I drop 1300/month too with a similar principle sum (I know interest is ridiculous right now when we as prime borrowers are pushing up on double digit rates but we chose to sign so it’s all good). People need to understand German cars are expensive. Do NOT buy one if you don’t have either a warranty or 10K at all times in a savings account for if/when things go wrong. People just want the car but don’t consider the long term up keep and even cost of insurance. Thanks again for giving HONEST numbers. Folks need to see this.

Life hack for car guys, buy an old manual civic for around 3k have some fun with it until it doesnt run anymore. While u do that u can put the equivalent of that bmw's payment in safe stocks or other investment. Profit in a couple years and buy 3 cars like this one

Thank you for sharing this ! However, I have to say that « afford » would not be the proper term that I would use in your situation, « pay for » would be more appropriate. When car payment exceeds rent… it can never be good, you could have both your gf and you save for a home instead ! Build equity in it, and then take a HELOC to « afford » so called M4.
