Every week I'm answering the Top 3 Questions that are sent through to America Josh and the questions that we've seen across social media. This week: 1️⃣ Where is the best place to get an E3 visa and what are turnaround times like around the world? 2️⃣ E-3D, E-3S, spousal visas and social security numbers... why is this such a mess? 3️⃣ Driver's license transfers - Why is it so complicated and w...
Where in the world should I get a new E-3 Visa and how long do I need to stay?
มุมมอง 401ปีที่แล้ว
Featuring Matt Curtis from Lightman Law Firm (www.lightmanimmigration.com/). First off, I want to ask one of the biggest questions that we've both been getting is around the idea of like where can you go to get a visa? Post COVID, it's been not as it hasn't quite bounced back to pre-COVID but it's gotten a little bit easier in the last few months.
The new E-3S visa - why it's better than the old E-3D and what it means for work.
มุมมอง 585ปีที่แล้ว
Featuring Matt Curtis from Lightman Law Firm (www.lightmanimmigration.com/). Alright Matt one of the big ones that we've had a lot of people with a lot of questions online about is the brand-new status the E3S, so that has replaced the E3 or it has upgraded the E3D, dependent status for E3 spouses and kids. Can you give us again a 30,000-foot view of what is this new status and what does it mean?
Concurrent E-3 visas - how exactly can you have two E3s at one time and why.
มุมมอง 515ปีที่แล้ว
Featuring Matt Curtis from Lightman Law Firm (www.lightmanimmigration.com/). Already another one of the questions Matt around multiple E3 visas. So, I understand broadly that you can have more than one active concurrent E3 visa. A is that true and B like what is the process for if you want to do more than one visa at a time?

Hi, I saw your TH-cam channel that's Awesome. Reasons why your TH-cam channel views, likes, comments, shares, subscribers, are low. SEO score is very low. Your TH-cam channel videos are not videos tags, title tags, Video SEO and video description SEO tag, and strong hashtags SEO optimized. This is why your TH-cam channel is not ranking in Google and TH-cam.
My wife is Aus Citizen, I am PR. When my wife gets E3. Am I eligible to work legally in USA on E3 spouse visa?
Interesting how California is such a 💩 state, even when you leave the country 🤭. I am so glad we moved to Texas before we moved overseas. No income taxes and no unfair taxes when you don't even live there anymore.
Kudos to Josh and the panelists for the incredibly insightful webinar!
Thanks, Lynda!
they are 2 separate forms...one is for entity, one for individual
Nice video, thanks!!! Can you get a nonimmigrant visa, such as a tourist visa after you filed I-407?
What’s E3R visa?
It's the renewal of an E3!
@@AmericaJosh is it a different process from E3? Why it’s distinguished from E3?
@@minabenjamin3660 No it's the same, it's just the fact that you've had one before

I got e3s instead of e3ds
I entered from Honolulu this week and was given e3d first then I questioned e3s so she checked with her supervisor to agree with e3s on I-94
All good! That’s what I’m seeing everyone get
I certainly didn't have this experience! I just came home from a frustrating exchange at my local deferred inspection site (BWI airport) where they told me I didn't know what I was talking about. I did bring printouts of the announcements on the USCIS website. They took copies of my E3D and my husband's E3, as well as my marriage certificate, and said they would get back to me in 5-7 business days. The staff member said he couldn't imagine they would change the I-94 though. Hope he's wrong...
I think I caught that. So on E3 as Aussie while working in US I cannot earn say a side income from any alternate sources Eg, side contract work remotely from Australia.
Correct - at a strict reading you can't earn money from anywhere outside your E3
@@AmericaJosh ok cheers
@@AmericaJosh presume renting out an AU based home is fine though.
So does this mean if I pay taxes on US income and file a US tax return, I also have to declare this on an Australian tax return and pay taxes to Australia on the US income? (If im living in new york)?
Wait so if I file a return in Australia based on income I made in Australia then i also have to pay tax on that in the US (if im living in new york)?
Youre a legend. Thanks for these informative videos. Currently shitting myself as I contemplate this huge move. We have it too good in Aus
Hey man thanks for the video, but i'm still confused about tax treaty. You explain what it is, but not how it actually works, maybe using a real world example would've helped. For example as another Australian here, if i've invested in the US stock market and i sell, while there's apparently a "tax treaty" between US and Australia of a flat 15% - does that mean my US broker takes the flat 15% tax out of what i receive, then that 15% is reduced when i go to pay standard tax rates in Australia, or i pay 15% in both countries, or some other form of reduced rate on Australian side, or something else entirely?
i 2nd this. i would also like to understand more please

Hi Josh, interesting video. Do you know if these proposed changes went through and do they now apply?
This is all so disheartening for me. I’m 39, Australian with no degree and am not well travelled. I want to make a new life in the US but just can’t find a way that will work. Pretty upsetting :(
me otoo candada is the best we can get. they got a skills based system just like our and you need to be good at english.. like we already are.
You can get an equivalency from work experience if you have professional work experience!
@@AmericaJosh I just read through the requirements again - when I first read them two year a or so ago I interpreted it to be 3 years work experience = 1 year of a degree. Reading again it looks like I could potentially apply as a general office clerk given my previous 3 years in that role. Interesting, my hopes are slightly up!
@@the_clueless_traveller You were right originally. 3 years work experience = 1 year of a degree, and in general you need 4 years of degree = 12 years work experience. The role that you get in the US also needs to require a Bachelor Degree or greater. Sorry to add to the conditions!
Do you think this law will be intorduced in the next 2 years?
How much money in a bank account? And what about owning stocks in ASX? Thanks. Great content
We're not 100% sure just yet!
@@AmericaJosh thanks mate 👍🏼
Do we know if these new rules were approved for this current financial year?
Great to know thanks 🙏
Aside from passing the tests to show that you are no longer a tax resident in Australia, is it necessary to show that you are a tax resident anywhere else? And is it necessary to continue to lodge tax returns with the ATO? Thanks!
Hi Josh, great video ! I have a question please regarding the proposed changes: Q: If i return to Australia permanently on 1st March (and hence satisfy the 45 days rule) + Im Australian Citizen + i own Australian property (unrented), am i liable for tax on all foreign income earned prior to 1st March (while outside Australia). Thanks in advance
Thanks Mark! So the answer as I understand it, is: It depends. If the ATO believes you’re a full year resident or resuming residency from when you land. If he’s been overseas for years and returns it would be when he landed.
@@AmericaJosh Excellent, and thanks for the clarification !
Nice informative videos gents, much thanks!
So if we are classed as a tax resident 45 days+ in Australia (even though residing in USA) do you only pay the tax for the 45 days (or more) for that portion? And get a rebate in the US for the same days?
This talks about having money in Australian bank accounts (ie assets) - what about if you have a large mortgage but not really any substantial positive bank balances?
Does the mortgage mean you have a house?
What constitutes as "a lot of money" in Australian investments ie; bank accounts?
Great question and the answer is we don’t know yet! There’ll be clarifications and more discussion coming soon!
Thanks Josh and Jason, you guys are appreciated. That said our country does suck.
brilliant update thanks lads.
Merry Xmas and Happy New Year! Thanks for all your hard work and great information.
Josh: 'Hero', 'Grinder', 'Sub' - they are all the basically the same (the chain Subway sells one version), the name depends on where you are in the US.
Haha thanks Justin! Yep, I worked that out fast when I realized that I could barely work my way through the sandwich I'd bought!!
Josh that jacket is fabulous! Happy Holidays!
Haha thank you!
Yes, thank you Josh.....you have been a real asset to us Aussies in the US.
How exciting to go back home to Australia Josh. Good luck to you. I would be thrilled.
Thanks so much Khristina! It's been the best thing in a terrible year! Your kind words are much appreciated and glad you got something out of it.

Good video...How one can obtain a job offer from US employer while in Australia?
Thanks Ajay! Lots of people visit on a B1/B2 or an ESTA to do their interviews and hold meetings with potential employers. Being employed from abroad is normally only really possible if you have relationships, networks, or have been headhunted.
Good video...How one can obtain a job offer from US employer while in Australia?
get some consulting firm to file your visa with some random job offer. once you land in US you can switch to a real project. All that consulting firm has to do is file you taxes to prove you are on payroll.. obviously you won't get paid till you find a real project.
