Its not a guessing game, Decades of aquaculture research leads to commercial production of species, their are specific goals achieved by researchers which culminate to the ability to complete and sustain an aquaculture species commercially. In Australia the main species we are trying to commercially close is called P. Ornatus, we can grow a egg to adult but commercial scale mean a low mortality rate which is difficult due to their long and complex life cycle. It took decades to close the 'shrimp life cycle' and so it will take for your species of 'lobster'. I study aquaculture and fisheries science fyi.

If they get a lot of rain I doubt you could pump in salt water fast enough. Lobster tend to stay out in deeper water where the salinity doesn't vary that much. A sudden change would shock their systems. I'm guessing they had a good sounding pitch and got some investors to back the boondoggle.

Sounds like a great investment - lots of growth potential, no downsides. Lucky I didn't see this in 1994 then because the company went under in 1998!
