Great review. Bought the Levo SL 23 model and it’s amazing. I’m 52 my son is riding places I don’t want to go and this bike is ideal for an intermediate level rider. After a year I’d consider shorter cranks, fork upgrades(previous pedal bike had fox36 performance) and bigger rotor and brake lever upgrade. Does everything and keeps me out there.

love love love the contis, i have 4 sets of them (mainly argotal front kryptotal rear as im in the uk) absolute best tyres ive used, the one thing id like is them to do is release the enduro supersoft as dh casing isnt necessary on the front and i know some people want a trail soft too

Considering getting this bike as atm its available for £3450 in the uk. Ive got a Trek slash 8 atm. Would you say the levo will feel the same even though its 10mm shorter travel? Also im 177cm and unsure what size would be best! Lastly i don't understand why specialized haven't out a 35mm stem on the levo! Seems unusual nowadays to have 40mm stems. @44:58 @57:20 Maxxis Minon's are rubbish the transistion from top to side knobs is lacking, they feel like they are sliding till you get them on the side knobs compared to a something like a Maxxis Assegai, if your new to mtb don't buy minon's they will give you no confidence what so ever!. You have to be an aggressive rider to ride them cranking the bike over quick. I run Maxxis Forekaster v1 for XC trail, Assegai and Dissector for the rougher stuff on my bikes. wouldn't mind trying the vittoria's or the continental kryptotal.

One of the biggest feature points that you did not mention is that there is a map function within the mobile app. When connected to any of the GME XRS range of radios the UHF also transmits a GPS coordinate of where the transmission was made and this position appears on your map as well as the map of anyone else connected to a GME XRS radio receiving your transmission. It is possible to cache an area of interest from the map to your mobile phone or tablet so that it is available offline when there's no phone or internet available. You're also able to add kmz of tracks, way points and other areas of interest to the map. As long as there are multiple XRS UHF being used by people in your group it's great when someone is off the trail, or has bogged their 4wd and needs help or has spotted something interesting or you're looking for a campsite etc. Their location is right on the map in front of you and anyone else can easily come find them.

Even on my regular bike I prefer a hydra pack, you don't have to stop riding to drink and the only downside I've found is my back gets a bit more sweaty

Do you know what the range is up in the mountains? Pretty new to radios. Would a 5w handheld get more distance than 3w radio in a vehicle with a larger antenna?
