I found this song because it plays on a terrible radio station that I am forced to listen to all day. I hate this song and the singer with a passion. This is the most garbage song I have ever heard. How it got on the radio is mind boggling. I would rather listen to homeless cats having rough sex. The fact that the "artist" was okay with this proves he is a narcissist. Any self respecting person would have cried thay their work is so bad.
I've seen him twice LIVE in concert - masterful musician! I also met him once in public & thanked him for all the great music - he couldn't have been nicer
Not ashamed to say this syncs completely with the feeling of being released from a voluntary hospital stay. The mind can imprison lots of people. I've never felt totally free of euphoria on days like those. I've felt so good, too good sometimes. I hear Richards voice and it sounds like he "gets" jailings of all kinds. 👍❤
I was lucky enough to see you at Cropedy I think in 2002 I was the black women who jumped the queue and put you on the spot by saying is this a boy thing you misunderstood and thought I said is this a black thing and you signed the CD for my man at the time I can really relate to your songs and love fairport convention the straws and led Zeppelin Sandy Denni probably had an influence as I was bought up with hippies Ralf Mc tell was my best friend brothers godfather and although I dont remember went to Cropedy as a child in their narrow boat I have been many times since but in 2002 I met up with them having no idea of going with them as a child I would love to know if your playing this year I know ian Anderson is touring Jethro Tulls earley years albums hoping you you will all play at the Fairfield Halls in Croydon or other small venues otherwise a festival where I can see you all perform with love from the white sheep of the family Millie x
Might wanna check on the tags for this video. All the related videos for this are kids videos! (And I'm guessing a video about a night of debauchery after a stint in prison is in the related feed for kids' videos? Lawl.)
Actually, I'm wondering if there was more live-action footage intended for the video than ended up making the cut. The way Richard just pops up at the beginning and the end reminds me of the videos for Tom Petty's "Running Down A Dream" and "Into The Into The Great Wide Open".
He's still around and more compelling than ever. Search If Love Whispers Your Name on You Tube. You just won't see him doing videos like this and Wrong Heartbeat anymore.
Thompson's still around, my friend. Just saw him last summer, and he's lost NOTHING. Highly recommend going to see him if you get the chance. He's brilliant.
It seems Richard Thompson is another great artist who never got his proper due. Look him up on wiki. Cal and History always seemed to be missing their appointments. He first got some notice as a teenage folkie in the late sixties. I remember him in 1989 with this little ditty. That was his one (at a still glamorous age thirty-nine) stab at MTV fame. I, personally think it was good work.
It's strange that this silly little video got me into RT in the early 1990's but I remember channel flipping and seeing this on VH-1 and wondering who the heck is this guy? The album "Rumor & Sigh" went on to be my favorite album for years. The solo acoustic version of this song is much more powerful however.
@edmund184 Thompson & Byrne played together in the early 90's.There's one or two clips flying around. Two amazing performers, both of whom I've had the privilege to have met.
I've never even heard of Richard Thompson until 2 days ago and now I'm addicted---he's great and I can't believe he's been around so long and I didn't know.
I was just looking for videos to send to a friend who's never heard RT. Had no idea this existed. RT is every bit as much of a god as Clapton, just not so mainstream. And I don't care. It means I don't have to fight so hard for front row. (Sorry, RT, I suppose the crazy good money would be good, but you have the undying love of many, regardless.)

Came for the Klasky Csupo animation, stayed for the bangin' tunes, got me through a rough patch in my life.
Love this video. Going to RT concert for my 70th birthday celebration on Nov 3 in Seattle.
I love this
This is exactly what a bipolar manic phase feels like.
Just give me like really big jack stauber vibes but like. Authentic as opposed to weird core
God this fucking slaps

Outstanding
Old enough to sin but too young to 🗳 vote
An increasing number of morons are voting these days
Summer of 91 👍 nice
Only cool ppls kno this
imagine being so rich as to being able to just get ur music video done by klasky-csupo

Why our teacher send us here then😂
This guy writes some of best songs EVER,and he's a fabulous guitar player
Great song, great video. Who did the animation? Fantastic! Richard Thompson rules.
Klasky Csupo (who did Rugrats) did the animation
Thanks, @@stereomonovici5796!
Who thinks it looks like the oreo animation?

I love it.
This is one of the best animated music videos I’ve ever seen
Brilliant
How did I ever miss this video. I feel like I'm tripping after watching that.
:)
Great animation - really suits the song cheers
Anyone know who animated this?
www.klaskycsupo.com/
Mick Kleber For some reason finding out Klasky Csupo directed this makes so much sense.
I think we coulda done without that animation. Straight-up stage clip would have been sufficient.
That would be boring.

If I had me "a suitcase of fity-pound notes" you can bet I'd feel "rev'ved up".
especially if I had a half-naked woman with her tongue down my throat...
I actually first heard this in the season premiere of The Real World San Francisco. Have always loved it ever since.
I never knew about this video before! It's great, thanks for posting!

I just bought his brand new EP. I swear he only gets better. Even his voice which is rare for old rockers.
wtf is JB doing in the backround, i want to flag JB for appearing in the backround of this video and i want to report VEVO.

pseudo-psychedelic pop-folk, gross

Not pretty at all, but 'cos of that voice I'd still walk through fire for this man. Thrice.
a true hero
Saw him live, so amazing.
I love this song..Great post...RT is the man!!
Next Tuesday..RT in Glasgow Concert Hall.

Video--ok, song--great, guitar playing--the best

You had to have heard Fairport convention where does the time go. Check it out if you have not

mollieie Far more original than Clapton. :)
This is like David Byrne cranked up a gear.
Similar to a Talking Heads album cover.
I agree
