Welcome to my "How to" videos on repairs or modifications to BMW Oilhead bikes.
Currently my 2008 R1200RT needed a stripped frame bolt hole to be re - threaded.
Also any other unrelated repair, modification, construction or building projects, around my home that I think might be useful.

I have a gs 310, pretty similar, I just fit a socket against the axel on a long extension and hammered it the fuck out😂
?. Its not threaded. take the 17mm nut of the other end of the axel. and use a soft rod and light tap to drift it out. The axel spindle doesn't turn, it sits in place and the wheel spins. Or you can spend 60 dollars on a Wunderlich tool, I spent 10 dollars on a similar tool from china. Which it turns out you don't actually need. Oh well you live and learn.
The bottom of the fork leg is definitely threaded. If you look carefully near the end of the video (5:52) you can see the threaded hole in the bottom left hand fork leg where I have unscrewed the axle from. This bike is the 2008 R1200 RTP Perhaps you have a different year. DO NOT attempt to hammer this shaft out, you will do serious damage to your bike if it is threaded like mine. It MUST be unscrewed
I was fortunate mine came off without a fight.
I think the former owner was a bit of a bush mechanic. Several bolts were stripped from overtightening.
