@@mrtisan29 yeah I tested it it makes a little bit of bearing noise but it’s very smooth it’s not even wobbly and it’s very fast

@@RyanFowler-co1xf Guess what? I might be getting 2 Mistrals for $15-$20. I offerd that as she said make an offer. Both come with their original controller and un-wired properly. Ones a 36" Industrial and ones a 48", Both use bell canopies.

You can buy speed controllers at Bunnings Warehouse to test the other Ceiling Fans on that you get
Yeah this control came with one of my fans so I thought I mine aswell use it it came with the cane blade Smc Clipsal airflow, the Capri, the arlec, and the Kingston ceiling fans that I got

@@RyanFowler-co1xf I am getting one from a pub, It has the rattan blades. I think its an Arlec classic ceiling fan. But it does run well. Its been used a fair bit but the pub is under a renovation/revamp. Its the only fan in the pub aside from a 200mm Lenco Exhaust fan and 2 Xpelair Wall exhaust fans.

One of my favourites!!! I’ve got this one 😊with the canopy, mine was doing the same. I put a cable tie really tight up under it really tight against the down rod which stopped it slipping down
Yeah I tried cable ties I put a cable tie around the part under the lower canopy where the capicitor is and that but it kept falling down again
@@RyanFowler-co1xf oh yeah, when I got mine it looked like someone had once used a couple of layers of double sided tape to hold it up too, but it had worn away. Maybe the tape with the cable tie wrapped around it so it sticks? 😊 I picked up some SMC 36 inch brand new in their boxes today!!

Now it’s spinning backwards. Obviously a completely bad capacitor behaves just like when there’s no capacitor connected to the fan, instead 240V straight to the motor windings. You can spin it either direction and it just goes the pace you rotate it at
Yeah I spun it backwards this isn’t a reversible fan it did come the a control not it’s profanely one it came with a 3 speed capicotor based control where do you get capacitors from

@@RyanFowler-co1xf I am not a fan of having light kits on ceiling fans and this one was never light kit adaptable but the MCFLA's were. I still like the MCFLA's though.

@@RyanFowler-co1xf My local bakery has 2 MCFLA48's Hanging. And they are planning to "Modernize" the interior so its likely they are coming down soon, So I will hopefully be able to get in touch with them and see if I can have them if they do.
@@Lane-o6o nice on marketplace don’t know what state you like in but in Victoria which is where I live there are a bunch of hunter ceiling fans like the American style ones and they where originally installled in a subway
These fans not that bad, though their capacitors do ware out after 7 years if used very often especially on high
Yeah I would say these are pretty good fans for what I would consider a modern fan anyway this is wood blades 52 inch

Was it working fine when you tested it with the light? Had this happened since you removed the light?
When I first tested it with light kit on it it worked fine and spun pretty fast but now it’s very slow
@@RyanFowler-co1xf it sounds like there is a loose connection. Or it may be possible that the capacitor is loosing charge as maybe it was shorted? Did it spark at all?
No it didn’t it cauld be just faulty
If it was working fine before then it wouldn’t be faulty. I think there is some kind of loose connection
Yeah river that or the windings in the moter have just suddenly shot
Either the capacitor is very worn, or worse case the motor itself could be damaged
It was probably in storage for a very long time because when I picked it up it was stored in the garage when I first turned it on it didn’t start on its own I had to spin it by hand

Little trick to stop the canopy rubbing on the motor is to put a cable tie on the downrod under the canopy so the canopy rests on the cable tie not the motor. From the factory they have a rubber o-ring on there but they always disintegrate
@@willpower3544 that’s a good idea but I feed like cable ties will be too week to hold the canopy I did use cable ties but not on the Dow rod the project on this fan will be changing the capicitor on it sometime tomorrow

I was here getting zip ties for my mistral and my local Bunnings didn’t have a huge range of fans it’s quite small
If you want to fix the lower canopy, what you can do is put a zip tie inside the lower canopy so that it holds it away from the motor
Okay because it’s not held in by any screws or anything it’s kind of just sitting there and it scrapes on the moter

@@RyanFowler-co1xf Yeh, cause it's the plastic tabs where the downrod goes through and holds on, they ware out and it doesn't hold on away from the motor anymore, unless there is some metal clamp that holds the lower canopy away from the motor, most of the time it gets misused hence you don't see them under the canopy. For these issues, Zip tie comes in handy
@@mrtisan29when I got this fan on Facebook marketplace it’s was dissembled in the shed and very dirty so they might have even taken it down like a year ago and packed it in storage and done nothing with it

Oooo you got one of the later versions. Mistralaire MCFA 48. These things are very good fans, yet they last very long too, and not often bearings go bad in them at all
Yes definitely the model number is mcfa 48 style 1 which I think is from the early 80s weather the style 2 versons are from the 70s

The whole light kit rattles. Try check the nut inside the light is tightened all the way, and ensure the screws holding the shade is on tight enough
