Without even hearing you voice I could tell your you were some kind of Rube, you can just see it in your facial features. Maybe Italians do not like Rubes on vacation, also why do you call yourself an American and never mention your home state? You would be viewed and Mrs.Cletus in NYC or LA.
Being an Italian I agree with many of your comments on why you hate living in Italy sometimes. In fact I’ve created my own list which I’ve called “Fellini Moments”. Wonderful place to visit every year but I do look forward to coming back home.
I've had nothing but pretty good/lucky beauracratic experiences. If you are moving here from U.S. get everything you can do, done in the U.S. that you can, and hire an interpreter to roll through all the steps you have to take with services where everyone speaks only Italian. Haven't met any rude Italians here.......and hardly anyone speaks anything but Italian in our region. People bring us produce from their gardens, have made pomodori with our neighbor's big family, bring us cooked dishes, and we reciprocate, spent the day harvestiing olives for olive oil with a fellow who is part of our remodeling crew, there are many dark bodied people in our small city and I see them picking up their kids with all the other folks, and kids playing together........hey! Assalam Aleekum brother......I live in a bubble of extended Italian families, and they are the best people to live around.......and misogynistic......women are adored by their husbands and children here where we live.....I'm sorry Daisy, you have "young person's" disease.....you attract what you put out.......I could go on......and there are some minor irritations, but not worth mentioning because the whole world is filled with minor irritations. I would tell you where I live, but I like the challenge of living where English is hardly spoken, and I can not relate to what Daisy is talking about......Maybe we are living in an "Italian" bubble in "Abruzzo", very agricultural, very friendly and patient, greenest region in Italy, hardly any tourist except for two months, but this is where Italians come for vacation, and we have one of the best beaches in Italy practically to ourselves except for the two months of Italians that come here. Oh well......good luck Daisy......I will admit though, you have to watch where you step, Italy has dog poo on the sidewalks.....more than you would think......but I do not think about it much anymore....used to it.
The title of your video should be "why I hate living in Rome" you are the one that insisted in living in a large expensive tourist city full of airbnb's. I've been to every region in Italy and I found Italians to be acceptable in their behavior, and also felt very safe everywhere. In my travels I found Parisians to be the rudest, and did not feel safe in Paris on any level. You're filtering everything through an American viewpoint of how people should act. Americans can be very nice But it's unsafe to live in many places. My business partner was robbed a gunpoint a couple months ago in a safe area. The gunman came from a dangerous area about 10 mi away. Italians are a little bit more direct in how they express themselves and show their feelings. As a totality I would take the trade. Even in Spain now people are just tired of where they live being overpriced and full of Tourists. My last trip to Italy I drove around Rome and went to a lot of small and medium places.
I am not sure why your channel has not blown up more. You are well spoken, have a well defined point of view, have great delivery and are very engaging. Being young and being on an adventure is a great time of life. I am looking forward to seeing your progress.
Daisy I love your shirt 👚 is that American style ? Definitely not Italian😂 I will send you money to buy yourself a nice Italian shirt 👕 😂😂😂
Rome is not all italians.
I’ve met 3-4 Italians so far, and they all seem to harbor a fair amount of hate.
Rome is a 360 total experience, everyone can find his/her niche and fit in, try and search better...
Depends on person some of them are so friendly and humble and good but they have different ideology different culture from other nations there culture is totally different then others that's why for us difficult to understand them wether they are friendly or rude or this is there ideology cause even good and humble people sometimes behave differently
You seem to want to import woke America to Europe, we are struggling with mass immigration throughout Western Europe, keeping native traditions, language, cuisine and culture is the key to our identity. We don't want a global mish mash of everything and nothing.
6$ for raspberries WTH
I completely agree. I had the best experience in Siena, much nicer people. But Rome is MEAN AND INSANE. Unnecessary rudeness.
I agree on everything you said in this video! In fact I left Italy , Rome and moved to spain for looking for a job and I don't want ever come back there! P.s. I also just don't find with italian people. I really cannot stand them. They are kinda jerks inside!!
stai in spagna?e rimanece
Definitely experienced a lot of racism in italy as a black American woman. Then i took my parents there who have a african accent and wow, they were treated like animals. My American accent allowed me to receive less hate treatment than they did. Do better Italians! Stop blaming the downfalls of your gov on migrants. Be kind!
When in Rome, do as the Romans do.
Nah. I’m not a mean hearted nasty pick pocketing thief. Not saying everyone is like that. But it’s a large part of the situation in Rome.
@@natalieohlsson7777 of course. You are a lovely lady and you deserve to be happy. But Rome is a difficult town , even for Italians. Do not expect that Rome will bow in front of you. If you do not adapt, you will suffer. I live abroad since 35 years and I had to adapt to several different countries. It was'nt easy but absolutly necessary. My wild guess is that Tuscany would be a much better place for you. Have a look at Lucca, Siena, and the country side ( Val d'Orcia).
@@antoniotorcoli5740 yes, I went to some other places that I really enjoyed. Siena was a favorite. I don’t expect Rome to bow to me or anyone for that matter. It’s not too much to ask for buses to be reliable and to not get robbed lol
@@natalieohlsson7777 pickpockets are rampant in Rome. They are Romanians and Peruvians. They are untouchable since the law protect them. It is illegal for a private citizen to catch them and detain them since they steal without using violence. If they are arrested, they are quicly released, especially the women, who are constantly pregnant ( or pretend to be). Rome is not a place where to live. It is a total mess.
You guys are so brave💚
I dont live in Italy (yet?😉) but I am french living in Barcelona for almost 20 years. People need to keep in mind that any places or country might be wonderful for holidays but the living is gonna be diferent, obviously. And I believe that everything you spoke about, you would say about the same for most places, especially big cities or capitals. No place is perfect and you will find issues everywhere, that s how it is, either you re ok with it or you re not, but if you are not, maybe moving abroad is not a good idea..? You need to get out of "the dream" and keep realistic. And then make a balance of what is the most important for you 😊
Let's be clear, not all "white" Americans are "financially privileged", or "privileged" in ANY WAY!! I have yet to understand why it SUDDENLY (seemingly overnight sometime in the last decade) it became the bee's knees for extreme radical looney tunes to despise being white...even to the point of despising themselves. There are poor & rich people of ALL races, colors, ethnicities, etc.; and there are "privileged" included in ALL of those same categories, as well. It's easy past time to STOP THE DIVISION: since we all bleed red, at the end of the day. The enemy of a peaceful, happy & stress-free life is CHAOS, STRIFE & DIVISION. Grace & peace to you all. 🙏
It's great that people nowadays make these sorts of videos so others are prevented! It saves us so much time, stress and energy

When you are unhappy, your ego will look to blame others for the way you feel. It can never be wrong, so it invents excuses by claiming "Italians are rude." What all 60 million? Despite the fact you cannot read another person's mind so you have no idea what anyone thinks about you, you then pull out the Racist card, totally convinced ppl are rude bc of your American accent. Really? How do you know Italians can even hear the difference between the various accents? If you learn to observe your own ego and question it, you might realise that your ego is trying to manipulate or make demands on another ego. Ppl don't treat you rudely for no reason. There's an energetic exchange i.e.. it's a 2 way street, even if your ego believes you are Mother Teresa. In other words, if you want to be loved, you have to change something in your life to become love and only then will you find peace and happiness and the buses will start arriving on time and everything in your life will go smoothly. It's all in your hands, not outside of you. You are the one making you suffer.
American here, I lived in Poggibonsi for 3 months in 1993. Close to Florence and Sienna. Couple things I noticed. We went to the Palio di sienna horse race. Walking around Sienna with Co-workers and their wives I noticed something. The men walked 6-10 feet in front of the women, and they did this just to look at other women. Periodically I would drop back to ask questions as one of the wives spoke good English. The men would get annoyed and say what are you doing are you gay? I believe the exact word was Finochio. Same thing when we went to the Beach every sunday. The men would get up and say" Avanti ,una Gira." Which meant lets go guys and check out the Chicks! Italians in Italy don't like outsiders. I think it goes back Centuries to how that nation was Divided into City States. I was in Tuscany. The people there didn't like the Northerners. Claimed they were Snobby and Cold. Didn't like the south or Rome because it Poor and dirty. And everybody hated the Sicilians. Very Clannish it seemed. But I will say those people loved life, Family and Country. I admired that. the racism, yes it was there. but mostly in older people. I was 25 at that time. And the Italians my age it seemed it was 50/50.
It seems like these things are Rome and perhaps bigger city problems? I also do not care for Rome or Naples. But loved Milan!
Hi ! I think the Germans have a different opinion of Americans than the Italians. Maybe Italians were not very popular in the US during the great migrations. I live in Germany and will move to Italy. I am not American, Im from Argentina, where italian immigrants where very welcome to this day. I think every experience is personal. And yes, if we agree with the "stereotype" of the country we want to move to we will be more comfortable, I think, in general.
What you think is your own affair. I cannot agree with you, and I found some sentences quite offensive. But, if the situation for you is so bad, why don't you take an airplane and go home? Nobody forces you to live in a Country you don't like. Come back to your Wonderland with no rude and racist people. Italy won't suffer your lost.
As an American, I believe that the Africans and Middle Easterners don't belong in Italy. They are illegally entering Europe, flooding the shores of Lampedusa , they are invaderrs. They belong in Africa and the Middle East. The Italians want to retain their culture just like we do here in the US as well as the rest of the Western world but unfortunately we are all being invaded.
The italians arent rude! My italian cousin have an american wife and They live very happily!
We were scammed , lied, cheated by 2 architects in Cremona , one of them declared one of the best in Italia , and best of 10 in Cremona , the renovation ended up with all bad works . Most of them will do anything to ripped you off, very few are kind and correct. Yes, most of them especially women are jealous , envious and racists against foreigners and even between themself , bad mouth each other in a small village.
I hope you were not speaking at Italians in loud slow English and expecting them to understand perfectly and spring into action, because Italians view foreigners who make no attempt at the Italian language as rude from their first syllable.
I'm sorry for your experiences, and I don't know if you have a clear idea but anyway it's better not to generalise, thank you 🤗
Homest video but the title is wrong. It should have been " why I hate living in Rome". Reality is quite different in most of other italian towns. With all due respect, your generalisations are simplistic and , ultimatly, wrong. Concerning the rudeness, Romans are known for being rude with everybody, including among themselves. But it is a particular kind of rudeness. I was shocked the first time I went to Rome, but I quickly understood that , in fact Romans like to make fun of people, which can be offensive of course. For instance, I was not sure about my transport ticket and I asked the bus driver if , with that ticket, I could visit Rome the all day. The bus driver answered: " se non c'hai un cazzo da fa" which means : " if you do not have anything else to do". I found the answer funny and brilliant, but of course other people could have had a different reaction. Concerning your statements that Italians are racist and mysoginistic , I would say they are as true as the ones according to which Americans are dumb and ignorant. There is some truth, but they are generalisations. And, again, Rome is extremely right wing and it is full of poor recent immigrants. It is not easy to integrate them. You have an afroamerican community since 400 years and it is still not fully integrated according to the statistics about income, crime, life expectancy, etc. . Concerning mysoginy, ask few italian women about that. In a relationship or a marriage, they will answer they are definitly the boss. Please do not take my comment as offensive. Your take about all the other aspects are spot on. I simply invite you to travel more in Italy. Come to Tuscany for instance. Or go to Sicily. I am sure you will have a different experience. And you will love it. You are a beauty btw.
Interesting that you say tourists are terrible but then complain that Italians are rude - could be connected?? New Yorkers are pretty rude too - could be all the tourists?? Transportation & Cost of living - have you lived anywhere but Rome? Rome is known to be expensive.
We are not rude, we are sincere: we do not make gratuitous smiles and then cut your clothes on you as soon as you turn away, but I understand that it is a matter of preference: many prefer to be fooled by false kind ways ...
without any malice towards you, but let me tell you that it sounds strange to hear an American call public transport in any other country disgusting, if we consider that the American one is the most disgusting in the world and most of the time non-existent., It's a bit paradoxical, don't you think?
Why don't you move?
I didn’t realize that’s a requirement when you don’t like something, run. She’s not the only person who feels this way. Don’t express your feelings or you are coming after them right.
Hi i had applied for foundation year program but still waiting for interview from the university amrican romania university
Frank and succinct, saying it as you see it. Italy doesn't deserve a pleasant young person like yourself. (The majority of Italian voters cast their ballot for the neo-fascist government, if that doesn't say it all)
Why are you moving then? You have legs, a passport...you can go somewhere else
If the things you say are true, why do you live in Rome? Why do you undergo these disorganised, rude, misogynistic, racist and unpleasant people?
I agree… go go go…
My grandparents were Italian. My grandfather was sooooo racist, even when living in Toronto. It came from his original cukture. I’ve been to Italy many times… they are racist! Simple. Regarding the privaledge of living somewhere… honestly … why do Americans or Canadians feel like they need to soften this feeling of living in a foreign country… it’s so weird. Like when their communities from around the world move to out countries… do they try and integrate? lol. They go to where their communities are and build their life with others that are the same as them typically. I say… just do you. Walk proudly through any country you are in… do what you want the same as they do when coming to our countries.. and just be you! Straight and simple. Who cares what anyone else thinks. If they are looking at you… or rude to you be rude back if that’s what you feel. If they look at me when I walk.. I walk proudly… and confidently… and spin around for them so they can look some more, I speak to them, they speak back. It’s all about conference in a different country. I have gotten into countless arguments and disagreements with people in Italy, and had also great conversations and a lot of love…in the end… honestly… just do you.. don’t try to fit in. I think when one tries to fit in this is where the issue is. If you do you and don’t try to fit in with confidence… I think they are curious about that… and soften. lol it’s reverse psychology.
Maybe you being you and doing your thing whilst in someone else's place is the reason they come off as rude and racist. When in Rome do as the Romans do.
They can’t even crack a smile when passing by and they act like you don't exist.
I thought I was the only one. And I thought it was possibly because I am not white. But this confirms it. They are just rude, unfriendly people. I never want to come back here. All of the reviews and videos online I saw of people talking about Italy's supposed "amazing" people and food, really has me baffled.
totally agreed.
are you still here in Italy ?
Yes we are!
@@siamogay I hope you can visit Florence 😄
the public transport sucks in south and center italy, not everywhere...in Rome, yes, it sucks. total nightmare
Use the car, the train, the boats… bikes…
naturasi is so expensive
Good to know! I’m moving to Milano next Wednesday so these things are good to think about beforehand. I mean my girlfriend lives in Italy already as an immigrant from a poor country and experiences racism and misogyny but I find it very helpful to hear from more people as well the things she’s said. I hope to find the best experiences of my life in this next chapter so I hope my exposure to this reality of Italy is not as prevalent as the problems I’m leaving behind in America. I know every place has it’s flaws, I just am like you said if I’m going to struggle, I would like to struggle where I can enjoy life more. Hopefully I find Italy to be more of an enjoyable place to live in comparison to America where I fear gun violence, the police, car accidents, bankruptcy, endless poverty, watching my life pass me working, working my body physically until I need medical attention, etc. I mean I’m privileged because I’m white and cis but being a gay woman in America is becoming more and more scary on top of the adversity every American already faces. Though I haven’t faced outward homophobia in some years, as laws change every year stripping us of protections in healthcare, education, and general legal protections I fear it empowers homophobic people to hate louder. I know that not everyone will understand why America for a gay white woman is scary or a threat to my success/fulfillment, but I hope if you do read this you can understand my moving to Italy is me trying to make a better life for myself. Anyways, that was truly long winded. Peace to you all ✨
Your videos in Rome are so much fun
