      I am sorry to hear that your father had a stroke. The medication can be used at different doses and in a variety of ways and even for different medical issues, so simply using an opioid antagonist does not mean his doctor was prescribing it for use with the Sinclair Method. Additionally, when people have supportive family members who take the time to understand the process of the Sinclair Method, people reduce their drinking by more and faster than when they lack support. We are not drug manufacturers and so "your drugs" is completely off the mark as we do not have drugs. We do not own them, market them, profit off of them, or even have any type of relationship with the manufacturers. We help people who want to recover find doctors, mental health professionals, and peer support. And we actively tell people that if they are not seeing results, they should talk to their doctor about another method.

    Finally someone who understands that you can't reason with an alcoholic. It's a disease of the survival mechanism and no amount of talk therapy will work. Alcohol addiction is litterally one part of the brain telling another that alcohol is a nutrient and that makes them excited about consuming it. It has absolutely nothing to do with spirituality like AA claims. I left AA btw

    I'm @ 95 days sober, and I can't see staying that way as the cravings are brutal. Especially with summer here. I'm "white knuckling it" as the saying goes. I am physically dependent, as I need to detox after a binge, with benzos. I've been to rehab 3x in the past year, as I couldn't detox on my own. Every time I went back, I ran into people that were there with me before. I'd love to hit that point of extinction, to where the cravings don't preoccupy my mind. My Dr will prescribe Naltrexone, but I'm afraid of what might happen when I take that first drink. I'm at a loss...😑

    it definitely saved mine. 20 years of drinking heavily, uncontrollably, reduced to "normal" drinking after 3 months of TSM and abstinent after a year. It's been over 4 years now and I'm still flabbergasted at the indifference I feel towards alcohol and drinking. I get to go to concerts in bars with no fear of slipping up like my experience in AA taught me. I'm considering donating to the C Three Foundation because I know it's going to help others the way it did me.

      You are right. No one will solve addiction on the internet. That's why we help people find doctors, therapists, recovery coaches and peer support groups. The Sinclair Method isn't a magical internet cure. It's a treatment backed by science that uses medication and is built on Pavlovian principles. And it allows for both harm reduction and abstinence. It's an empowering treatment meant to improve health and quality of life.

    • @swerth
      @swerth 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oddly, being University educated and financially stable seems to work against sobriety. I've been 'taken' before by promises of sobriety which is very disheartening. • @OptionsSaveLives
      @OptionsSaveLives 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Two things to remember here: #1 - Just like everything else, TSM isn't for everyone. If you are sensitive to the medication, there are others out there that also have science backing their success. #2 - Only about 10-20% of people experience side effects. The vast majority say the side effects are completely gone in 10-14 days. There's no research that we are aware of that says those with IBS are more (or less) likely to experience side effects. That's why we always suggest you are open with your prescribing doctor about all medical conditions and medications/supplements so that together you can make the best decision for you. We do not believe in a 1-size-fits-all path to recovery. TSM helps a lot of people. But only you and your doctor can decide if it's right for you. If it further irritates any other medical condition, then looking at other options might be better for you. What good is recovery if you sacrifice your health to get it? We firmly believe that recovery should lead to a better quality of life all around.

    I don't drink, never have. 54 years old. Never married, I've had 3 relationships w addicts, significant others. You could say I was deceived until it was obvious. All of them I tried to help, unsuccessfully. Free of them now, no contact with all 3. Zero contact. I sympathize but will never have them or any other addict in my life again. It is and will always be an immediate deal breaker. Their problem is not my problem. I wish I would have understood that many years ago.

    • @OptionsSaveLives
      @OptionsSaveLives ปีที่แล้ว

      We always tell significant others that they also need to take care of their own physical, emotional, and mental health needs. If you are not able to be in a relationship with someone who is struggling with addiction, that is actually just as good for them as it is for you. Too often, loved ones unintentionally trigger their partner to want to drink more and to suffer through additional cravings because of judgement and shame. It is always helpful for the person who is trying to make attempts at recovery to be in relationships (romantic, friendships, etc.) with people who are capable of meeting them where THEY are and with what THEY need. No one can "fix" another person, but they can be there for them. If that is something that you know you are not capable of, then I commend you for not unintentionally making it more difficult for someone who might have loved you to recover.

Anyway, Kristen's story and her experience with the alcohol free days really help me not be afraid and to also disassociate "sobriety" and "abstinence" from my own goal which is to be a normal drinker and have alcohol in my house and think about it the same way I'd think about olive oil, or cranberry sauce for roast turkey dinners, or any other ingredient.

    • @OptionsSaveLives

      No potions involved, but considering how many people use medication assisted treatments, including naltrexone under the Sinclair Method protocols, to achieve a lasting abstinence it's not "luck" that's needed. It's science and a bit of effort. If people could pray away addiction, or if religion helped prevent it or cure it, no one in the religious realm would ever suffer from addiction. We all know that's not true, though.

  • @Last_Green_Man
    @Last_Green_Man ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi Jenny, I'm 2 years late, but thank you so much for this stream and your presentation... just got to the part where you ask for questions and no one was really biting. For what it's worth, your story and logic have really helped me. I am 2 years "sober" thanks to AA but long story short, AA no longer works for the mental booze obsession and I just can't compute with the basic fundamentals of the program anymore. I can no longer be "rigorously honest" with myself and the group and say I believe in the so-called absolute truths of the program. I am working with Samara and at this moment am waiting for a call from a physician to get a prescription. I love the rationality and actual science of TSM and am intrigued and actually excited for a change about my future. Thank you and Claudia again for all of this great material. In my mind this is some great 12 step work that is really helping me through what could have been a very tough time.
