Lazy Gardens l What to Expect After You've Ordered
"We do not recommend eating them whatsoever" - Here older ppl say it is really healthy (idk if there is evidance) and I was eating leaves my whole childhood. It was on every roof and in every backyard in my village.
That's very interesting thank you for sharing! I believe the voiceover says "however" and not "whatsoever" as more of a caution against eating it unless you’re totally sure it’s the right plant and know how to use it properly. It's good to stick with advice from people experienced with it. :) Thank you again!
I, too, have sharp spines on my tubercle breasts.
So helpful! Thank you😊
Glad to hear that it was helpful!
4:40 I noticed some of the arms are yellow. Does that mean the arms are new ? Old? Too much light ? I have one so I’m wondering. Thanks!
This is more variegation! These euphorbia can be a little unstable and variegate this way, sort of like how they can revert back to green. Usually those pieces don't do as well because this lack of chlorophyll is pretty hard on the plant.
I live in nyc and my succulent has been losing leafs since the fall :c I'm so sad, it doesn't receive much sun light and also is more palid now. I was thinking on getting a growing lamp maybe
Grow lamps are always a great idea! It's easy to underestimate the amount of light succulents and cacti need.
What if my plant is not growing at all? I got a couple of them over a year ago and they are exactly the same size as when I planted them.
Check on the growing conditions for this plant and see if you need to make any adjustments. It might be putting itself into a sort of dormancy from a lack of proper conditions. Are they getting enough bright light and proper watering? You might try fertilizing as well in the warmer months.
Great video, I got a bunch of useful information here, thanks!!
We're so glad that it helped! 😊
Mine has blue lines in the trunk. Since blue is not common in plants, does that make it more rare?
We would love to take a look if you're able to send us a photo of your plant. Email us over at info@lazy-gardens.com thanks!
Question is direct morning sun good for my Lithops?
Direct morning sun is okay since it's not as harsh as the afternoon sun :)
@lazygardens_ Omg thanl you so much have a good day
I highly recommend this for people who don't have time to water plants a lot. I went through a deep depression and didn't water mine for months and it's still going strong. Every time I water it after a long period of dryness, it perks right back up and always pops out a new section. I love this cactus. ❤ Thanks for the info!
It really is a very forgiving cactus!
I'm worried that my booby cactus is either rotting or has a fungal infection! What should I do if it's rotting? I already repotted it in cactus soil a few weeks ago but its still a little yellow and the bottom of the stem is mushy. Would it be best to chop and prop to save the top part of the plant? How would I tell if it has a funal infection and not rot? Any tips would be helpful!
If the stem looks like it's only getting darker brown and mushy then yes! The best thing to do is save as much as you can of the top. Make sure to let that end callus over before replanting, and water very, very sparingly. Since it's (almost) winter you should be reducing watering anyway, and it might be a while before you see roots/new growth form. Rot will be very dark brown and really mushy/soft, whereas fungal infections tend to be a lighter brown and spread out in a splotchy way (tends to be more around the areoles).
When to graft a moon cactus?
Whenever one of the bulbs is big enough (about the width of a dime) you can take it off and graft it to a new rootstock. You can do this whenever you'd like to have more moon cacti, or if you are salvaging your plant from rot/overwatering.
So we bought a booby cactus that was the top soil had rocks super glued into a pot to become a magnet and but we wanted to grow it so now it’s root system is kind of not doing good. But the cactus itself is seems to be ok. Is it OK for me to cut off that bottom portion of the cactus and put it in like a rooting powder and replant? Will I’d reroote itself It’s only about 3 inches tall in total.
You can do that if you'd like! Just make sure to let the cut end completely dry out and form a callus (sort of like a scab) before planting it in well-draining soil. Then give it some time for roots to form before watering.
Very nice video. Very nice information. I bought one Moon Cactus this week. The top is Red. 😊😊
They are such a fun cactus to have!
You’re video has been the most informative thank you!!!! 🥰
You're very welcome! Glad it helped. :)
I must add, the pot sizes seem a bit too big if using the planter in pot method. Overall, good sizes for planters and plants. Great video delivery as usual. 😁
True! For the lazy method of placing a planter in a pot without doing a full repotting, a neat trick we've learned is putting some small rocks on the bottom to help lift the plant up 🤭
@@lazygardens_ Ahh yes, wonderful idea. That will get it to a nice adjustable height. Thanks for the tip. 😁
I live in Illinois and it's getting cold would they survive the cold or do you send heaters along with the plants?
We recommend adding our 72 hour heat packs to orders if you live somewhere where temperatures are starting to drop. They're inexpensive and they help just in case to keep them safe!
Wow Wonderful Cactus ~ Thank you for good sharing LIKE 29 My friend, have a good relationship 😊
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it :)
Is it ok to keep it under a Growlight all year round ? Or does it need to rest in the winter? 😊
It's perfectly fine! :)
I love this succulent ❤
**Update: The latin name of this plant was changed to Cleistocactus colademononis
Such a beautiful addition. Strangely havent seen a monkey tail in my area, curious to find one, and add it to my collection. Nothing like a little primate energy in the garden 😆I really like the cliffhanger planter too!
They’re so fun to care for and you’ll find it’s very rewarding. :)
Hi, once my soil dries out completely should I immediately water it or should I wait a few days/week(s) to water again after completely drying out.
Beautiful specimen and lovely video. I've been keen to look out for any crested cactus plants in my area, as I really want to add one to my collection and see it grow. 😁Though would've put it in an "all naturale" pot 😄
That would be a lovely pairing! That’s one of our favorite planters 🪴
Thank you so much for explaining the moon cactus. I actually thought I was killing mine.
Blue candle cactus is pilosocereus azureus. This is why i don't like to use common names. Theres so much confusion for newbies.
We agree common names can get confusing! Traditionally we’ve seen Pilosocereus azureus called the ‘Blue Torch Cactus’ due to its longer spines giving it the torch ‘glow’ while the Myritillocactus geometrizans is referred to as the ‘Blue Candle Cactus’
Love the videos. You are so thorough.
Thank you very much! We try our best.
Learned a lot in this video. Thank you!
Glad to hear that it helped!
Is it possible to grow a new little gymnocalicium top from one of its little cactus balls ?
Yes, good question! You'll have the most success by taking one of them and grafting it to rootstock. Check out the propagation section starting at 5:13 of this video.
Where to buy the boobie cactus? Any tips?
We have them available over in our online store! :)
hey do you need to repot them when you get them ? or can i keep it how i bought it ?
No, you don't have to repot right away but we think it's more fun to pick out a nice planter! You could even just put the nursery pot right into a new planter (sometimes we're lazy like that). Just check to make sure that the roots of your plants aren't bound and need more space to grow out.
@@lazygardens_ Thank you !
Thank you for this good video appreciated 👍☺❤🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Thank you very much! Glad that it could help.
Thank you for the information 😊
Our pleasure! Hope it helps. :)
Is it possible for the Moon Cactus to regrow its Gymnocalycium? Recently i had to cut it because it started to rot, even though the bottom part is perfectly fine, and i was curious if it will grow back
Hi there! If you've completely removed the top, then a new gymnocalycium will have to be grafted onto the bottom part since they're two different plants. This happens sometimes so don't get discouraged!
@@lazygardens_ sadly the Kaktus died too after a few days, I didn't expect that at all. But thank you for your answer! ❤️
I'm late here but they're two different plants and the moon is grafted to the thick stalked one. They need eachother for survival.
I love the 'caboose'. Its such a good pot! Need it, as well as some living stones, the variety that exist are amazing, though they have very delicate care tips if you dont want them to die. Great video!
Thank you very much!
It’s not about succulents I’m sorry but how often should I water my string of hearts? I’m getting it imported and I’m very nervous I’ll over or under water it
String of Hearts is a succulent so no worries! Water whenever the soil is completely dry and you should be just fine :)
This is the video I was looking for. Straight forward lithops care. Thanks!
Glad it helped! Cheers!
What kind of plants are those?
Lobster Claws or Cheiridopsis Candidissima!
After watching this, I know I need a mammillaria cactus in my collection! Its just so unique and beautiful! Love your unique cactus and succulent collection.
They're definitely unlike other cacti haha and thank you!
Im one of those that confused the long donkey tail from the burrito short one. Thanks for pointing that out! 😁
Happy to help!
Wonderful video. I have a ruby necklace that I picked up from a local store, it was quite dry, in that the stems look like long sticks, the leaves are blood red (beautiful but not quite sure if its healthy) and it does still have growth coming out as bright green stems. The flower it made was bright red too. Wonder if its a different variant or its just a really sun stressed necklace 🤔The tips in this video will help a lot at least. Thank you.
Most likely just light stress since more light will make this go from green to red, but if it's turning brown and dry it may be sunburnt so be careful :)
The pot was just glorious! Wonderful video, love the comic additions and subtle hints at things. Just really adds character to the videos. Very Demure, Very mindful! 🤣
Hahaha thanks so much!
Just love the 'All Naturale' pot used for this voluptuous cactus 😄Just totally adore the editing style, the calm music choice, the graphic options and the clear and beautiful representation of the cactus. Keen to see more unique and wonderful succulent and cacti care tips!
Thank you for all of the wonderful comments! We appreciate it. :)
Immediate chuckle at this, Gorgeous White Ghost, thanking you for check in a demure and mindful method😁
Our pleasure :)
re: 1:37 Water I found your method the easiest to understand and follow.
Thank you! We find it works best for us :)
Can you grow a dragon fruit from just the bottom half??
The bottom half can be left to grow new shoots of it's own, but we cannot say how long it would potentially take this plant to grow fruit.
I've seen demure and mindful, but never like that ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😂❤❤❤
Excellent😊
Wow...😊 Nice dear👌
Thank you very much!
Where did you get that pot?!?!?!? I’m planning to give one of these as a gift and that pot is perfect!
We offer them in our online store, listed under the name The Caboose! www.lazy-gardens.com/collections/pots-saucers/products/the-caboose-pot-saucer
What if I got the top part of the moon cactus that was never grafted to the bottom part?
Hi there! Can I ask for more clarification on what your question is? Are you wondering what the care instructions are for Gymnocalycium cacti?
