To anyone out their doing engine work on their late 80s obs chevy and see this bracket system,take it off and throw it the fuck away and never think about it again,it is by far the worst bracket system gm has ever made and produced,they must have been on shrooms while designing this system,its horrible,you have to take a shit load of pictures to try to remember how it goes and it will still not be on right,and if the rear bracket for the power steering that bolts to the header which is also a very stupid deisgn,decides it wants to break then your entire bracket system will warp and bend,if you have plans on a build just do the smart and most logical thing and give it that mid-late 90s obs chevy serpentine setup,I recently got one and its better in every way

TO USE THE CRANE IN THIS SITUATION jack up the vehicle real high and double block the motorhome front and rear of dually tires,then the crane will be horizontal with the beam on the crane,higher means you can lift the engine higher,working on the mark v and mark 6 engine is best done outside the frame,be careful

sir,, did you do a compression test on all 8 cynerlers ? first ? what were the psi numbers. these motors get very hot and warp the heads and manufals

These 1pc steel brackets are not very good and have a bad habit of cracking and breaking, I would suggest finding the 2 pc aluminum brackets at the junk yard, all you need is the 2 brackets and the bolts and all the accessories will bolt on them and then you will have a lighter, stronger and nicer looking bracket set that is way easier to work with.

Just a hot tip if this ever comes up again. Strip it down to a short block and snag her from the inside with both dog houses off. Also must take the couch out too. Pull it back to door then use a backhoe or forklift to get it outside. There's no easy way to do these but, I just did my 89 Bounder that way. Found out the engine had been swapped already in 97 with a Gen VI 454. Trying to get correct parts was maddening but, she's all together and running strong with a Weiand intake and Edelbrock 750 carb. This one will be causing nightmares for many years to come!

I'm about to start one of these builds. I remember you upgrading the door hardware and saying it was a ton better. Can you tell me where you got the hardware from? Your stalling issues sound like some electronic component is over heating and trying to fail, possibly a ground short. If you have the OBD port you should be able to read real time data with something like the Torque Pro app and see if a sensor just stops outputting data.
