Beatstep Pro with Roland T-8 and S-1 first jam
I bought myself an Arturia Beatstep Pro and here it is connected to the Roland T-8 (Drum sequencer and sequencer 2) and the Roland S-1 (sequencer 1). Lots of untried possibilities, but what potential! I also need to reduce the background noise (no doubt with a battery to power the BSP).

Roland P-6 : First Techno Jam
มุมมอง 2.4K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
First test of the Roland P-6. First time using a sampler and it changes a lot of things. Filled with samples from Logic Pro, Roland T-8, Roland S-1, Analog Kitchen... A lot of parameters to take into account, but also a lot of fun. It will take me some time to master this wild beast, but it's worth it!

This inspired me to buy S1 / T8 J6 and will try stepping away from the DAW ans Splice. I want to make my own music and get out of the 'loop zone'.

Great jam! I just got an NTS-3 and assembled it with the sync port jumpers set for MIDI. When I try BPM sync from external MIDI clock, the BPM delays get all glitchy. They sound OK when running on internal clock. I see you’re using sync from the T-8 and not MIDI here but I’m curious if you have you run into this issue?
Very nice ! Thanks !
Very cool❤❤❤
How do I reset what I have recorded so far. If that makes sense like when I click play it plays all of the music I’ve recorded and I can’t find how to start over
Great to see it in action !
Nice… I have considered the Beat Step Pro. I haven’t because the Aira sequencers are solid except that backing them up and reloading involves a computer. How do you store/reload sequences on the Beat Step?
@ can you save those sequences onto an SD card from within the unit? That’s is one thing Arturia should consider. Dawless data backup.
@ thanks eventually I’ll run out of space.
Can't stop now Don't you know I ain't never gonna let you go Don't go
Please, how do you connect the S1 with the keyboard?? I have a launchkey and I tried with the USB cable, but it dosen't work.
You need one of those special 5-pin midi cable to 3.5 mini jack. Arturia Keystep has a midi IN and a midi OUT. So I connect T8 midi OUT to Keystep midi IN (to transmit CLOCK) and Keystep midi OUT to S1 midi IN (to transmit both CLOCK from T8 and NOTES from Keystep). If Launchkey has no midi IN you will need to try to sync through the sync IN and OUT from T8 and S1 but you will not be able to use "CLOCKED" functionalities of the Launchkey (arpeggio for example) as it will not receive CLOCK signal. Hope that help.
Yes, thank you very much, I will try. And happy new year!!…
Would love some more videos on the p-6 if possible my friend :)
Very nice
Yes!!!👌🏼
How to shift the pitch for the whole bass sequence without turn the knob? Is it possible to push a button to shift the key while live playing?
Underrated video, underrated channel. Was jamming with you on guitar to this video jam
Delighted to have provided you with a half-hour backing track in C minor. Feel free to make a video ;-)
@@ShurikatMusic when I get good, I will! :-)
Yeah!
very cool, one minor point and i see many others do this, 30 mins with the same kick drum is very hard on the ear of the listener, but i love your channel - peace
That's exactly what I ask for when I want people to comment on my videos. Thank you for this constructive comment, which will help me to improve. I'll take it into account for my next jams. For the people who read the comments, don't hesitate!
Maybe some tutorial 😊
Cool jam session 🎧
👍 followed you for Roland compacts and it seems you've got a TR8s just when I've got one
Thank you for following my videos. In fact, I've had it for several years. Impostor complex means I feel more comfortable with 'toys' like the Aira Compact ;-)
@ShurikatMusic only had TR8s a week. I like how you use the knobs to keep everything changing and use the faders very little especially in your 3rd jam 👍
@@kevinbelton7857 The problem is that the faders wear out over time. I've already replaced two of them (BD, RD) but the problem persists. They get stuck at a certain volume and sometimes prevent you from using other functions. So I've decided to use them only for instrument balance and to mute/block sounds with other parameters whenever possible (decay and filter for example).
@@ShurikatMusic oh no don't tell me that!! I've just got it and i love the sliders
Shurikat is in da house🤟🤟well done👌🍺
What type of music ? Tech house?
I don't know. I imagine people with a drink in their hand, shaking their shoulders a bit, feeling the groove in conversation or at a poolside bar.
a healthy choice feels like this!
Nice jam. What's with the notes / numbers, under the buttons?
To play notes, you can assign the COARSE function (tune by semitone) to the CTRL button, but then you can't use it for anything else (like a filter, for example). So I prefer to use the TUNE knob. So I transcribed two octaves on a scale between -128 and +127. C= 0, C#11, D=21... I've stuck it at the bottom so that I can input notes on the fly.
@@ShurikatMusic Thanks for that. I Did a quick search, and found said info on Roland's TR8s Tips & Tricks.
Grande!!!👏🏼
For a minute i thought you'd found how to chain patterns.😂 on the t8.
I have the rd8 and the td3 but I can’t work out how to sync them and get sound out?
You can sync them via midi or use the trigger outputs. For the sound you need a mixer.
@ seemed like a stupid question. Maybe it’s so obvious it doesn’t need a mention but no where talks about that! Thanks. I thought a mixer might do it so I have got one. Just wasn’t sure if this was correct or a work around.
Great composition ❤
Got T-8: not fully clear what you did here. Have you sent the max value of Bass to the delay? and nothing to drums? I see that you work with the BAss pitch, but I have tried and it doesn't work like this. Thanks.
I do this by sending max bass to the delay like you said and also setting the delay time to whole note (“1__”). Then you can mute your bass and it will go on and on and on at tempo if you have the delay knob at max. Definitely done some sick transitions like this for an audience of myself 😂.
@ ah good, i’ll give a go. Cheers!!
Ah, very clever!
Very cool! Thanks for sharing.
you here?
Thaaaaaaaaaaaanks!!!!!!!!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thx❤
Cool! Keep'em coming!
I really like your style of work!
thank you ❣
Tips make the world go round. Thanks
didn't know/remember the first two thanks for the heads up :)
I love those knobs! Where'd you find them?
Yeaaaahh!🎉
it's taking me a while to get a handle on this thing but this jam shows you're well on your way. for me, it was a matter of learning HOW to sample stuff and then it started to be more fun. i'm still a real noob tho. can't wait to hear more of what you're able to pull off :)
As soon as you have this in your muscle memory, it becomes incredibly fast to record and capture sounds/ideas on the train or in the waiting room, to make a first basic framework for a song and/or to edit and complete it later. I wanted something that complements my MPC, now the MPC is crying about neglect (yes, technically the good mom is far better, but not as flexible and mobile).
@@viktoryawoolf chin up lil mpc, you had your time in the spotlight, and likely will again! the p6 on its own is really nice for getting rough ideas down for me but i especially love it when i link it up with my sonicware mega synth. then i'm in lofi alternate dimension video game worlds :)
Erstaunlich, was man aus dem kleinen Teil raus holen kann.
Did you get knob covers/replacements?
