Frosty The Snowman by Louis Dowdeswell | Christmas Lead Licks Day #9
มุมมอง 8K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
Man, this was a challenging one to record that definitely pushed my capabilities as a lead player! Nonetheless, it was super fun to attempt the challenge of playing along with Louis Dowdeswell on his 2018 recording of Frosty The Snowman arranged by Callum Au. Please enjoy Day 9!
Winter Wonderland by United States Air Force Airmen of Note | Christmas Lead Licks Day #8
มุมมอง 5K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is another cool big band Christmas album I discovered as I was searching for various lead excerpts to record for this year. Here is Winter Wonderland recorded by the United States Air Force Airmen of Note arranged by Alan Baylock from the 2009 album “Christmas Time is Here”. Please enjoy Day 8!
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen by Stan Kenton | Christmas Lead Licks Day #7
มุมมอง 94710 หลายเดือนก่อน
As I was searching for tracks to record for this year’s Christmas Lead Licks, I stumbled upon this really neat 1961 Stan Kenton album “A Merry Christmas!”, which features a full brass & rhythm section big band, containing mellophones in the place of the saxophones. This arrangement of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen stuck out for me. Please enjoy Day 7!
Jingle Bells by The Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra | Christmas Lead Licks Day # 6

This swinging up-tempo version of Jingle Bells is from Diana Krall’s 2005 “Christmas Songs” album featuring the great Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra. I hope you enjoy Day 6!

We have made it to our halfway point in our holiday countdown, and I wanted to present the classic 1950 version of the holiday song we all know and love! Here is the lead trumpet melody in Bing Crosby & the Andrews Sisters’s recording of Mele Kalikimaka for Day 5! Please Enjoy!
You're A Mean One Mr. Grinch by Jazz @ Lincoln Center Orchestra | Christmas Lead Licks Day # 4
มุมมอง 1.7K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
I found this version of You’re a Mean one Mr. Grinch arranged by Victor Goines from a 2018 live-streamed holiday concert presented by Jazz at Lincoln Center! Such a great arrangement of a great holiday tune for Day 4! Enjoy my attempt to try and play along with the great Ryan Kisor on lead trumpet! Please Enjoy!
Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow by Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band | Christmas Lead Licks Day 3
มุมมอง 4.1K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
To feature a little taste of Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band, here is their arrangement of Let it Snow from the 2015 record “A Big Phat Christmas - Wrap This!” I remember playing fourth trumpet on this chart back in high school, and thought it would be fun to revisit it and try out the lead part for Day 3! Please Enjoy!
Cool Yule by Louis Armstrong | Christmas Lead Licks Day #2
มุมมอง 1.5K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
This was such a fun track to transcribe and record. It’s a real joy to play along with the great Louis Armstrong on his famous 1953 version of Cool Yule. Although this isn’t a traditional lead trumpet big band track, it’s too hip to not include in this year’s lead licks for Day 2! Please Enjoy!

Laufey is garbage. Go listen to the Nancy Wilson version
looove this arrangement
I loved it!
As a clarinet student who loves this piece I was so happy to find this video. You guys sound amazing and it's so cool you included a clarinet. Amazing job!
Dude this is a great interpretation
Hey Ryan, what horn do you play on?
WOWWW😍can you do grapejuice by harry❤❤❤
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Just FABULOUS!!
Cooool, but i think this must be Player over 250bpm to sound better
Very nice, I literally had this lick pop into my head and to see that you only posted this three months ago 😭 I am happy no one has forgot about this song
hey man, did you just transcribed all the score or you bought it? good sound!
Bravo!!👏🏻👏🏻 Great job!🎶🎶🎶 We love you.
I saw this song live a couple weeks ago it was incredible you do it justice
the slight out of tune between the audio and you is making me so mad lmao
Awesome! I loved your solo, and the trumpet and trombone solis were on point! Great job.
Nice! I understand youre doing alternate fingerings for the high notes to have them be easier to shake, but some of the intonation gets lost lol
I’m confused why you’d want to play these short lead trpt part? Do you think you play them better than the guys who actually recorded them? As I previously said no one seems to record the 2nd trpt part or 2nd alto sax part.
Cause its entertainment, people like watching this shit
Really? You’re easily entertained. I asked a question.. is he playing it better than the people he’s copying? Again…. Also would you be equally entertained if he played the 2nd trpt part?
@@jonburton1935bro what are you doing here, if you knew anything about music or trumpet playing you would know why he posted the lead part instead of playing second
I know exactly why he posted it. There’s a word for it. My question is…. Is it played better than the lead trpt on the recording? Furthermore it’s far less impressive playing 2nd trpt…..when if you knew anything about trpt you’d know it’s equally as important as the first part.
@@jonburton1935 Why are you, at 85 years old, being insufferable in a TH-cam comment section? Call your family members or something these lead videos aren't hurting anyone nor is he claiming to be better than anyone at all! He's just uploading a video series of going through fun/tough lead parts for Christmas, the trumpet 2nd parts aren't relevant at all.
What about trumpet 2?
You know I never anyone ever doing the 2nd trpt part…. I keep wondering why
Amazing!
How long does it take to get chops like that
So würde ich gern spielen können, super 👍
Very nice!
sick
Where’s can I get the rest of the sheet music
sounds dope ryan :)
I want this sheet music player full trumpet
Was just learning this by ear! Turns out I got it right!
I can do this easy 🧢
Where do you get your sheet music?
omg i love this
Trombone solo was very solid
Out standing, fellas!
That intro was disgusting in the best way possible. Great job.
You got that right!
tasty
And congrats on a wonderful junior recital! I know the planning and practice it takes to pull off a good one (and what an ill prepared recital by a good player looks like)
Hey Ryan. This is truly beautiful. I saw the clip on Instagram and wanted to let you know how inspiring this performance is to me. Thanks for the recording
Hey dude! Hope all is well! Thanks so much for this comment! I really appreciate it man, and I’m really glad you enjoyed it! It means a lot to me!
Promo>SM
how do you get those cool glissando?
Ease off of face pressure, Have a clear sound in your head, Keep air moving fast!
Amazing! I love trumpets ❤️
Do y’all got the sheet music for this?
what mute is it youre using ? :o
*doesnt respond*
The drummer has a jazz sensibility, love that Ryan! Inspires me to play the keys again on yt!
Such a fun idea for a concert, and great that you could get so many great musicians to be a part of it. I’d love to put something like this together out in Des Moines, you’ve inspired me!
Thanks for your message Kyle! I really appreciate it! You should totally go for it man, I'm always happy to help in any way I can! :)
Spot on! I love it!
That was good! Can you share the sheet music for the trumpet part?
por qué esto no es viral?
