    I used to wood carve when I was younger. Really satisfying. I found it. To be. I've made waking sticks canes carved animals. Bowls and spoons. And small work boots and moccasins as trinkets to sell people display them,also liked carving small shotguns and rifles. Out of ceder or red wood. . people seem to like that too,, I love these burl look on this. Some nice stain would bring it out I think. Very well done. Good job,,

    Amazing just watching you create. I to create canes/walking sticks. I do power carving because my arthritis allows that. My shoulders ached watching you. Do you let the elements naturally color the shaft? Did you carve the stick wet or dry? Once again beautiful work. People don’t realize the skill and work involved.

    Skip to 6:47 - 6:57 for knob polishing scenes. Lol Actually it does look a bit green for carving but the finished product looks great. Unsure if he realizes it but what he has made is a very close version of the Irish Shilleighle or wholloping cane. Very good job.

    WHAT KIND OF WOOD IS THAT - #CHERRY - ?

  • @thingsofsuch
    @thingsofsuch 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well. There is one obvious thing about this stick here. It will break or crack. That wood is still super green and not seasoned at all properly. I am by no means an expert but this stick might have just been cut for all I know, it still had a patch of green moss on it before shaping began. What is it? Cypress? You know. What that stuff is used for? Mulch. And not much else. I don't expect this to be for fighting but if it does not split open you did a good job nonetheless.

    • @beaktb8089
      @beaktb8089 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      this is a piece of juniper, and i assure you even if it did crack it will noot break
