This here is a story about Bob and Karla, two old lovers with nothing better to do, than sit around the house, take a break and watch TH-cam. This is what happened when we decided to cut loose.
Truck Camping in Ocala Makes Me Feel Like the King of Kings
After many setbacks this summer, we finally made it back out to the Ocala National Forest to do some truck camping. Our dog Lilly came with us. It was the first time the truck had been in mud since all the problems started earlier this summer. We stopped at a few possible campsite spots before we settled on the one we did. The pull off we chose was walking distance to an area Bob wanted to archery hunt in. After setting up camp, Bob went scouting. He came running back to let Karla know about some bears playing in a creek. We fast walked down the road to get a look at them. Our camera was barely able to pick them up! The evening quickly settled in and we went to bed.
The next morning was glorious. Karla and Lilly enjoyed camp while Bob was off hunting. Shortly after sunrise some duck hunters showed up at a pond not too far from us. That marked the end of Bob's morning. Oh well, he made it back in time for breakfast.

After about 6 weeks we finally received the rebuilt rear differential for our 1990 Chevy K1500. In this video Bob removes the old differential and replaces it with the new one. Once it is installed we go for a test drive to make sure the truck is ready for our next truck camping adventure.

Literally the day after we cleaned the truck it broke down on Bob while he was driving home from work. A seal had worn out and all the oil leaked out, causing something to break in his rear differential. We found an old Chevy 4x4 truck that has parts Bob can switch over to the silver truck. We have been using and abusing our truck camper lately on our trips and it was filthy dirty. We pulled everything out of the truck topper and gave it a deep clean. The amount of sand we had collected was incredible. Karla swept and vacuumed it all, and then she polished the wood. Finally we reloaded the camper.

You're right ! That model Silverado K1500 will last a lot longer than any of the newer trucks. I wish I still had my 1992 z71. The main reason is because you can work on it yourself. All of the parts are inexpensive and the 350 5.7L is tried and true. SO when your neighbor or someone talks down on your truck....just laugh and say " mark my words, when your newer one is in the shop, mine is still running". I guarantee sooner or later, the newer trucks will have problems. Nice job !! Oh, and my 1992 z71 5.7 350 w/throttle body...would outrun my current 2009 Silverado LTZ 4x4 crew cab 5.3.
Those cloth seats are way more comfortable than the leather seats in my 2009. If anyone reading this has never sat on the older k1500 cloth seats, go do it...compare your newer truck seat to the older cloth ones...(my 92 cloth seats were way more comfortable than my 09 LTZ silverado seats.)
I have had lots of people tell me its time to trade it in. Nope, won't do it. Too many miles left on it.
Oh that is so true. The seats are incredibly soft. Can wear shorts in summer in Florida without the air running; try that with leather seats!

Yeah ... I watched a friend of the family go through the Junkyard rear-end thing on an older Chevy. It was no fun for him and his wife. They did finally get it fixed though. Determination is the key.
Going this route is a gamble. It didn't pay off this time so we will have to keep at it. We are not giving up on the truck.

Apart from an 8" survivor knife, stun gun, mace, and machete, I added a Bruni New Police 9mm Pak blank pistol (very loud) and a .50 cal Umarex TR50 Paintball Revolver paintball airgun to my RV/ camping arsenal. Both are non-lethal and under $100. I also added on each side of the RV solar motion sensor LED lights and have an intruder alert. Remember even if you do not have a gun you can bluff "Go away I am armed with a gun.".Also, buy some M80 firecrackers when you hear weird noises or footsteps outside your RV light one up, and throw it out the window after the big bang you will scare most critters away.
Those all sound like good options. We don't worry much about animals, its the bipeds that you have to watch out for here in Florida, and trust me, we are fully prepared for them.

I really like your nice wooden doors and the fact that you can change your bed into a futon easily.. not so much hanging the toilet seat out on the door, seems really creepy.

The weather has been nice lately. It is not hot yet, have to wait till August for that.
I had to quit drinking coffee too. I switched to tea but the caffeine still bothered me. I started drinking DECAF, yes decaf and I have no problems with my heart at all now. It's fantastic to be able to drink coffee again and the decaf part didn't really change the flavor.
Bob tried Decaf, it still hurts his stomach if he drinks more than a cup. So he sticks to tea.

I've got friends that went to Ocala from the gathering in Dahlonega Georgia and never left.i live in Soflo but still never have really explored it proper.So i Thank yall for all the great videos

We love Ocala. It is so big. We have only explored a small portion of it, mostly near Alexander Springs. Someday we will explore the northern part of the forest.
We have family up that way. I'm sure they are thrilled.
