Thanks for the great tips! Please share an update to show the growth rate!!! Any suggestions for spacing along a property/fence line? I’m thinking of planting six little gems 12 feet apart…is it worth waiting several years for the tree width to grow in?
😊 Thanks
Cerise (sur-EEZ) is French for cherry.
You keep calling them Cannas. There is a difference between Cannas and Calla lilies. If you wanted them for a wedding they are Calla lilies
Yes, don’t know why I called them cannas, I put a note in the video of my mistake
How long do you let the seeds dry out and where do you put the seeds while they're drying out
I let mins dry out until spring
Bought this and the mounting bracket was missing, took it back and got what I need now, still gotta install it
Enjoy
Looks great.! I just planted a Deodar Cedar on my property and I love it.
Love ours as well
So, saw no followup? Did they die, or thrive? I was hoping to find something to help me before I tear my plants apart but I don't know how this turned out
They lived last summer but ALL of my dianthus were killed in a late freeze this past spring, even the ones I’d had for years. In addition many of our crepe Myrtle trees were killed back buck luckily they all put out new growth.
Would you be willing to share any of your seeds?
Where are you located?
No Description information in the comment section
I will look at that. Thanks
I got that link added.
Ok thanks
.
I’m considering different Magnolias for some privacy and visual interest… Do you have deer in your area/yard? I’m looking for evergreens or beautiful ornamental flowering trees that are deer proof or extremely deer resistant…
Yes we have deer but so far have not bothered the Little Gem. Arborvitae haven’t been bothered yet and supposedly deer resistant but I’ve seen where gardeners in the northeast say deer do eat arborvitae. It may be they’ve left us alone because they have so much more to eat in our woods and other areas of the property. You might ask a nursery in your area about the green giant arborvitae to see how they do locally…they would give you privacy about as quick as any tree I know.
Did these survive the division?
They did! Unfortunately I think the super freeze got not only these but my other dianthus this past winter. They are usually hardy for us but not this year. But yes they performed well after dividing last summer
I see those brown / purple leaves as my plant . Was it because too much water or sun ?
They prefer morning sun and afternoon shade in our area for sure. I planted last summer and they appear to be slower growing than some of my other hydrangeas
Try Neem oil
Okay I will, got a new bottle. Thanks
I have several that are inside grown in coconut seed starter and are the small single green leaf. I transplanted some not a mixture of seed starter soil with some soil. it is May and is in the 70's here in Wisconsin. When the sun is out I take the small containers out--I only transplanted one into each container. For a couple of weeks they have just been single leaves and don't seem to be growing any further---what do I from here? Should I try moving to full organic soil? Do I wait and try to be patient? It has rained a lot lately and strong winds so they are trying to grow in the garage with filtered outside light....what do I do now?
I would say be patient. Mine didn’t really do much until the second year. Many times when starting from seeds, you may not see blooms until the second or third year. Thanks for watching.
My littles got me the perfuma rose these year as well, and a miniature rose I think it's a kadora (I'm debating keeping that one inside). The PEA rose is already planted and has so many buds about to pop. Im new to roses so 🤞🏼 but I cannot wait to cut some of these later in the summer for my own vase flowers. I may have new obsession starting 😂 hostas already have me
Awesome, I’m new to roses as well. I hope I can keep the Japanese beetles away from it! Keep me posted on how yours is doing. Thanks for watching!
@@splendidgarden7b the beetles are a battle, they have ate all my morning glory this year before they could even get their true leaves. 🤦🏼♀️ The rose blooms are opening and so pretty, I got some Captain Jack's Cooper spray to ward off any fungus since I hear roses are prone. So far she's doing pretty good 😊
@@bershelleparks5035 thanks for the tip on the spray. Good luck with the beetles. I’ve quit using the traps, I think they made them worse.
i got the same rose but mine is so white zone 10a
@@gracierivera-hudson9634 My blooms are very white with a hint of pink too. I’m hoping next year when the rose matures I’ll see more pink.
These plants grow wide i think that pot is too small
They were all planted in the ground
Did they make it through the snow storm?
All but one, and it did but appears it is now dying…I’m guessing it’s diseased.
@splendidgarden7b That's awesome. It's so encouraging to see the things that you are growing. Maybe I will have good luck planting those same plants in my yard.
Hey! I'm so glad to find a garden channel that is in my zone. My Hibiscus came back this year, too. I planted it late last year. I'm enjoying your videos. I'm in Ramer Tennessee. Good luck with your channel.
Oh awesome so glad you found us! You’re just a few miles down the road…we are in Hardeman Co. Thanks for watching.
Clearance Plants!!! Showed up after a storm to them filling a pickup for the garbage!😮 They let me take what I wanted as long as they had the tags for their records. Glorious day.
Oh wow that sounds like a dream!
@@splendidgarden7b It was. Over too soon now I never wanna pay lol
The roots of mine got all all dried out and goldfish but the top all green and blooming…How do I fix that, pls advise 🙏🏽
Not sure why you’re able to see the roots unless you’ve dug them up. The roots are yellowish in color.
@@splendidgarden7bmine did the same thing this year, it’s surviving nicely but it’s laying on the ground like a loose rug
Thank you for showing us how it's done. I have a lot of seeds formed in old flower heads. They are still green. When do I pull them apart?
I would let them dry and then harvest the seed for sure. I’ve done it when green and dry is much easier! Thanks for watching.
Hey!! Do you mind providing a link to when you pulled the seeds from the bulb from the rooted plant? I’m in bed as well and I have one Cala lily area that is thriving. Plant is six years old.
Would you share with us what type of soil conditioner you use?
Apply Milky Spore to your yard. You apparently have to kill the grubs in the yard for the Beatles. They destroyed my yard last year. It was awful. Look up what to do with Milky Spore. This is the best I have found. Best wishes!
Thank you I’ve not had suggestion! I will look it up.
Does this Gem Magnolia shed the leaves asking for my husband 😅😅
Yes they do but since the Little Gem is supposed to be a smaller end product I hope not as bad. We had a regular magnolia at our last home and my husband really disliked it! I personally think the reward of the beauty of the tree is so worth it and I can’t wait until my Little Gem is big enough to use its branches for decorating. I used our last tree to make large door swags, wreaths, and fireplace swags during the holidays…they were so gorgeous and looked like I spent a bunch of money! Just tell your husband you’ll take care of the tree cleaning 😀! Thanks for watching.
Glad u made this video, this is a very real example of what even experts do in terms of splitting because they know that plants are very hardy and can take a lot of abuse if cared for rightly afterwards. I've done this many times to my plants, killed many in my beginner years, not because of the way I split them (exactly how u do it, and honestly sometimes I just rip it out completely because the original soil is like a brick), but because I didn't do any aftercare. Cutting off blooms, keeping them in the correct soil medium, keeping the soil watered, keeping them in full shade, no fertilizer until new growth was visible, only then did, all of them make it. Dare I say it the hard handing actually made the plant grow stronger roots because there wasn't much to begin with. Don't be afraid of killing your plants guys, they are much stronger then we give them credit for, and if they do die, it's because they were weak in the first place, or they didn't have the proper after care. Great video keep it up! Love from Malaysia ❤
Thanks for watching and for your kind comment. Plants here in the US have gotten so expensive I try my best to multiply with what I have.
Saavy Dirt Farmer has taught me so much!

They all make great bonsai too
I’ve never tried bonsai, but I thInk the art of bonsai is beautiful! I’ve got a couple boxwoods I want to topiary this spring. Thanks for watching.
U sexy wit the tabagon on. I wear one all the time in winter myself
How has your controller been working? How long does the batteries last
Yes working well but we’ve cut it off for winter. We used up to October and it still showed 75% battery life left. Thanks for watching!
@@splendidgarden7b thanks for the reply. What kind of usage. I want it for propagation for like 10 seconds on 10 minutes off during day operations. As long as it'll work for the propagation season
Yes works for propagation. You can set it to spray for seconds up to however long and program it to go off every few seconds or every few minutes or up to hours it really let you set however, you want it to go
Soo sweet ❤
Awesome ❤

Don't smash the jap beetles. The debate is that this will cause to release a pheromone that attracts more beetles to your area. Hang some traps far away from your garden. They are attracted to the trap and could bring more from surrounding areas to your garden if it's close by. The best thing is to tough it out. They come in fast and furious but don't last that long and everything should leaf back out. Good luck gardening! Enjoying your videos!
Thanks…yeah I think waiting them out has worked best but boy does it give me satisfaction to smush those suckers!
I have two of these trees. One I planted in my backyard and another one in a big planting pot in front of my home at the beginning of June of this year. They both are doing well. My trees are only 3ft tall and the tree in my backyard bloomed two flowers a couple of wks ago. I'm going to try the neem oil because I'm having the same problem with the beetles. Research neem oil and see if it's something you may like to use for your tree.
I have some Neem Oil and will look into that for sure. Sounds like your Little Gems are thriving! Thanks for watching.
Yes those are huge 😱
