I split the sound of the audio from the clip so it’s separate then when there’s speaking I adjust the volumes and I snip out background noise etc so I can keep the vocal crisp and layered onto louder. I’m not great at it, still learning lol, I can hear issues in this video but I’m a perfectionist, I’m never happy. I just use clipchamp, something free for editing. Not sure if it’s easier on better software lol.

You’re dead on with this. I could have a very long rant about where this poor character has had so opportunities missed for giving him the help he clearly needs desperately. I’m kinda half-done with the current narrative of Carter on the show right now thus why I manufactured my own haha.

@@punkrockjellytot I think soaps' handling of mental health is poor at best and dangerous at worst. They never follow through, respect the healing process, or adequately express what it means to struggle every minute of the day. Mental health is always used as a catalyst for cheap drama but never allowed to be considered a mitigating circumstance. Mental health is my field, and I'm always worried about how soaps use mental health for publicity and then drop it once the character bottoms out.

The worst part about this is that he's going to go down for some of the things that he's done and yet to do and he will probably never get his happy ending. My heart breaks for him. He's probably trying to break the cycle of abuse that's been in his family for generations and trying to be a better man for his daughter, only aware of half much damage he's doing - because, let's be honest, Freya is a driving factor for him to embrace all of this madness. He's probably been beaten out of his mind by the people that are supposed to love him and mocked not only by his own family but by the church as well. What a lonely, frightened-for-your-life existence. Also, John Paul is trying to do a Finn O'Conner strategy actually - definitely not in the physical sense - but by calling him pathetic, he's just making it worse. He's wanting to help Carter one minute and not the next - what is that doing for someone's mental health? Carter has had to figure his own pains out all by himself, brought up in a toxic community that has never loved him. Actually, he's probably never been loved in his life before and that's why when it comes to John Paul, he can't see it. Abused, shattered, broken. @@JaileighJefferies Ah don’t lose that sympathy, he’s just as much a victim as Lucas if not more honestly as it’s literally destroyed his whole youth and young adult life at this point. There’s so many victims from this storyline. So important to have compassion for them all.

I've not seen any hate at David, the actor behind Carter - just at Carter. But if that is going on then I think it's just that the audience are young and haven't quite learnt to separate the two yet, that's all. Infact it shows considerable talent in an actor to provoke such a strong response; particularly when you're convincing enough to pay a bad guy when in real life you're the most precious amazing sweetest human being - David is a wonderful actor and a wonderful person, I honestly can't imagine he's wasting a moment worrying about people he doesn't know not liking him simply because he plays Carter so don't worry :-)
