(minor manga spoilers) Even though I know what happens, I still cant handle episodes 9 and 10 of the anime. its by far one of the deepest and most emotional death scenes I've encountered, they devote 2 entire episodes to the buildup, and honestly the grieving doesn't end, even in the manga. its weird how such a short season can make me feel so horrible about a character dying despite me knowing it was a fake death. truly an example of how the actual event itself may not be the most important part about something. some thing for manga chapter 118, even after reading the full manga. storytelling is a strange thing, isn't it? I think the most important part is how Norman takes the news. its real, not overdone or anything. it might be how any of us would react placed in his shoes... It really conveys the feeling of hopelessness for him to the audience perfectly. we know there's no escape for him, and even when one option presents itself, its quickly struck down. my only complaint is that they should have made the death more believable. I watched the anime before I read the manga, and I knew from that scene alone that he wasn't dead, it was just too obvious. they could have made it so that he came before a demon, and they were about to stab him with the flower, then blackscreen and possibly a bit of last wordy dialogue from Norman. then come back to that scene once they reunite later with something like putting the flower into his coat pocket, then being taken off to lambda. that would be believable even for me. something on the level of Ray's suicide attempt would be perfect, as that fooled me. yeah sure I still would have read the manga and found out he's alive, but what about those who held out and didn't read it? I just feel its a bit of a letdown from the director.
