How could this even happen after Queen Charlotte? I was going to overlook the mascara but whoaaa all that highlighter, nail polish and lipgloss and the loss of any historically appropriate banter and lingo. Some of the costumes were downright comical. At least all the Featheringtons gave us a great performance. Pen and Colin both deserved better. At times he looked like Ken doing beach. If the show runner for S4 is the same I will cry.

I couldn't agree more with everything you said. This was by far the worst season for all the reason you stated. Also I was so looking forward to Kanthony and they didn't even have a real storyline. I fear that even though they're supposed to be back for next season they once again will barely be in it since JB is now in everything under the sun and won't have time to be in much of Bridgerton.

Colin in the books was charming. His problem was he didn't have a direction for his life - his oldest brother was the lord, second brother was an artist, and Colin didn't have a purpose. He wasn't icky. The show changes lots of things from the books - and not for the better, in my opinion. Also, in the books Lady Whistledown does nothing to hurt the Bridgertons. She only stabs people who deserved to be stabbed.

I really couldn't believe how much they butchered cressidas arch, and the fact that eloises insanely shitty behavior towards her friends kinda never gets acknowledged in the show makes me think that they arent doing it on purpuse as part of her spoiled and priviledged character

Like yes, whatever she saved Eloise from the Queen, but still heavily affected the lives of other woman around, all for ‘good gossip’. It was fun to watch, but I couldn’t forget about that part of Penelope/Whistledown

I too would have loved flashbacks, like show us Pen falling for Colin, shed been pining after him long enough, i wanna know how it started... And less subplots. Some of the ideas were fine but we dont need to smash it all into ine season

This season was just bad.. It looked bad. The editing was poor. The writing was just, ehhhh. I feel like people are just trying to make it make sense in their minds because its their favorite show, but we know it was bad, lol.

Y'all whining about the threesomes. I loved it. They took up 5 minutes of the season max. By far the most wasted time was on Cressida. Could have cut out her whole storyline for Polin flashbacks

the way that nicola and luke had more chemistry in the interviews than the actual show is crazy. they really did give them nothing to work with.

YOU SAID IT ALL AND YOU SAID IT PERFECTLY. NO NOTES, I AGREE WITH ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING AND YOU WERE ABLE TO ARTICULATE SO MANY THINGS I WASN’T SURE WHY I WAS BOTHERED BY. It’s really disappointing how these writers and the whole production are resigned to giving us mediocrity and trying to convince us it’s gold. We need to hold them to a higher standard, this season was not it, for all the reasons you pointed out, and I hope and pray someone from the decision makers for Bridgerton comes across this video and watches it and takes notes. Just because your viewership was sky high these past seasons doesn’t mean we’ll gobble up a mediocre, lazily written show.

The writing was my main problem this season. Colin and Penelope were side characters in their own story and half of the side plot lines were unnecessary. The only exceptions were Francesca and Lady Bridgerton’s plot lines and even though were half-baked by the end. It felt like the writers didn’t think Pen and Colin could lead a season on their own so they put in a lot of other stuff in to distract us. I know people are mad about Colin’s character literally having almost nothing to do in part 2 but I was more mad at how Penelope had almost 0 character growth by episode 7 and what she did get was rushed into the last 20 minutes of the last episode. Also, what was the point of Queen Charlotte hunting down Lady Whistledown only to do absolutely nothing when she finds her. Don’t waste my time. 🙄

I agree with much of what you said. But the part about Colin's motivations is spot on. It was hard to empathize with the charactor that we never got a chance to know. I think 8-episodes should be enough to get to know/understand a character. The lack of development diminished my ability to invest in the main couple.

27:04 Happened on this. Very well done and I mostly agree. I hope Polin gets more screen time in the next few, cause it was a mess. I love the Mondriches but I feel like they are there own story and actually feel like they are holding up a much more "real" regency. Bridgerton just drove off the rails this season. I hope they get back on several levels

Season 2 slapped us with a slow burn that was entirely too slow. IMO, they wasted the insane chemistry between Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley. We didn’t see their wedding. Or honeymoon. None of it. All the burn with zero pay off. This season varied too much from the book. Colin wrote smut instead of thoughtful traveling journals that detailed genuine adventures. Penelope’s beginnings as LW were completely ignored (making her seem even more shallow and bitchy). LW was bitter and attacked people rather than sparing the under dogs. We get to see her gentle character several times. We don’t see the friendship between Lady Danbury and Penelope (so influential that they name their firstborn, a DAUGHTER, after her). Colin KNOWS about LW before entering into their relationship- he chooses her. He proudly introduces her to society and promises to love to the country with her if there is fall out. Pen and Colin have a backstory that is crucial and Colin shows genuine guilt for his treatment of Penelope before. Show Colin was a good friend to her in S1 and S2 and then a trash husband. It was awful.

I am a Season 3 lover through and through, you bring up good points that I do agree with (styling was whack) but otherwise, the main cause of the other issues is the mere 8/9 hours we get versus an actual full season. I think they did a phenomenal job with the time they had and allllllll of the things they wanted to say. definitely some issues but I will defend it because I love Polin (individually and together) and Frohn and Eloise and Ben and the Mondrich’s, even Cressida (poor girl). and I am NOT alone in feeling that way - season 3 has a DEDICATED fanbase.
