El Mirage .. ..❤
Funny, l saw it years ago as a belair 4 door sedan?
đẹp ghê
show car is subjective
They eliminated the egg crate gill vents - my favorite feature on the 1970.
That is literally a jewel of a car, so beautiful.
I should have got one in the early 70s. Oh will
I am going to call this car "Gold Finger" I never liked the color gold myself.
Awesome
👍
I had actually found one of the first '55 Chevys made. It was #12 IIRC with engine #7, which was a 265 2-bbl. I initially was looking at the engine, and suddenly I was shocked at the number. It was a 4-door sedan, sitting in a forest. I tried and tried to get somebody interested, but back then, "It's a 4-door." I can't remember the color. And of course, you spend $50K to restore it, only to hear about somebody with #11. It wasn't in deplorable shape, but it was borderline even back then. There is actually a very early Nomad, I think with a lower serial number, but #12 that I found was made on the East Coast, so technically in absolute time before the Nomad. Also, I don't know that the Nomad had its original engine. I had also heard about the 50 Millionth Chevy, essentially the same story, the guy was ever so slowly restoring it. I thought he had the bumpers gold plated even when I was involved with the Chevys, about 30 years ago. I guess nobody knows where that car is now, which is unfortunate.

Grew up across the street from his shop in River Rouge. Ever nosey I was, I would wander off and hang out at the shop watching them repair/ paint/ build cars. I have no idea why I told them my name was Karla! This was early 80's. Now, as an adult, I realize the magic I truly watched
Great story, thanks for sharing. You were lucky to see history in the making. 👍
Contrary to popular belief, the 265ci small block from 1955 is not Chevy's first V8. That honor goes to the Series D, built between 1917 and 1919, although I believe all were sold as a 1918 model year. It had a 3.375 inch bore, 4 inch stroke, 180 degree crankshaft, and was rated at 60 horsepower.

Too bad the real one was lost forever…
I had heard they built a few of those, but they were 4 doors with 6 cylinder engines?
The team who built the Tribute car did extensive research on the history of this car. Here's the full story. There were three (3) 2-door sport coupes initially built. The first two were used in promotional work by GM to create a buzz on the pending event before the actual 50 millionth car rolled off the assembly line. The third car in this group was the 50 millionth GM car with all the bright work gold plated. Subsequently GM built a number of 4-door sedans to capitalize off of the notoriety of the 50th millionth gold-plated car. Several of these 4-door are still around occasionally show up at classic car events. Almost had a 55 four door and always loved that style and one day I will get a 55 2-door and make a gasser out of it, just like the one I remember as a kid … ❤️ Love the story of the Golden 55 ‘s, 1,2, 3 .
👍
what is the paint code for the gold paint
GM did not use a standard paint for the Gold Chevy. It was a special mix which was not assigned a code. The Tribute car was painted a gold color to closely match photos taken at the time the original 50 Millionth car.
My dad and mom's first brand new car was a 1955 Chevy. I was 6 years old when they got it, and it's still one of my favorites
👍
This car belongs in a museum
👍
Being a special car, it should have came with a four barrel!!! A power pack 265 😊
She’s a beauty but can I add that the air cleaner was black ? I just watched a video while they was actually building this car at the plant
I've heard about that car, I've seen pictures of it but its nice to be able to see it after 70 years as it was back then, Awsome job! Great video, thanks for sharing that beautiful piece of G M history .

That car is as ugly as Traitor Trump's gold high-top sneakers. 😂
That 1st 1967 Camaro that was recently found was painted gold too.
I was thinking about skipping the Autorama for the first time in about 20 years but I would love to see this in person. I know it’ll be right at the front door for sure 👍🏿
Yes the car has a special display area already reserved up front. Also the team has put together a lot of historical material related on the car which will be available for you to see - this alone will be worth the price of admission. Please stop by and ask Dave or Mike to get a personal tour of their build (just say I sent you). Let them know you saw the video and be sure to tell Mike that he did a great job in the interview - he is now a TH-cam star! 👍
That would be a great car for President Trump to display in Trump towers. Gold is his color!! 2024!
Cool, manual and all🤠
Sure does make a guy really scratch his head wondering where the original may have gone and why GM didn't hold on to it. What an absolutely beautiful recreation.
The original was in a shop fire and then cut to pieces. There were 3 50 millionth cars but i believe that was the true car.
That's really Special...take good care of that...Beautifull
How do you sit and take a walk at the same time?
Why doesn't Donald TRUMP own this car? Just sit there. Just sittin there. Just sit there.

@@eclassicautos5101 I had read an article before I saw this video that said this build began with those. My father was a collector and I can remember projects being started by a small conversation. The money and time that went into this has to be the most expensive build I’ve ever seen started by something so small! Just coincidence that I happened along and saw this.
