Hi Naomi, This is SOOOOO good! I do have a few points regarding your coverage of Mr. Fripp, though ... First, Elton John was apparently hired by E.G. Records, without Robert Fripp's knowledge or consent, to sing on In the Wake of Poseidon. As you point out, though, Fripp put a stop to this plan after hearing Elton's vocal work on Empty Sky. In addition to Fripp, Al Stewart apparently took guitar lessons from Fripp's original guitar teacher, Don Strike. Strike apparently taught both Andy Summers and Greg Lake along the way as well. Trey Gunn, who played in both Sunday All Over the World and King Crimson with Fripp, is an ex-Crafty Guitarist. IIRC, the members of KC's erstwhile opening act the California Guitar Trio are (at least in part) ex-Crafties too.

You ever start listening to an album and INSTANTLY know you'll love it? I listened to your favourite bits, stopped watching the video right there, went to listen to the full thing and even while I was still listening to it for the first time I already knew it was among my favourite albums of all time. Very, very few albums have ever done that for me In particular, that segment you shared from The Deadly Dream of Freedom is also my favourite bit from the whole album. Second time I went through the album, I reached that bit and actually started laughing because of how much I loved it

for a personal one that I really love, well firstly I'd have said one of the Simon Williams covers for Pendragon, but I already know your opinion on how busy those are (but I really love The Window of Life), so looking elsewhere, well a Roger Dean cover would be far too obvious, so looking some more... honestly Visitor 2035 (self-titled) and Concept by Canamii come to mind as really banger covers

This one really left me feeling cold--- there's nice moments on it, but they're so few and far between that I can't really say I enjoy it all that much. "Chinese Mushroom Cloud" really had some potential, and for some reason it kinda reminds me of the Alan Parsons Project's "Sirius"? Shame it's basically over as soon as it starts though. Also, Wise After the Event might have one of my fave Anthony Phillips album packaging, but I'm unsure how similar it is to TG&tG musically...

9:05 recently that's something I noticed about my taste too. I've said in a previous comment that I have no issues with bands sounding like other bands; if you give me a cake and then an identical copy of that cake, I'll just get excited over having double the cake. However, if you're just gonna create your own version of the same song then I'll like it less, like with Grendel by Marillion: most of the song sounds decent to me, except that one part that just sounds like a discount Apocalypse in 9/8. That just sounded pointless to me edit: oh I forgot. You mentioned the singer didn't sound that much like Jon Anderson. If you haven't already, give their song Fountains, from the next album Fountains of Light, a listen. There's a specific part towards the end where he sings "the edges of the sky" that sounded so much like Jon Anderson that it makes me double-take each time

second favourite rock album of all time for me (second only to Masquerade Overture, their previous album), plus A Man of Nomadic Traits is my single favourite song of all time, just because of how much I loved its solos (well, at that point it's basically an instrumental section) your video did remind me of a question I have though: what's wrong with getting more of the same? I see people complaining all the time that "x band just sounds like a clone of x other band" or that "this album sounds too similar to their previous work" and I genuinely don't get it. I don't understand how someone can think "Man I really loved how this album sounded! I hope no one ever makes anything like this ever again!" the impression I have right now is that I don't enjoy prog and neo-prog for the same reasons as others. I don't seek any ground-breaking music and never did. I just happen to really like the general sound, so I'm a lot easier to please (however this does means that there are sounds and songs that others will find mind-blowing that will do nothing for me)

One of my personal faves! Fave tracks are also "Dark Ages" and "Warm Sporran," plus the plodding "Orion."

Just let Piero Scaruffi, the king of music critics, sit into Tier 1, for introducing a lot of people into Krautrock, Canterbury Scene, Space Rock / Drone Music / Early Electronic Music.
