North to Belgium and the Netherlands. September 2024, part 1
มุมมอง 7228 วันที่ผ่านมา
A dodgy SD card in the GoPro means the story is a little disjointed, but I left home for a leisurely drive to Belgium where I met up with friends to go to a 2CV camp. Then we spent a week in the Netherlands, including an evening in Amsterdam. The next episode will be my journey home again, in half the time it took me to travel north.

    • @JacqueslemacFrance
      @JacqueslemacFrance 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I feel pretty fortunate to live the life I do and being able to do the things I do. Not all of them can be grippingly exciting. Sometimes it's just a case of driving from A to B. Having said that, travelling through France is a privilege as it's so varied. In the weather we experienced, it wasn't shown off to the best advantage.

    Fascinating watching the leaves fall like that! Why do you turn the pool pumps off when the water temperature drops below 10 degrees? Hope you find a home for all the cats! Happy Christmas!

    • @JacqueslemacFrance
      @JacqueslemacFrance 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It actually took less than an hour for the leaves to fall. It's the third year in a row it's happened, so it must be "normal". The pumps are there to push the water through the reeds and plants to be purified and have the nitrogen extracted so algae can't grow. When it's cold, the algae doesn't grow (or is very slow to grow) and the reeds are almost dormant, so their roots aren't working very hard anyway. Happy Christmas to you and yours as well!

    As always I enjoyed your journeys across rural France. Looking forward to watching the next 2 parts. I would have enjoyed it much more if I could have heard what you were saying when driving. I made a comment on a previous video re "Whispering Jacques Smith"! Please, please, please get a voice mic, a Rhode or DJI. You know it is needed. I've just noted your comment about the sound. It's easily fixed. It's just the voice not the nice sounds of the Dyane. She's running well and that was a long trip! Well done both of you. On to parts 2 & 3.

      @@JacqueslemacFrance A little sister with identical mechanics which was to succeed the 2CV... but in the end the big sister lived much longer! Years of production: 2CV 1948 - 1990, Dyane 1967 - 1983. The brave girl was supposed to close the gap between the 2CV and the DS but without investing money - mission impossible. The Dyane is more efficient and better laid out than the 2CV - notably thanks to the tailgate. But unfortunately for her she did not have the power of the myth and the seduction of the curves of the 2CV.

    Hi. Can you adjust de camera a little? Because you’re filming a lot of sky

    • @JacqueslemacFrance
      @JacqueslemacFrance ปีที่แล้ว

      I've experimented, but not come up with a satisfactory solution yet. The parcel shelf of a Hymer is huge and to have the camera near enough for me to be able to turn it on and off means I either have a lot of sky or a lot of parcel shelf, with the windscreen wiper in the middle of the shot. Suggestions to solve this gratefully received!

    What are these forward wheels with holes on the Dyane? Never seen such thing: holes are useless in a 2cv because the forward brakes are in board (on each side of the gearbox) not in the wheels....

      They were original fitment for Citroën's Ami Super and were fitted later to the Méhari Azur and Méhari Plage. They're purely for aesthetics and I've had them on all my A-series Citroëns since the 1980s.

    • @JacqueslemacFrance
      @JacqueslemacFrance ปีที่แล้ว

      There was a little work needed on the toeboard, but that's not atypical. Even different bodyshells deteriorate in different places.

    • @leneanderthalien
      @leneanderthalien ปีที่แล้ว

      The chassis did mostly rust much faster as bodyshells, especially on the last 2cvs which were manufactured in Portugal: i had a brand new 1990 2cv , and only 6 years later did the chassis bend because internaly rusted, but the body was still correct.I did store this car long years and finaly buy a new chassis and launch a full restoration, inclusive engine who was upgraded to 652cc with nicasil cylinders from VG (35hp) and a gearbox from a Dyane who allow a top speed of ~130km/h...
