Your Spark Solo Challenge! - Ryan Thomas #yoursparksolo
Uploaded this to instagram a few days ago, but I'm proud of it so I wanted to add it to my YT as well! I had to have a crack! This backing track was a great challenge to get right, I’m a bit crook at the moment which didn’t help, but I think it turned out alright! Playing my srv into a vox ac30 with a duellist, that’s about it! Many thanks to @chrisbuckguitar and @yamaha_guitars for an awesome opportunity to win a great peice of gear, and congrats to @thecardinalblack on their new music, it rips!
Good luck to all and greetings from Australia 🇦🇺

Wow!! I had an amp very similar to this one when I was in high school. Mine was probably late 60s early 70s. Kinda comparable to a Princeton. Wish I still had it!!
Is the low end pretty tight on the JM?
@@fistchips yea man, honestly the tightest amp I’ve ever played across the board. On the lower input gain setting you can get it a little less tight and more give, but on the higher ones it’s super percussive. With the deep switch on as well as the bass pretty high up it does get a little flubby but I can’t imagine a situation where you’d need that much low end. I love it!
@@fistchips edited the text for more info. Thanks for watching!
I’m considering ordering one. I have the OTS 20 and it’s great on the overdrive channel but I like the fender ish cleans of the JM model.
@@fistchips yea my mate William who’s on this channel too, he used to have the robben ford one. Which I kinda thought the same thing regarding the cleans. I absolutely love mine
07:28 very sweet slow dancing 12:06 vultures jam
Beautiful tone! Great playing!
@@BeefNEggs057 thank you so much!
Smooth sounding lines you got there!
How do you get the Derek Trucks tone?
Just heard the Fishman noiseless in a strat, i imagine they would be kool as well thru this amp!
Nope. Noiseless is for sissies
Is that a Navajo necklace?
Awsome Brava sweet
Yeaaah dawg 🎉
Really nice playing man!
Thanks a lot dude!
Hey mate, Great playing as always. What pedal did you stomp on for the 'Belief" solo? That sounded fantastic
Hey man. Pretty sure I used a kingtone duellist!
This song so incredible! Make me smile in bored hour :)
Thank you so much!
Great playing. Really brings out the octaveness
What are you usually running the bass at? I rarely can get it above 1 😅 Is this just the cab I'm running or is it the amp itself?
Hey dude! lol mine generally sits at around 7.5 haha. What cab/speakers are you running?
Also make sure you don’t have the deep switch in as well, if I run the deep switch (mostly at home) I’ll turn the bass down to like 5-6
What are your favorite positions for the switches?
So the mid boost and bright switches I don’t really use, the deep switch is awesome for at home but it does get a bit muddy when playing with a band. The gain mod I almost always leave on the original lowest setting, although it’s good to have the options for a more punchy SRV type sound. The reverb I like as bright as it can be as it’s already quite dark, and as for the nfb and lnfb switches I can’t remember exactly but it’s the 2nd most bass-e one lol. Hope that helps!
Great playing!
Thank you!!
Wow, I wasn’t expecting that? Sweet touch you got there. Gorgeous sounding amp.
Thanks so much mate!
Hey man awesome! Couldn’t help notice a lot of noise when you kicked on the drive. Was that the blues power? Or the single coils? Great vid, clearly an amazing amp
Thank you! I did have it quite loud so it’s mostly the coils and the blues power! It’s a pretty low noise amp overall
Is it a Green Ringer clone? ...or what is this based on?
I just ordered a JM50 with Mods from Nik. What speakers are you all using with you JM's? Awesome playing and tone Ryan!
Hey dude, awesome! In this video I use my 80’s Marshall cab with 2 g1265’s in it, but since then I’ve gotten a 1x12 with a two rock g12 65 speaker and it’s awesome! Hope you enjoy your amp and thank you!
please more please MOOOOOOOOOOORE
amazed at the tone....blown AWAY by the talent stunning literally hypnotized by this video MORE
Sounds awesome but Kingtone pedals are just ridiculously priced. Not saying you shouldn’t pay for quality, but when a dirt pedal approaches the price of a medium class tube amp something could be argued to be a bit out of balance …
Nailed it…
0:26 to 0:32 incorrect key?
No mate, all pentatonic with one of em being from the pentatonic of the 4 chord, which is why it sounds a bit out there in comparison.
Hey man, nice tones and playing!
Thanks!
Great playing. You are 2nd John Mayer.
Thanks dude! Appreciate it!
Otro buenísimo trabajo Ryan, me ha gustado mucho mucho, enhorabuena y gracias, like 8
Brilliant 🎉
Thanks!!
Beautiful, thanks for sharing this. Can I ask about the treble bleed mod. When you have it set to “original” is it as if the mod wasn’t installed? Thanks in advance. Keep up the great playing brother 🤘🏼🤌
whats the gear u used? sounds very good!!
what's your signal chain at 5:15? i just one and i put it before and after a germ Fuzzface and it is bright as hell both ways.
Hey dude! It’s been a long time since my board looked like this (sold a lot of stuff) but I’ve got the steel string by vertex, going to the duelist, with some delay in the stomp and that’s it. The octave sound is a very bright one to begin with, so it’s always gonna be a bit “too bright”, maybe try using it with the neck pickup and see how it sounds? I did a first video of this which I wasn’t a big fan of cause of where I placed it in the chain, so I unlisted it but you can watch it here - th-cam.com/video/bQuxaBaemU8/w-d-xo.htmlsi=679jVgXUeDZLoRA- It depends on your rig, generally it’s a bit weird with the fuzz, (changes the impedance so you don’t get that glassy low volume thing) so I’d try using the argonaught after your fuzz, and then maybe some overdrive like. A tube screamer or something after that? Hopefully that helps! Cheers :)
How's it compare to the Duellist?
Great playing dude 🔥
Hey bro, superb playing… just wanted to point out that your amp name is pronounced “cherry-a-tone” … superb amps. Have been mates with Nik for a decade… keep up the great videos! :)
Hey mate! Thank you very much :) yea a few people have told me I’ve been saying it wrong since these videos have been done 😆 when I do the new ones I’ll make sure I get it right :)
why demo an amp with an always on pedal?
I did an updated one recently without it! Should be the fav John Mayer riffs near the top of my channel!
Great sound and playing! What is the envelopefollower you are using at about 12:00?
Thanks heaps! That’d just be the stock one in the line 6 stomp :)
This is the best Argonaut video out there, real world user tips and great playing. Awesome tone 💯👌, subscribed 👏
dayum you've got some great chops and I dug your phrasing and you had cool vans on too that's probably about as much as I've complimented anyone before. nice tones btw 🤘
I love to see youth with the right priorities
What tubes did u replace the old ones with? My dad has that amp and I'm having trouble finding equivalent replacements for the originals. Btw, those new tubes u installed sound amazing; really brought that amp back to life imo.
Hey I’m so sorry I missed this! Just had a look now, when looking at the back from right to left v1-5 I’ve got the following V1 - Tung-Sol 6EU7 V2 - Tung-Sol 6EU7 V3 - Philips 6AQ5 V4 - Philips 6AQ5 V5 - Jan 6X4WA
If you don’t have the tremolo version one of these tubes wouldn’t be necessary, but I’m not sure which one. Hope this helps!
Nailed "the sound"
Keep up the great work! Awesome content! Man, that's some wonderful playing ❤️ You successfully made me buy the Argonaut - no regrets.
Thanks man! Really appreciate it! If only I earned commission! 😆
Great post thanks, so if I'm going to play this through a Princeton Reverb would I place it before or after my Analogman King of Tone overdrive?
Hey man thanks! As a general rule I like to have the thing with the most gain last, so I would put the KoT after the blues power, but experiment with it and see what you like, having a lower gain after shapes the tone a lot more and will be a much different sound!
You figured it out alright! Nice to hear some white-hot blues phrasing.
Hi bro i saw that you have a Marshall 2525 head, you can achieve a srv tones with that amp? Greeting from Argentina
Tastee licks indeed🤘
Out of the seven amps I own, if I could only keep one, it would be my 65 Amps Marquee Combo.
It’s an awesome amp bro! Thanks for watching!
awesome Brava very pristine moves
Cheers mick!
