Today is a gift - LYRA-8 ambient
Today is a gift -- Lyra-8 Ambient
Denver Colorado - freezing cold (high of 2F today), but life is good - big halogen space heater, Lyra-8, and a SurfyBear spring reverb. Also used a Boss DD-6 Digital Delay.

Patch experimentation with the Korg MS-20 Mini. No sequencer. All of the patches are looping/self-triggered - either by TRIG IN to EG2 REV OUT, or white noise to TRIG IN There is a little spring reverb added to some of the patches. Cheaper than a therapist. Enjoy!

Drone patches for the Korg Monologue

The Korg Monologue can make some great edgy leads and thick bass lines, but it can also make some warm drone sounds as well. Here are 30 free drone patches for the Korg Monologue. You will need to load the patch file using the Monologue Sound Librarian. Effects used in the video: Fathom reverb & DD-6 digital delay (stereo). Circuit bending the Digitech RDS 7.6 delay time machine

Some tips for circuit bending the Digitech RDS 7.6 digital delay time machine. This one is from 1987. There's a lot more bending points on these old vintage delays than what is shown in the video but these are some basics to get started.
Fix for Peavey TNT-150 hum problem
มุมมอง 11K7 ปีที่แล้ว
Picked up an old school Peavey TNT-150 bass amp on Craigslist for $100 (with Black Widow speaker). Amp is in great shape, built like a tank, LOUD, and 100% functional except for this hum problem. It was a fairly easy fix.
Expand the "LO-FI" capabilities of the Digitech RDS-1900
มุมมอง 2.9K10 ปีที่แล้ว
Here's a mod I did on a Digitech RDS-1900 digital delay. Replacing the 5k trim pot for the master clock VCO with a front panel mount 10k linear pot. This basically gives you full manual control over the sample rate clock on this vintage 8-bit delay providing the capability to sample at longer delay times (2-35sec) but, of course, the fidelity suffers greatly - bandwidth is half the sample rate....
Digitech RDS 7.6 delay with DIY dual repeat/hold footswitch
มุมมอง 3.1K11 ปีที่แล้ว
Here's a DIY dual footswitch for controlling the repeat hold function on a Digitech RDS 7.6 delay. I think it would work for any delay that has an external jack for the repeat/hold function. One of the switches is an SPDT (on/on) and the other is an SPST momentary switch. I used a small metal box that used to be an Ethernet transceiver so the box has a few extra holes in it. The switches are re...

KORG Monotron delay with 8-step sequencer
มุมมอง 9K12 ปีที่แล้ว
Just finished building an 8-step baby analog sequencer and I'm testing it out with the pitch (CV) and gate inputs on the KORG Monotron Delay synth. I used the schematic at www.dinsync.info/2010/05/diy-8-step-sequencer.html. I'm using a 555 to provide the clock. I don't have the step skip switches connected yet but it's a fun little machine so far. Was pretty easy to build. Most of the parts I a...

    OK..getting closer to understanding what/ how the knobs effect sound.I am so new to stand alone synths..can you suggest some examples of what can be plugged into the CV ins and the CV in for the VCF? I Would like to use this in a musical context.

    It is possible to use a synth for subtle beautiful blissed out music.Noises are fun... employing the synth to create melodic adventures is where I'd like to go.I'm getting one for sure..esp since it is very portable.

    • @droneopt
      @droneopt ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, the unit has dedicated CV pitch inputs for each oscillator (and one for the filter). Using the KBD CV output of my MS-20, I can play the oscillators on the LD-2 using the keyboard of the MS-20. The only limitation is that the oscillators are fixed (somewhat) sawtooth waveforms. And of course the filter will self oscillate making a very nice sounding sine wave generator.

    • @sillyworm
      @sillyworm ปีที่แล้ว

      @@droneopt Just plugged it in and had a few quick sessions...fun! I'm trying to find some ideas as to what certain knobs do to effect sound etc etc.Hoping there is some predictable outcome hee hee.I'll try running a loop through and manipulate...Then add a keys.

      @sillyworm ปีที่แล้ว

      @@droneopt playing around with this more and more...trying to " understand/ predict outcomes of each knob....not easy..I get the delay section and the cutoff and resonance...but the 4LFO is confusing...it just seems to add random modulations.

    • @droneopt
      @droneopt ปีที่แล้ว

      @@sillyworm Yeah the 4LFO is a strange feature, especially when all the LFO rates are set to almost the same rate and you hear them crashing into each other creating random pitch modulations because there is no sync between them. Tetsuji Masuda definitely has some crazy and original ideas to keep things from getting boring. I was actually thinking about modifying mine and replacing the pots for the 4 LFOs with push(on)/pull(off) pots so I can toggle each of the 4 LFOs on & off to get even more interesting modulations. I also felt that the low range of the main LFO speed was not slow enough for my tastes so I modded it by soldering a larger 4uF capacitor in parallel across the factory 1uF cap for the speed switch low range position. This helped to slow down the LFO to about 10 seconds which seems perfect for creating more slower evolving filter sweeps.

      hmm, I had a Peavey Basic 50 that had a similar problem. Amp would power on and the DDT LED would be faintly lit, but after it was on for a few minutes the comp LED would get brighter and the output volume would get very low. Problem turned out to be a bad capacitor in the preamp stage (after the EQ). You may have to download a schematic and test all of them. Also check the DDT comp IC. Most likely its a 4558 op-amp chip.
