Hi! Your125 sounds nice and throaty! Nice to see the power, suspension, and speed improvements over the 1971 YAMAHA ATI 125 I once owned. Checking now to see if your 1980 125 is faster than a 1971 Yamaha 175. Damn! They're close! I used to try poppin' out a few (haha quite a few) dents on my motorcycle tank with a piece of wood.
I go one these when I was 14 in Oklahoma, mine was orange while the rest of the guys got the silver version. At the time, not sure about now as I no longer live there, you could get a license to drive at 14, one of the restrictions was the engine could be no larger than a 125. It sure was fun to drive to middle school and to have that kind of freedom at that age, I loved this bike and wish I still had it! I recognized the sound of the engine the moment you kicked it on. Thank you Clint for posting this as it felt like I was on that bike again as the other gentlemen posted.
You just made me feel 16 years old again. Im 48 now but when I was 16 I had a DT 125 same year same color as yours. Man for a little bit there it was like I was riding it again. Thanks for bringing back the memory's of my 1st bike
I've got the 100 version. There's two clear plastic hoses that run from the carburetor down to the bottom of the frame. Overflow hoses? anyways make sure they never plug with mud or the the two cycle oil will gum everything up and push gas down into the transmission.
Great little Bike, I've got the 175 And still love riding it.
Great dirt bike. I used to have the 100 DT version. Reminds of my teenager years.
