Thanks for all the coments and positive remarks. It's great when someone likes what you create. Of course it is all AI. When I say all, it is half and half. I write the lyrics which AI then transforms or keeps. Then I go back an forth for days on end, working with AI until there is a great final Art creation. In the case of SDM not just any song will do. It has to be "perfect"

Thanks. I think AI did a great job this time. The Martins are so much more complex than the Daves. The focus was on three or four chords, due to the complexity of Martin's voice. I am glad that AI understands music theory and can differentiate between complex and simple chords. As far as human manipulation, I would call it collaboration with AI instead. This fragment was one of the more difficult ones; the overlay was mixed afterward by another AI previous creation. As far as perfection, it was not quite so at the start. It actually took about 100 takes and inputting different commands to get AI to accept the transition. As for the second question. That is an enigma. Most users ask AI to give them a song. AI pumps out your basic verse, verse, chorus, verse, chorus, chorus garbage; but as you know DM's complexity is much more than that. They set off to be unique as soon as Vince left. I wanted to stay true to that and help Synthetic Depeche stay true to the uniqueness of DM (the soul of DM) This is where I said that AI understands music theory. As I literally explained this to AI it understood and created the unique harmony. Yes the song is one continuous three note, but the magic is that the AI understands. The product: A true Martin with the unique DM sound that still produces originality.

@@syntheticdepeche Thanks for your answer. I didn't understand: do you load the song in cubase (Ableton or else) to modify 2-3 things or isn't there any intervention from you? I think the track tends to be full of sounds and effects more than 'Not us', especially with bells and reverb and that's really a nice try! Do you compose yourself apart DM? I do compose. I may put a track or two in my weekly show as comparative to the synthetic; which will be a good way to differentiate between human and machine. Answer to question: After frustration, I began with a model. Then I spent much time trial and error, helping it create the process on its own. To make a long story short, what I envisioned and created as a human was different than what AI created. But I was satisfied anyway. (I didn't mix both products because I wanted it to be completely AI, or as close to AI as I could get. So any manipulation/modification I did was for my own purposes only; as a refference to teach the AI. But The final product is completely AI) Perhaps in the future I will upload a remix version that has both parts; but that would be a Human AI mix)

PS did you notice a slight vocoder, delay, and flange as well. That was a surprise since I didn't ask for it.

About this last effect, that surprised me because that’s not DM style. 03:02 the flute part is not synthpop That’s about all i’ve noticed. Today the song seemed more enjoyable :-)

Yes, took longer than I thought. You are right on the complex chords. Rather than fight AI for more hours, I decided to let it continue to "balance" itself on familiarity and simplicity. Once again giving us a richer Gahan voice, but sacrificing complexity. It is learning. I think perhaps soon it will do both.

Spot on. I wanted a very early DM here. AI rendered something of a sampling effect while managing to alter the notes. I think it was seemless. I did like the random nature of it as it jumped around almost putting several early tracks, or patches together. Did you get a chance to listen to Momento Mori on this channel. It is one of the more straight forward Synthetic Dave Gahans yet.

I thought the style of it was a Gore writing style. Maybe close to Violator era. Yes agreed that it takes some of the styles from those other groups as well. but it's all one big circle. Didn't those groups get greatly influenced by DM. So in a sense AI's sampling of Neuroticfish is just a sampling of a DM influenced band as well. One big circle.

...and what do you think. I think closing your eyes almost might trick you to one of those rare but incredible Dave G balads that he almost never does. It's Gore that puts those out most of the time. AI was so ingeneous to switch Gore for Gahan in this role.

Do you listen to David Bowie? His last album Seven is so beautiful and of course Blackstar.

I love the oxymoron description, it's disgustingly amazing. You are right. It disgusts me, and it's amazing that a machine can do this. I do like it better than that 2000 era DM, even though I don't think AI can walk in Dave's shoes.

Thanks. your observation is spot on. The music and voice are precise. The AI depictions of David Gahan and the rest don't match great. I think they are close, but AI has a very hard time creating David for some reason. His voice and his persona are unique. I think that is why AI does such a good job with the music once it understands it. But it is still having a hard time with the face. It's getting better and better.

This channel is not about me, it is about AI. Some people just hate AI. No matter how good it gets, no matter how incredible the sound is, or the art, they just hate it because they're humans. If you were in the 90's and DVD's came out you would hate those too. But eventually even your own thoughts will be AI. And then when you ask yourself to create something, it will be AI who does the thinking. We are halfway there. Just think of what your phone made you think about today.

AI has taken from the early days of Depeche Mode as well as from some of the Black celebration era it seems. Remember that Depeche Mode started with Vince Clark and was pretty beboppy. Especially speak n spell. But by the time we get to some great reward the music turns very dark. That was part of the allure of Depeche Mode. Not only was the band synthetic sampling unique, but Martin Gore's taking over the lyrics and the writing of music gave the band the direction and style it is today. While many people loved the Bebop of the '80s. What gave Depeche Mode it's a lure was it's dark cult like nature. Fans became devotees. And Depeche Mode became the only band.

Synthetic Souls has a full album 13 track release that you can just hit play on, or listen to the individual tracks. I suggest listening to this full track to get a better insight. I would say it falls into some great reward era.

Yes I agree. And I find it fascinating that AI is able to acomplish this same feat. To take such variation of sounds out of the synths and blend them in such a unique way that is definately the DM style and sound. I wanted AI to bring out earlier DM and transition towards the darker late 90s. So in the future you will hear the darker AI SDM. Thanks also for the acalades on the lyrics. They are the only thing I do myself. AI does the rest.

Yes Very good songs. I agree completely. AI is amazing. But it is freightening. I remember it was just a few months ago when I listend to Fryer's AI song that was the original AI "Like a Mystery" I was blown away and could not believe it. My eyes got wattery, and I felt somthing I could not describe. Why? Because DM's essence was being duplicated by a machine, and it was doing a great job at it. Since then however I have compared DM to the synthetic. There is a difference. There may sometimes be a very slight line, but Gahan and Gore have something like the French say "je ne se qua" and it is magical. AI still misses the soul. But when you compare AI to everything else, it is quite the same. DM is something of a unique annomaly. There is nothing like it and there will never be anything like it again. It must be the best band ever. Although I havn't listened to all the bands ever created. But those I have do not compare. So AI is frightening in that it may piss off Gahan and Gore and make them stop creating. If so then we will suffer. Of course once the genie is out there is nothing to stop it. AI has been released, and like Pandora's box it is out. We will be assimilated. completely agree. It is like when machines took over the auto industry. but they were not master artists. AI will ruin all art, replace it, and we will accept it in the end. It will be in our minds, in our homes, in our brains. We will be controlled by it. IT will be the master race. DM 50 years from now will be ancient history that no one remembers.
