Read, God Dammit! There are those who seem to be bricks here, yeah it had Ammo onboard, but the question is the secondary explosion it or the boilers. Ammo tends to cook off, boilers can explode on contact with seawater, Lusitania and her sister ships were of poor design, each were done in quickly when damaged (All 3). Sorry, but those who were down below decks on Lusitania are all dead and can't tell you which exploded, but my guess is they were unhappy with the result.

Wonderful animation and story. The worst part about the sinking is that those civilians were used as human shields. The Lusitania was carrying weapons and ammunition in its hold. The Germans were aware of the munitions on board and placed notices in American papers declaring that the Lusitania would be attacked because of it's cargo. The Americans and British knew this.

The wreckage of the Lusitania was found, it was loaded with ammunition and rifles for England. The US broke the neutrality treaty with Germany by allowing this. You have to wonder what nations sailors were manning this ship because they made one mistake after another after another like this was their first voyage. I would have been that one asshole on the top deck yelling "SQUEEL PIGGIES SQUEEL AHAHAHAHAHAAAA". Especially when the panicking crew were dumping lifeboats full of passengers into the drink.
