What about water proofing? Plaster is only going to wick water to the inside so you need to have a break from outside to inside. I have always instructed builders to build dpc in the center of the cavity (or between the 2 brick leafs if no cavity) all the way around like they did in the good old days for timber windows. This dpc then is seated in the channel of the aluminium outer frame to create a break. I have not met a true artisan in a long time here in South Africa. It should be mandatory for any project over a certain value and duration to have an appreticeship program. Or at the very least, detailed instructional booklets to be issued to home owners and builders at the time of plan approval. Building inspectors should then ensure implementation. I see too many home owners using unskilled labour for tasks that should be done by skilled artisans and the building inspectors turning a blind eye.

Excellent! I need this video because the installment guys in my place installed the door wrongly. The sill was buried side by side with the balcony which make them has the same height. As the result, rain water gets into the room whenever it is raining. My only question is why one side of the door needs to be in the fixed place (unmoveable)? Why not make both side become moveable?

This video does not show the top lugs being drilled in and the window in placed in the cavity, in fact when he taps the top of the window it is not secure. Secondly it does show how the window is plastered as a final product. A poor installation in my opinion.

On the top rail there is a narrow channel and a wider one it does not say which side faces inside and which side is for the sliding door or fixed door

Hi...fantastic doors thank U...just a thought, when my doors got delivered, both doors had been scratched...if the cardboard ran all around the outskirts of the doors this would not happen and Your clients would be 100% happy:)
