute. I hate hierarchy's denial of the individual. I will cut it down and call it out for what it is every time. People need to develop themselves uniquely. If they don't, if they just accept some preexisting mold that's handed to them, then they're deluding themselves. How can you commit to anything if you can't bother to figure out where you stand, who you are, what your values are, etc? You're just wandering through life, pitched and tossed on the waves of other people's desires, ripe for the taking. It's depressing to witness all the poor sheeple of the world being used because they have no true will of their own. And if you try to follow me, I'll put you off really quickly.
I dosify this video for only those moments when I REALLY need it.
Great video.
We would make good secret agents. Special agent 007 reporting. Where are the rest of my comrades at?! 🤣🤣
Im an INTJ with auDHD (I have a diagnosis) life is pain xd
YES there, video done
7 years later, ADHD aside, are you aware that (from the 4-5 videos I have watched), you repeat the same thing in 3 different ways, before ever touching the topic: generally this is yoir opinion, from your subjective experience, and not generaliable to all people... but you say it with so many extra words that it leaves my brain screaming *Get To The Fricken Point, Please!!!" It isnt just tangeanty... its you dancimg around the topic, clarifying for 5 minutes, the same things. Drives me nuts. Except that, I use this to help me fall sleep.
At 1:29 it keeps pausing and replaying like a needle stuck. Freaking weird!
😳
Welcome to the matrix ❤
I hope I was a Fi user, so I can feel indipendently 😣
I've a question please, What did u mean of "the fi notices the underdog"
We see them for who they are
What's the video's title of the video that talks of the clothing type of inxj?
When I try to talk: I look up or I just lag for seconds, imagining my thoughts and how I want to talk about it, but then when I try to get out the things I see in my imagination, I get stuck, that I'm saying "ummmm" so much, then I say "which means", interrupt all the phrases before I complete it "which means, which means, as u see, as u see, as u see", "do u understand x389 times" and I can't really express, the words in my head R not getting out as I'm imagining, while yes, in chatting, I'm way more better, also I move my hands too much, trying to descrive the dynamic in my mind, but they r always misunderstood.
Hahaha 😂 you know that we know that you know....that we are freaky & wild in our minds...lol you are right about that one. We are very open minded with the right groups of people of course. Not much with the closed minded people & many times we come off as "controversial" & we are aware of that too....🤪 We display our minds when we see it fit & in many different ways. 😅hehe Nice observation of us (INFJs) ✌🏻😅
It seems like INFPs don’t mind being seen, or doing their “thing,” but they despise being apprehended for what they are not. It’s literally painful, yet this very misapprehension of reality is the nature of the extroverted world (see Jung’s Types, especially page 374, if you want to shudder in horror).
Can you explain this more(
I sincerely doubt that any INFP would ever play a Jesuit priest. Especially since their oath includes swearing to kill all heretics by heretics meaning anyone who does not agree with Catholic teachings. People need to know what the Jesuit oath is. I think peoples eyes would be opened dramatically. This is the exact opposite of the teachings of Christ which is to overcome evil with good and to be wise as a serpent and harmless as a dove. It is not possible that any INFP would become a Jesuit priest.
OMGGGG ❤ Johnny Depp was my first crush!! I’m an infp, he’s an infp! IT JUST CLICKED 😄 I was like 14 😍
27:06 This's so true, I think of it like a chess engine recommending moves, there's a depth indicator and you can see how it recommends different moves depending on the depth. In my writings I very often go down the Google Translate rabbit hole to find a word with a definition that presents the perfect picture I got in my head (Ti shapes my writing in that each sentence is very dense, compact and full of hidden implications [similar to the ENTP, their works are very deep with meanings]). And it might take even longer as English is not my native lang. But when it comes to talking on the spot we get very dissatisfied with the outcome.
@tamir Thanks for the feedback! (You sure "sound" like an INFJ. ;-))
I am INFJ/INTJ with self diagnosed ADHD. Also Enneagram 5w9 and as per Vedic Astrology Virgo Moon and Ascendant and Pisces Sun. Reason for two different MBTI is still unknown to me but initially it tended towards INTJ and now more often INFJ. I agree with what's said.
@Zombie Bombay Thanks for the feedback. 🙂
Intj with adhd and Virgo too. So weird how things are conected, I also see the pattern most adhd are infj
True infps are very very very very very very sensitive person inside and can be a biggest sweetheart but if you mess up with them they know how to put yourself where you belongs to . The can be very rude and say something mean ( according to others but it's actually truth ) but as I said they are very kind hearted they keep quiet sometimes but doesn't irritate them if you dare do to they can kill you by their stare or even with their hands so be aware fuckers .
Being an INFP feels like a gigantic burden and also being in what could be called an existential crisis happens all too often!!! The whole Christian world is waiting for Jesus to return and silly me thinks it happened within 33 years; watching people turn the Book of Revelation into nonsense to cover every new phobia and probability kicks my butt! People telling me, "You should study history" when that is my specialty, kills me dead! Wanting to do something I consider sinful and holding the line with myself because If I do it I will literally collapse, is ALSO stressful. Understanding that the majority of people will NOT be either willing or able to understand feels like a bummer! Nuff said!
Most of the people that analyzed jhonny Depp on mbti say he's either infj or isfj rather than infp
That's depressing. To anyone who actually knows these people in real life, he's the most obvious specimen around.
@@EnidFPatternson 🤷♀️ idk, I am infp and I just think he's an interesting person to talk to, idc so much for mbti if I would like to talk to someone, I think we'll never know for sure as long as he doesn't make a test

How dare you know about my windowsill 🙈
This video was so comforting. Thank you for taking the time to make it. It feels nice to be understood.
I think that there is substantial potential for mistyping if a person knows about letter dichotomies but not about cognitive functions. Knowledge of the cognitive functions and of the function stacks for the various types substantially reduces the probability of mistyping, in my opinion
