How do you insert your card for activation
@@kachee01 Hi there. If it's prepayment meter top up gas by card and electricity by key. If it is a smart meter you don't insert a card to my knowledge. There is a code from the card you type in using A and B buttons.
I can't thank you enough for this. I have been struggling to work out how to read my electric meter and watched a few videos. Yours is the first one to clearly show what to do. Thank you very much :)

on an prepay electric meter, if i put say £250 on it at 15p per kwh. then i decide a week later to put another £250 but the pence per kwh changed to 25p and i already have £200 left on the meter. does this mean that all £450 change to 25p per kwh????
Good Q My Take is No Meter will auto update the kWhout rate as you say. It will just burn whatever money is there at the current rate.

Great informative video 👍
How do you get the pistons to retract after they come out ?
Yes pistons have been momentary action so what ever event opening the valve has to be reset like the counter or store CPU component via the Ladder diagram code
I will check the code tomorrow Counters or stores are set when the beam is broken. They need to be reset when the piston valve is activated
@@xacteducation8036 thanks man
No matter what button i press i dont get import 1. I have no idea why
If you press 6 once display should say TARIFF then ACT RATE then IMP R01 what do you get on your display?
They are being fitted without Tennant or owners permission
Yes its bullying tactics.
How much back EMF volts can I get from positive 35v DC on+ off, at 6 amps DC , to inductor 1.75 millihenry to 10 ohms reisistance to ground? I need = > 100volt over the resistance. Diodes inverse parallel. Formula depends on speed of switch as a transistor. I have neon bulbs type variable voltmeter 110 to 470v.
Hi 35v into 10 ohms will give 3.5A steady state Quite high. May be problematic. 1.75mH won't give much back EMF spike The one in my video is 5H and gives a few hundred volts >300V
Try different coils. Experimenting will get there!

You can buy but check meter type for compatibility Smets1 or Smets2 type smart meter.

If you have power from the Grid the smartmeter should have some sort of life. Not necessarily connected remotely. Does the screen register any graphics?
LED red light is on but it's not Flashing, Light stay still
Hello sir, I have the same meter as this in a newly moved property. I was wondering if I need to enter the online recharged code manually into the meter using A and B botton ? or will it recharge the meter automatically once I complete the online payment ?
Assuming your meter is connected to the WAN (is the WAN led flashing or not?) DCC network then some suppliers have Apps where you can top up online without need to key into the meter itself. Otherwise you need the 20 digit UTRN (Unique Transaction Reference Number), also known as the “VEND” code on your payment receipts to key in.
WAN Led red light stay still. not flashing
@@arunmvjr.7035 If not flashing it is not connected to WAN Hence not smart. You need to take and log readings.

What do you mean 9 is the addition to R01 and R02? supplier is confused by own meter, they cannot tell me what is my bill after being given monthly readings from button 9. They asked for readings from 9. They said 6 was wrong. Now they say readings from 9 are incorrect. Supplier is confused themselves and cannot produce a correct bill. Which one to press to get correct kWH for electricity then, 6 or 9?
Hi there Use button6 rather than 9 to get individual time of use tariff readings. It should come up with Tariff first then R01, R02 ... These are the import register readings as in what your property uses per kWh Ignore any decimal points. Just give whole numbers. button 9 is cumulative. If you add R01+R02 then button9 gives the sum.
Most suppliers are useless at advice because they are just interested in the admin & the money they can extract from you. Do not trust them. Take your own regular readings and record on an Excel spreadsheet.
If there is no +with the R01 R02 it may mean you are just on one Tarriff ? Or it is not communicating remotely across the DCC private mobile network. Can you see the WAN LED flashing? See my latest March24 update video for using button6 Does your meter display the same? Is it a Secure brand?
@@xacteducation8036 hi, thank you for the fast reply, it's a Secure meter, wan light is flashing. Thanks for explaining. Also the monthly sums come up and that is my electric (gas is on a separate meter) so the supplier should get these sums too, don't they. But I have to do photos to prove them what I actually used. They want £399 for one month. I use only £150 for both gas and electric, these includes standing charge. Thanks.
the problem with this readings is that when reading on 6 it shows 02073 kWh and when on 9 button it shows 08441 kWh... Supplier is confused too .
If reading is not active as it does not gave plus singn then readings from button 6 are inactive. That means what? Supplier cannot use this readings to bill you? So do you have to use button 9 instead? My supplier is giving me contradictory information every time I call. Supplier is confused themselves. 3 months now I had no correct bill by them. They also keep sending me wrong incorrect estimated bill. It's nothing what readings from each month says on meter. 🤢

Not good understanding
Hi, i have bough my first stove and have managed to buy some used twin wall pipe 3 x 1.2m for cheap, 1 of them is galvanised. Could i use the galvanised piece at the stove and the other 2 pieces through the roof to the cowl?
Has to be TW through the roof as you know, as even TW will get hot/warm. As long as it is rust proof(stainless steel etc) then will be ok outside- check with manufacturer/supplier. Dont see why not galvanised at stove. Has to couple into the stove outlet. Challenge i had was just understanding the coupling into the stove and different suppliers had different names for the same F2F coupling.
Thank you very much for the video mate. Is there any way that you could explain how to read a pay as you go meter? As in, how much money you have left on your gas and electricity?

How I can check last month reading
Hi Malik Press button 4 and display will cycle through month by month previous units & then costs. If press today will be December, November, October ... If your WAN led flashes then is off for approx 3 seconds and flashes again it means your meter is communicating with your supplier over the DCC mobile network i.e. data exchange 4/5 flashes means good signal; one flash mean poor signal
How do I take a meter reading on a smart meter?
Press 6 the display should say TARIFF then ACT RATE then IMP R01(means Import Register) then look for +R01+ on the display and take a digit reading. You dont need the digits after the decimal point. The + symbol next to R01 or R02 on the display tells you that the rate is currently active. If for example you have a different day & night rate from your supplier you need to record both the R01 & R)2 readings. Even if the supplier can remote read your meter do not trust them! Take you own manual readings say once per month. If the red WAN light is flashing that indicates the supplier is capable of remote reading your meter via the DCC mobile SMS network. Similar to mobile phone network but only accessible by electricity suppliers.
Many thanks for producing a very informative and understandable video. I have struggled for a long time to understand these meters.
Thanks for your kind words. Glad it is helpful.
Hi mate im currently doing plc's at college any chance you could give us a hand with something? cheers.
Hi Happy to help if i can. What is your question(s)?
@@xacteducation8036 thanks for the reply. Would you be able to roughly explain how you would separate the widest circles. To go pushed by the piston into their own separate bin.
@@rizzle9229 Hi The infra red beams that detect boxes passing are set at different heights. So its height rather than width detection. The first beam is set higher to detect tall boxes but not small box height(they go under the beam not through it). The second beam will detect both tall & small height boxes. The first piston pushes tall the second piston pushes small boxes into bins
@@xacteducation8036 hi I got it figured out and you can use the beams to sort width by using timers. I timed that it takes 7 tenths of a second for the widest circles to get through the beam. I then stored that information and set another timer to time the piston to whatever bin I wanted it to go into.
@@rizzle9229 Well done with the timing

Assuming it's the meter and not in home display could few reasons. If PAYG then credit issue. Could be lost mobile network connection. Could be internal fault. What does display say?
@@xacteducation8036 the display doesn’t say anything but the wan light is flashing - thanks for responding
