February 2024 Taipei to Alishan
During our trip to Taiwan for Lunar New Year, we took a small side excursion to Chiayi and Alishan via the High Speed Rail and Alishan Forest Railway. It was an incredibly scenic trip, and the Alishan Forest Railway is one of my favourite rail journeys that I've been on.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding it, but how do they have the air to hit and hold such a large moment right after yelling? Do they stagger breathe during the big moment? Idk it just doesn't make sense to me
It's a recording, I believe
The yell is actually the audience, not the corps members. I put this video together as a proof of concept. Basically, I thought the 2016 show had a good space for the yell, so I used the recording from the 2004 show which had a fantastic yell and spliced it in. The Vanguard Yell is a tradition for the corps, though it isn't in every show, and hasn't happened since 2016. You can hear the yell in the finals recording for 2016.
it's just a thing the audience does ! doesnt happen all the time and not in every show but it's a big tradition for vanguard fans, the most recent show i believe you can hear it best in is riiight before the fly to paradise ballad impact in vanguard cadet's show in 2018 (just look up scvc 2018 and go to the ballad, or watch the whole show because it's an AMAZING open class show, both scv and scvc went hard that year)

Yell is from the crowd not the corps. But this video is a recording of a different vanguard yell. It’s just showing fans were it was built in. Love it because if you’ve ever seen vanguard prefinals the crowd will do the yell at different times and some are incredible.

Steam locomotives really feel like living, breathing things. I have many fond memories from when I used to work on a tourist railroad, and had to stoke up the steam locomotives in the morning. Glad my video helped you remember too!
