Mine is 00000 and the 0 isn’t an option
You are correct, zero is not an option. I cannot be all zeros. My suggestion would be to change it to a number you know. I have a video on that process, it is very easy.
I have a Nightster with the 975 Revmax in it. The adjustment is the same from what I see in the service manual, but what I am trying to understand is on the traditional Harleys you can remove the derby cover and adjust the clutch there. I do not see this being a thing on this engine. Is that correct?
No adjustment at the clutch hub, but there is an additional inline adjuster on the clutch cable of the remax bikes.
Great Video for a great bike, I love that dam thing. Keep them coming, Thank You!
Will do, thanks for watching!
Thanks for the tip on using the dimes, very handy. I check/adjust mine at the 5K mile mark. The only time I saw out of spec with too much freeplay was within the first 5K miles. I put street tires on mine and use it as a daily ride for my in home piano service calls. This is the best bike I've owned so far. It handles well, has plenty of power and is comfortable all day whether I ride 25 miles or 200 miles in a day's work. Peace be with you.
Yes, seems like most clutch adjustments are required during break in. Glad you like the bike. I sure enjoy mine. So versatile, very good bike at all styles of riding.
Thanks for the update. Will now go check the clutch free play on mine. Not sure why, but the free play on my PAm seems to get wider, not tighter after a while. The gear changes are very ordinary on mine, at times just won't go into gear moving up the gears without brut force, having the dealer look at it next week.
I agree, sometimes the free play goes both ways. Point is to maintain that for proper shifting and clutch life. The PA seems to be a little more critical on this than some other bikes.
@@yeagerscycle3450 Interesting how you put it, "..a little more critical..". I know you have to be diplomatic, fair enough, but out of all the bikes I've owned or own over the last 40 over years, the gear changes on my PAm are the worst ever, it is terrible. Here's the list: Z250, Z750, Z1300, 96 RKing, 97 Sportster, 04 Sportster, Triumph Trophy SE, M8 Low Rider, KLX230, 450MT. I've also had long term use of a 96 Fatboy and Hayabusa.
@@nevillegreg1 nice list of bikes, I’ve rode my fair amount as well. I would agree it is not the easiest bike to shift but far from terrible in my opinion. Japanese bikes, which we sell Yamaha and Suzuki as well have always had nice smooth transmissions. Harley’s have always had long shifting throws compared to the Japanese stuff. The only real issue I have had on the PA is putting it in neutral. I just work around that. Thanks for watching and your opinion is always appreciated.
Great video but you left us at a cliffhanger! Are you going to do a part 2 to explain the inline adjustment?
I’m sorry, you are correct. That will be my next how to. Thank you!
Makes a great bike even better!
Agreed!
@@yeagerscycle3450 Thanks for including us.
@@saddlemenusa sure thing!

Easiest check I’ve seen demonstrated
I know right, and it works. Thanks for watching.
I noticed some 24 models have rubber grommets i noticed mine don't have any and looks like that bike doesn't either, maybe just road glides have them or am i missing 4 grommets?
You are correct, street glides do not have the rubber washer, Road Glides do have the rubber washer on the windshield mounting screws
I love the idea, love the concept, but I rode one with the 10" and it was like trying to see through 4 pairs of progressive bifocals. @6'2" I made due with the stock, then added the 8" and works amazing. I also added 1/4" rubber bushings on the upper bolts, to give it just a tad bit more pitch upwards. That got rid of all the buffering at the forehead, while still having a decent breeze and airflow through the cockpit.
Glad you were able to get it the way you like it. That’s what it is all about, keep playing with it till you get the correct combination.
Great videos Larry, the content is solid. Do you have a video on how to properly use that strange chain slack measuring tool that comes with the Pan Ams? It looks like a large can opener. 😄
I totally agree with that. I know how to use it but in my opinion HD forgot to put any inch markers on it to Measure the slack. My target chain slack with bike on center stand is 4.25”s measuring between top of chain to the lip of the hole on the bottom of the swingarm. Hope that helps.
How to delete that
You will have to have a Harley dealer reset your 24 month timer for the brake fluid change. Only a HD dealer can do that.
Harley-Davidson has learned how to rip their customers off that is not a windshield it is a decorative piece of plastic Harley-Davidson puts junk on their bikes that you have to upgrade and buy stuff that is better
Not sure I agree with that. Everyone one is built differently and also has different expectations of wind coverage. I believe for an average height individual the stock windshield does a nice job.
What is the height dimension on both windshields measuring from the inside of the fairing, the ledge just under the wind flap to the top of the respective windshield? That would be a big help to determine just how high it is when sitting on the bike. It’s very fustrating that Harley offers no schematic or consistency on this. And it’s not like they’ll let you exchange it, and there is no demo models to try. Help!😂. Thank you. Good video.
I’m sorry but I am not at our shop this week. I agree, some of the aftermarket windshield manufactures give you the measurements. If you were close to us we would allow you to try them. That is the only way to tell.
What size windshield did you install? Did I miss something?
I went with the 8” myself. That is what worked best for me.
Thanks for the video
Sure thing, hope it helped!
mind telling where you got the sidestand switch guard? thanks
That is a Dynajet brand switch cover. Hate to say it but I wouldn’t buy that particular brand on that piece again. I broke very quickly and have heard of others with the same issue.
Tire pressure? Front and rear?
I have heard a lot of variation of opinions on that. I run mid 20’s on both ends, but I set up for mostly off-road. Most run low 30’s. Hope this helps
@yeagerscycle3450 my pan america feels like it's trying to fish out every time I move my bottom since I put them on. And the tpms says it's low at 37psi. Front and rear.
I tried 37 all around. Then 43 rear. I took my harley panniers off and it felt better. But still feels loose
Very good video . ...thanks
👍 Thank you for watching!
How you set clock-2023 Pan America, an asesery mode?
So, to set the clock go to settings, general, then Adjust clock time. You can then set up your clock. One more important setting is enabling or disabling HD App Time Sync. If you enable that each time you blue tooth connect your phone it will sync the time. Trouble is if you don’t connect your phone it will loose time. If you disable that then it will keep time for you without Bluetooth if your phone.
I put a 8.5 on my cvo sg and it’s clear not smoked garbage The 24 sg and rg are aerodynamic pieces of garbage The head buffeting is worse The front end vibrates like crazy at 65mph and up
Sorry it is not working for you. Everyone is different but I’m 6’ 2” and really liked the 8” on my SG. You probably already have but make sure you adjust the air vent to reduce buffeting. What I have found is that if you cannot adjust out the buffeting with the vent the next taller shield might be best for you. Hope that helps!
Harley is the only that has optional windshields? I don't think so. You're forgetting the Clock Works windshields that are on virtually every Harley TH-camr's new 24 Road Glides
You are correct, I miss spoke on that. Looks like they do a 12” and 13.5”
Thanks, that made it an easy job.
Glad it helped!
hi Larry, 👋 I checked the AVH (hill hold) time out today on my 2023 Pan America Special; indeed, it does time out in five minutes. I was not aware of that before. Thank you. Just before it cuts out at the five minute mark, the AVH indicator flashes on the dash for a few seconds, then it releases. This is good to know; adjusting helmet, zipping gloves, opening vents better happen in less than five min. It would be a shocker to have AVH release on a down slope (like my driveway) as a surprise! marcus
When the pan first came out it had a much shorter hill hold time. If I remember it was one minute. Fortunately Harley seen that was a mistake and corrected that. I’m a HH addict! Lol
Great video.
Glad you enjoyed it
Hey, Larry! It's actually the rear brake that sets AVH (automatic vehicle hold) or VH (vehicle hold). Since the front and rear brakes are linked, the front brake can be used to set AVH, but the "pump" has to really hard in order to get enough pressure on the rear system. I always set AVH on my 2023 Pan America by using the rear brake pedal. I use this feature all the time, once I finally figured out how to reliably set it. It does work in neutral, but it only works with the engine running. When you talk about this, you should show the dash and the indicator light that indicates when AVH is active. I was NOT aware that there is a timer. Later today I will test this. I have never had mine release when I did not expect it (due to timer). One thing that is frustrating is that the HD owner's manual DOES NOT really address AVH... how to use it, how to set/release, and so on. It's almost like the tech writers don't really know it's there either. Thanks for the video. marcus
Thank you for the input, it is a great feature. Truth is I never noticed there was no info in the owners manual. That does seem strange that it is not mentioned.
Man, as far as I know, it also upgraded SOME MORE IMPORTANT, like: - starter - alternator - and some kind of relay So why don't you mention? You are a Harley dealer?
Most of the changes you are referring to was from 23 to 24. This was an older video, 22 to 23
😲@@yeagerscycle3450either me or my harley dealer is completely confused. Me definitely. I was just told yesterday those changes were in the 23 model.
Did anyone out there invent a LONGER! side stand for the harley? Thanks Searching for it
If your Pan is ARH equipped then you can use a non ARH Pan Am side stand and it is longer. That is what I use.
@@yeagerscycle3450 wow!!! That's an amazing hint! Any disadvantages you have in mind? 🙏🙏 And really thanks a lot for sharing!
@@m2kk I find that I need to lean the bike to the other side more often to get the stand down. Other than that it works well. Also, get the accessory stand, it has a larger foot.
Thanks for the video. Helpful.
You’re welcome, Thanks for watching!
Incorrect. Off road plus will not turn off ABS. It will turn it off on the rear brake, not the front.
You are correct. If I said it would I miss spoke.
howardhazelwood4470 you nailed it! I did the same. The 10' forces me to set up straighter which is a good thing, but it really does distort the view. My wife hates it! I know it's early but like many HD parts, someone will fix the error or their (HD) ways and give us a good windshield without the curve. Over all the 2024 is a great bike, but the windshield and radio volume leave a lot to be desired.
Trouble is all the windshield builders are doing the curved style and I have a hard time with that. I would just soon it have no flip in my opinion. Thanks for watching!
No chance for PanAmerica 2021 ?
I understand the answer is no. I do recall on one of the threads a fella figured out a way. It would be way above my head. I think it could be wired up. It is a matter of the software programming to make it work.
@yeagerscycle3450 thanks for answer !
I tested a 2024 Streetglide, stock wind shield. It was terrible, so much noise and turbulence around the helmet.
I'm 6'1" BTW
I’m the same height and went with the 8”. Works good for me. Make sure to adjust the fairing vent as well. If you have the correct size windshield you will find a position on the vent that will smooth out the buffeting. Hope this helps!
Couldn't agree more! I'm trying to find a solution
Go with the 10" the 8" was minimal improvement for me.
Just wondering as a dealer what are you guys doing to address the low voltage issue on startup. Either getting the whireing cuz it doesnt want to start or it starts but throws codes. All codes are lack of voltage related. Taking my 21 in finally next week. New battery 4 days ago. Still get it. Have had for almost 3 years now and only 1500 miles. Have a 20 rgs as well thank god. Thisbis crazy that jd is not just fixong these well known issues. I know im gonna get the run around from my hd dealer. Pocono mtn hd. I have such low mileage because I'm afraid to ride it. It literally is a 50/50 chance if it's going to start on the first button push. Just road today. Started up fine due to just unplugging from tender. Went to lunch. Bike sat almost an hour. Had to try 2x to start. Literally 9 out of 10 times i have to try at least 2x. The damn whitrong due to laco of voltage. Have spoke with a few hd dealers just to see what would say. And of course every single one of them I don't know what problem you're talking about we don't have that we haven't fixed anyone's bike for that. How is a software update going to fix a low voltage problem I want someone to really explain this to me. I have case number. Harley will not get over on me on this when they know it's a known issue.
If your dealer is familiar with the Pan America there are service bulletins to address everything your are talking about. Harley will provide them with a list of checks and problem areas. Also, make sure all software updates are done and kept up to date. Those will fix low voltage starting issues as well. I hate it that it has taken you this long to get it to a dealer. These corrections have been available for some time now. Hope things work out for you.
Thank you so much for getting back. I have all updates except the one that came out on 12 23. I have a blue #1 rgs so not my main bike. But I love the crap out of this pan. Have the orange. But since day 1 has had that whirring. But when set up my appt they acted all we haven't heard of that. Yes I put a Dynojet tuner. Not the issue. So now I have voided my extended warranty. Just such B's that HD not standing up and saying hey 21s bring in and we'll fix it. But again thank you for responding.
Nice video thank u !!!!
Glad you liked it!
Larry first let me thank you for responding. I certainly do appreciate it. The engine is stock as well as the exhaust. What I will do is go to the dealership ask to ride a brand new bike and see if I feel the same thing and not have them check the fuel pressure in the bikeagain thanks I certainly do appreciate it
Hey Larry, I just bought a 2021 and I am having a surging, rough idle issue that is driving me crazy. It is when I am at a constant speed and feels like I can't find the right gear. Any suggestions. Thanks
Hmmm, that will be tough for me to be much help on without riding and feeling exactly what it is doing. Is it all stock, such as exhaust change or anything of that nature? If so fuel pressure is probably the most common thing. I assume this is happening all the time? Hot motor or cold motor is what I am referring to.
Little hard for me to say without riding it. Does it do this all the time, cold motor or hot motor? Is it all stock, such as pipe change?
Great info! Mine just came on today! Thanks!
Glad it helped!
Nice. My 2022 hooked right up directly via heated seats. My 2024 look like it need this pigtail thingy so I can power up the Garmin and Cell phone charger.
how do this work on hwy as up to 85 mph.I need a 50 50 to get me to the gravel roads etc.
I have road a lot of Motoz tires on the road. I believe they do well as far as grip. They will wear fast for sure on asphalt.
my issue is i bought a 10" but my line of sight is right at the curve and it horribly distorts my view. the 8 inch is too small as I get a lot of wind buffeting, I wish they made one without the curve or flare in it. I need a taller one or one without the flare in it. I have looked everywhere for one and cannot find a one.
Not a lot of other options out there yet. I would assume you played with the fairing vent to find a sweet spot to remove the buffeting?
What’s the default PIN code from factory? I tried to change it like you said and I get a message saying that the key fob needs to be present. Although the key fob was present.
The dealer would have set up the original PIN code. Possibly 5 ones or the last 5 of the vin number. If that is the case then your fob is not working. Low battery on the fob?
How do you get the pan off to install the security module?
Truth is I’m not sure where the security module is located. Which pan are you referring to?
Am I blind? I don't see the spreadsheet.
Nope, your not blind. If you are a follower on most any of the Pan Am FB pages it is under files. If not send me you email and I will send you one.
is there a factory reset to that Pin if you can't remember it?
With your fob present you are able to change the PIN number under settings yourself.
Good vid. Thanks!
Thanks
Should i buy the 2024. I put a 18000 deposit down. Trading in my 2023 lowrider st. Thanks
