This is part one of a two day tour from South to North Wales (plus a day there and a day back to Essex). After arriving the day before...The trip starts under the Severn Bridge , through Brecon to end up just outside Aberystwyth. Some dodgy road conditions (end of October) but some great roads and views. Also, check out @Faveridesuk for some more detailed videos of some of the roads.
Taking the ZZR to Ireland part 3

This was the final day of my trip to Ireland. Had planned to ride back to Wexford via the mountains... The route became unridable and I ended up taking the early ferry to ride through the night back to Essex.

Taking the ZZR600 to Ireland part 1
มุมมอง 198หลายเดือนก่อน
This is day one of my trip to Ireland on my recently recommissioned 1991 Kawasaki ZZR600. This is the first time riding it fully loaded with luggage and ,quite frankly, I had no idea if the bike was going to make it! It is a 33 year old bike that had been sitting in the garage and polly tunnel for over 12 years since the day I bought it. It didn't all go entirely smoothly , but hey.. That's Adv...
Gap of Dunloe, Fave Rides, ZZR600.

A 'musical' ride through The Gap Of Dunloe. The pony and traps were a bit of a pain to start with. But, to be fair, it is their territory. A beautiful ride, enjoy.
Fave rides N70 and a little back lane. ZZR600

An on board vid of part of the N70 / 'Ring of Kerry'. Overall, I can't recommend the 'Ring of Kerry' as a ride... Other than these sections. The N70 is kinda full of 'lunatic locals' that want to be going 20 mph quicker than you! I actually had my first near fatal motorbike accident on Valencia Island on this trip. i.e. a car driving straight at me on my side of the road, I just managed to fit ...
Molls Gap, Fave rides, ZZR600
มุมมอง 98หลายเดือนก่อน
The first vid in a series of on board rides along some of my favourite roads. In this vid I take a slightly 'bumbling' ride along the beautiful Molls Gap in South Western Ireland on the Kawasaki ZZR600 D1.
A long vid of a short, second ride on the ZZR, through some lovely Essex towns and villages.

A long vid of a short, second ride of the ZZR, through some lovely Essex towns and villages. Starts with me reminiscing about my past motorbike experiences at 16/17 , then goes on to a , mostly, un-narrated ride through some lovely Essex roads. Ends with me realising that my forks are leaking oil profusely!

Day 1 of my ride to the ABR festival 2024. I rode some lovely back roads and focused on enjoying the journey rather than rushing to the destination. Ups and downs along the way...

Get yourself further north and on some A roads, far too much mud, gravel and hedge rows on those B roads you're using. Doesn't exactly promote Welsh roads for those who have never been there. Porthmadog to Llanberis , Knockin to Betws-y-Coed via Bala and Ffestiniog etc etc, great riding roads and a great meeting place at Betws-y-Coed
Devils staircase at 9:40 ? Not worth all the hype but the roads around Llyne Brainne are stunning, well the views of the reservior take some beating
Nice views but there are far better routes through Wales
Just found your channel & subbed, good to meet other biker channels , I do miss those smaller back roads, don't get them here in Sweden much, cheers & ride safe
Like I say in the vid, they are probably a lot nicer in the summer. Thanks for the comment.
Cool video. Subscribed
Great, thanks.
Be careful where you get your fuel in Ireland, some of the back street and off the beaten track petrol stations sell rubbish fuel mixed will all types of crap.
Yes they collect hydrocarbons from the atmosphere bottle it, and mix it with the fuel they sell.
Owned a few of these. Classic symptom of an air leak between carb and mainifold. Spray some wd40 onto each rubber, if the revs change there's your problem.
That ZZR sounds rough. off a cyclinder?
Sounds like it's bogging down under throttle whenever you set off. Given it's a Kawasaki of a certain vintage it's a given you've more than likely got underlying carb issues of some description. I'd be tempted to pull the plugs and see if they give any indication of the fueling. It looks like you have a std exhaust set up, are all the jets std sizes ?
I had the bike recommissioned before I went to Ireland (see earlier vid). The carbs and tank were professionally stripped and cleaned, new plugs valve clearances checked, carbs balanced and oil and filter changed. I agree that it sounds odd in the vid but the bike runs fine. I shall check for exhaust leaks when I give it an oil and filter change.
Re sound of the bike... I'm not sure. It definitely runs badly on low octane fuel, which was all that was available when I was in Ireland. But this vid was in Wales, I can't actually remember where I filled up that morning, I will check the footage. I am running the bike at 2-4k revs for most of the ride, so barely above tick over. It still pulls fine at low revs and absolutely 'kicks ass' above 7k, so, it is definitely not only running on 2 cylinders. I thinks perhaps the float height may be too high in one of the cylinders (4) hence the cylinder lock too? I may need to look at the carb pressure actuated tank fuel tap too.
Why does the bike sound so lumpy ??
that's strange a ZZR 600 that sounds exactly like a GPZ 500 must be only running on 2 cylinders !
🙏❤️ I love my choke ❤️🙏
Yeh, I'm getting used to it now. It did annoy me at first tbh. I don't have that trouble with the SRAD, I can just let it warm up for a few minutes on choke then off I go.
A481,, from builth wells to hundred house,, then a cream scream mission to a44 to walton b4362. thank me later!
Enjoy it.
I recently rode the A470 from Abergavenny towards Aberystwyth, incredible roads, and the B4405 is another. Julius Caesar must have been a biker at heart!
There are lots of fantastic roads in Wales. It's kinda pick one and you won't be disappointed. I don't think that I have ridden the A470 yet.
Coz bikers LOve a straight rd? Couldnt think of anything worse tbh
@@chrisjames7803 the irony.
That looks like a lovely road to ride on.
I loved it... Lovely views, a few tight bends, and a chance to 'open it up' every now and then.
Don't forget to check out my new Chanel @Faveridesuk
@@Screamifyoumeanit just subbed 👍
Nice …….. 🙏🍩Love from Scotland 🍩🙏
Thanks... Scotland is kinda next on my list. It's been on my list for a while, just too far on the KTM and too expensive in the Alfa! It would be lovely on the ZZR though, off to Devon tomorrow.
Mine fitted perfectly, just saying
Looks like you could do with a new chain
Chain and sprockets are good. Given them a clean , oil and checked the tension. I've done about 2.5k miles since this vid, so all good so far. Thanks.
I’m not really into bikes so don’t know much about them, but that looks a damn nice bike to me.
Thanks mate. I love it and it has taken me to Ireland and Wales over the last month or so. Well worth digging out of the weeds!
You keeping making videos I’m gonna have get out and start mine……
Get it going. I'm loving mine since getting it back on the road, I think Ive done nearly 2.5k miles on mine so far. 1500 in Ireland and 800 miles in Wales last week, off to Devon in just over a weeks time. Lots more vids to come, the start of the Ireland trip next Gospel Pass fave rides on Tuesday (these are easy to edit) and the start of the Ireland trip next Sunday (though not finished editing that yet, it seems to end wrong atm.
@@Screamifyoumeanitwhat's the story with the honda....❓❓❓
@@MpFz14508 Mmm... Annoyed the hell out of me TBH (lots of past vids)... So hard to work on because everything( frame & engine) are so tight together... You kind of need to remove the radiator even to replace the spark plugs! And then the new 'Chinese' fairings didn't fit! TBH I just gave up and moved on to a new project. It is a lovely bike though, and I will be coming back to it at some point in the future.
Would love some outside shots of the bike Sir.
I have a few vids in the pipeline, starting with the Barn Find vid i.e. getting it out of the pollytunnel and re commissioning it... Not the best vid , but shows where the bike has come from. Then part one of the Ireland trip, probably mostly onboard vid to be honest. Just go back from a 2 day run from south to north Wales, I did make the effort to do a 'drive by' once... There will be three or four great 'Fave Rides' vids though!
thanks for the video however it didn't need the music
Thanks, fair point... I am starting a new channel called 'Fave Rides UK'... Just 'Enjoy the Ride" type vides... Just don't expect wheelies and lunacy though! I will put a music free version on there... And all the future vids music free too.Thanks.N.
‼️ She’s looking great ‼️
Thanks. Done a few bits and pieces to her over the weekend... I.e. cleaned up the fork oil from the front pads and disks ( forks still leaking for some reason). Changed the LED headlamp bulb because the one I had in before seemed to be able to rotate itself & I ended up blinding people on the way back home. I also cleaned & oiled the chain... So should be good for a trip from south to north Wales next week.
Nice to see you 😊
That would be Molls Gap ...... Do it early morn very early morn or you will be dicing with lots of traffic.
Thanks, yer I did notice the mistake after I posted it. oops.
My 1993 zzr 600 been sitting outside unused for about 10 months. She a bit of a porker even in metzler M9 RR’s and I’m getting old . Great video
Thanks, @Captain-Donut. Mine had been standing for over twelve years! I decided to get it recommissioned i.e. tank and carbs cleaned, this was the first trip away on it. I'm old too, I tend to 'bumble around' these days.
@@Screamifyoumeanit absolutely at 60 I tend to just potter around. ( and Brakes are shocking bad., rebuilt good pads )She’s still super fast tho. Glad to some still on the road . Drive safe Sir.
Well that appeared to be a lot more bother than it ought to have been, I hope you've got the other side's board in now or have you given up on them.
‼️‼️ What a great Story ‼️‼️
So... Does it work? And where did you get the (full) kit?
Sounds sorted!
I’m getting mine next weekend!!! Super excited. Thanks for the video
Oh nice one, congrats. I went for a nice long ride on Bank holiday Monday, 100 miles/ 3hrs pretty much non stop. very comfortable to ride and quick when you want it to be. I re did the fork seals today, I'd put them in upside down... oops. There will be a more ZZR vids coming soon.
2:14 A bugatti Chiron in the rain like that....standing in a muddy puddle filled ground??
Do you know what forks fit on the 600 SRAD?
I think it is the same frame as the 750 so if you change the triple clamps (to K6) you should fit the K6 forks in too.
Mate, always remember that you are there to have fun and enjoy your bike.
You drunk bruv?
Great video, keep it up
Hope you feeling better mate. First time on a track day is still boss. 👌
Thanks, still in a bit of pain. It was 5 weeks ago now , only just starting to feel like getting back on a bike again.
I have the same bike I need a new rear shock to
I can recommend the Nitron, a bit expensive though. I'm getting the carbs cleaned and tuned up professionally next week, I'm fed up with taking them in and out of the bike and it still not run properly (or leaking)... Though he did explain that the needles probably just need lifting one notch. Thanks for the comment. I looked at your vids. That big hole in the engine looks a bit scary!
Yes it scared the crap out of me when it blew up
You could push that quicker round those bends lol
This mod is rubbish and bypasses the OEM engineered filtration. You need to stop futzing on your bike and concentrate on riding technique to go faster rather than cheesey mods.
I recommend you install this to ruin your engine and void your warranty!
Nice... how much to sell ?
Not looking to sell, it's just a project for me... Make me an offer...
Would of went on a hill no bother or a push start🎉
It's not a bike to rely on in 'tickovr.
If you were totake out the carbs make sure you put that plate with the trumpets back on as ot holds and stedys all the carbs together. otherwise you risk causing leaks in the fuel line linkages
Somtimes mine wont start if its been sitting a while. But all you need do is head for a hill and it will go with the push. But maybe clean the carbs if its been sat so long. Your fuel pump could be clogged. Order a new honda pump clean the carbs and it will go if you have given up on it try that

You must be enjoying the 390 Adventure as it appears to be getting more use than your SRAD at the moment. As you mentioned before, It's fast enough, plus good mpg, comfortable and it'll go off road.
Thanks, yes, loving the KTM... The SRAD is sorn'd for the winter ATM. The KTM just goes when I want it to, it never misses a beat. I could never had done a long trip like that on the SRAD, I would ache all over... Saying that, I could do with a comfort seat on the KTM though!
Like others said, you are bypassing the filter. Not a good idea at all. The air enters from the bottom and up through the filter. You are just bypassing the filter altogether.
