This is such a sad incident. Dewey, what an excellent video! The background music is perfect to set a tone of sadness. Your voice is flawless. The old videos are so important. And your work in uncovering and sharing stories is much appreciated.
Thank you for your kind words.
Good job Dewey!👍👍
The bridge over the interstate I remember going to watch the Beatles go by and President Kennedy!
3041 Gordon Circle, down in the woods is where we use to live! It’s really grown up now days!
Nice work! Appreciate you!
Actually there was three ballfields at one time, the field with the stone stands is where Hapeville high baseball team played.
Thanks for the insight.
Hey,Dewey I really enjoy your video's ,I lived in hapeville from 1970 through 1977 on Wheeler Street, thanks for your great effort,I really miss my home town
I am glad the videos bring you enjoyment, Clifford.
I'm one of the survivors! Thanks for sharing!
I'm a survivor of this tragedy and I want to say thank you so much, Dewey, for this video.
Thank you
So good to see you
Dewey you are right. The plan is to get more people into Hapeville. That in itself is not a bad concept but the problem is, where are they going to put them? There is only so much room in that little town. Especially if you want to keep it as a nice quiet little town. I-85, I-75 and the airport have made sure the city limits can't get any bigger. I do agree with restoring all the old beautiful homes to current livable standards. Keep the trees and parks. NEVER lose the charm that is Hapeville.
Your favorite house on Arnold street was the home of a dear friend of mine that some may remember fondly. Her name was Jessica Buchannan. She was a very good softball and basketball.
They were made as Kitty Hawk. I grew up in Hapeville and went to school there. Jo Wells and Hapeville High School. Class of 78.
Thanks!
Love the butterflies. I live in Pensacola, Fl now and we have Pelicans which are so cute.
Dewey, I SO love you and LOVE your tours of our beloved Hapeville !! I was the daredevil on my bicycle and would befin at the top of Maple Street. Thanks for the memories !!!
Mr. Anderson lived there (Norton Home). Yes, he was blind. Used to feel the top of my head to see how much I’d grown. 😂. Amazing home and grounds.
Is there pictures of Union Avenue during the 1950’s Lived in 1st house, where cars parked in what would be our yard. Just pass little grocery store….
We used to play kick ball on the lot at the corner of Lake and Jackson. Sorry to see that lot gone!
Is there pictures of the houses on union avenue my family left 1960
My grandmother would come to then Candler field to watch the wing walkers That was to earn money
Late 1950’s I walked from Union Avenue to Hapeville High
Had a friend who lived 2 blocks from the high school
Graduation 1960 in gym
Hoping you are feeling better
Good to see you again
My heart goes out for you
In my childhood we would see the crop dusters
My grandmother would tell us about the wing walkers. How sometimes the walker would fall
Thank you for the series of walks... I have enjoyed what you have done, however, I do not understand why you think that format is better... It blanks out both sides to make the focused picture so much smaller... It makes the video much more difficult to watch, especially while walking with all the shaking invcolved.
Hi friend. The videos that are formatted vertically like this are because they were recorded during a live stream using Facebook Live. When you live stream the only option available is vertical like this. You'll notice that when I am not live streaming the videos are in landscape, which is also my preferred format. Thanks for watching.
@@thehapevillechannel Thank you for your response, but that does not mitigate the distraction... There must be a way to get around this beyond "because they require it". At any rate, I do appreciate what you are doing... I was raised in Hapeville from 1948 until I left for the US Navy in 1959... My heart is still there in so many ways.
@@patdickerson9642 I'm sorry it distracts you as much as it does, Pat. I'd suggest then watching only the videos that are in landscape format.
I can remember when Roy Rogers and Dale came to visit the Children’s Home
Thank you for sharing
Went to school with Perry Hudson
Sang in choir First Baptist
My friend wedding was married at the Methodist church
Myrtle corner was chiropractor office
Was a chiropractor office on corner….big yellowish building
Hapeville Ga? I grew up here. I lived here from 1985 till 1990. I attended Josephine Wells Elementary school and swam in the Hapeville pool. Such great memories.
I lived on Wheeler Street when I went to JoWells in 4th grade and we actually entered and exited school from the stairs on the side. My crazy memory seems to recall there were about 4 levels with a small platform between each, straight up into the school or perhaps a concrete platform just before the school's side door. I rarely used the front door of the school.
I met a lady that survived the hotel fire
Around minute 4:25 +/- where you say “We will go up there some other day” There was a cute little house on sale that I fell in love with. Seems someone else is buying it now. Only learned about Hapeville recently, but that street by the park stole my heart.
It's a great street. So cute over there for sure.
Sorry 3624
3630 owners of the little grocery store lived
I never remember the query. During the late 60s/early 70's it was lined off just like a football field. The football team practiced there in the afternoons and the marching band practiced the half-time shows up there in the mornings.
I am thinking it was filled in sometime during the late fifties? Robert Myron Ridley remembers playing in the quarry when he was a boy living in the Dutch Forest Duplexes in the fifties.
Did anyone find this cute birdhouse?
I never knew whether they did or not. I have to allow that whatever I place out there may or may not be found. I hope someone did, anyway!
Thank you my family lived in house next to little grocery store.
Pat Gardner was one of my best friends. Her mom was so sweet
Ms. Wells was my English teacher
I took drivers ed. This is where I learned to drive.
Went to school with Perry Hudson
