I had the amazing opportunity to get to learn, study, and conduct this monster of a work. Although this performance wasn't necessarily the cleanest, it still takes a TON of skill to play Mr. Smith's works, let alone his three symphonies. Fantastic job! :)

A bit of a late reply to your question, but there seems to be no acceptable speed. The fastest on TH-cam is that by the Berlin Philharmonic, but I much prefer the middle tempos of either Sir Neveille Mariner or the Slovak Radio Orchestra. A much underrated composer, who I first encountered in the late 1940's on BBC Children Hour. I wish there were many more recordings of Wolf-Ferrari's works.

Why couldn’t we have been this discipline and performed these levels of scores when I was with this group. I was really disappointed when we performed but actually didn’t perform due to our director at that time wanted to showcase himself as a solo artist. I was a flutist and loved the group but was disappointed many times with the leadership of our director. I do love how this group has grown and the level of musicianship. You all sound fantastic. Please give me a reference for the second intermezzo, it is much harder to find and it is by far the most memorable. It was used as incidental music for several children's radio plays when I was a child, but this version is much slower than I remember.

If this is the Houston Pride Band I played with many years ago.........WOW!! How great you guys sound and have grown!!! I wish I had never left Houston, I hope to get back there soon, I miss them soooooo much!!!! G-d Bless you all!!!!!!
