From one in the USA in the year 2024, I say this pastor hit the nail on the head, so to speak. Many "denominational churches" are dead or dying. Pastor McConnell gave this interview 22 years ago. His commentary is as true today as it was then. He had no special magical programs. What he gave people was biblical preaching. The church grew from 10 people to 5500 people. This was possible only because he was filled with God's spirit. In his final public testimony at the age of 82, he emphasized that to the younger generation who were there. He challenged those young people telling them they can do the same as he did if they let God lead them. Pastor McConnell was an encourager, not a complainer. How many "pastors" today do you know of spend lots of time complaining and attacking other ministers? Pastor McConnell spent much time in prayer, allowing God's spirit to speak to and guide him. That's why God blessed his long ministry.

This to me touches my heart as I much prefer to listen to this and do a book on Unfading and adult colouring book. That God has unfading for us all.

We all know that rhe Reformation has triggered the emergence of a lot of errand churches and dodgy pastors. This guy wasn't always right liturgically and was often incorrect in his reading of other faiths, but he was always committed and his intentions always honourable .. keep the comments kind as he was one of the good ones in this life whether or not you shared his particular brand of Christianity

I bet that I wouldn't be welcomed into the Whitewell Tabernacle. As a gay man, proud to be part of the LGBTQ+ community, I wonder what the welcome would be like?
