Watched the hole tutorial then saw him turn on a transmitter with no antenna all credibility down the drain right there 😅 stop making tutorials if you don't know what yur doing

This is great! I hope to find a SMA connector to desolder from an old router...that would be perfect! I have some black hot glue, that should make the final result very good!

Try this on esp 8266
Heute haben wir drüber Diskutiert, um eine BTT Cloud im 3D Drucker zu integrieren. Werde es mit einem SMA Kabel machen. Danke für das Video. Das bestätigt das es doch einfacher geht als gedacht !
Die Antenne funktioniert aber nur wenn die Buche auf Masse liegt. Ich würde bei direkter Anlötung des externen Antennekabels die Abschirmung auf das Blech mit der ESP Beschriftung löten. Ich verwende ein ABS (Plastik) Gehäuse. Oder eine Verbindung zur Masse an den Anschluss legen wo die Masse (Abschirmung) von der Antenne angelötet wird im Falle das die Buchse nicht auf Masse liegt.
Need to cut the path to internal antenna, or completly remove intenal antenna path . The output of radio freq will totally going through external antenna.

Mal Gedanken bei dieser semiprofssionellen lösung über den ESD gemacht ?? Der fehlt dank der Trennung nun komplett!

why you solder two to wires? cut-off pcb antenna and solder one wire only
I know that it's an old comment, but still... one reason would be if someone will use an antenna on the end of an small extension coax. Those have a shield and that must be grounded to avoid signal scattering. Plus... it adds stability to the connector.
Auch rechts für die Masse etwas weg kratzen und Masse links und rechts anlöten. Auch wenn das Masse-Signal nur links ankommt. Das gibt etwas mehr Halt. Evtl 2-Komponenten Kleber verwenden, dann hält das für die Ewigkeit.
Das BLE Signal geht auch über die Antenne raus!?

I'm 2 for 3 attempts at this... The first two increase range a lot. However, the board is really unstable. It panics and reboots after a few seconds. I'm sure I'm screwing it up somehow...

Can I do this for esp8266
Habe meinen ESP32 im Heizraum zum Messen des Füllstandes der Wasserenthärtung, hatte ca 22% Signal und der ESP ist immer wieder mal abgestürzt. Hab dann eine externe WLan Antenne einer alten Fritzbox angelötet (jedoch Kabel direkt ohne Buchse) und das Ergebnis war Super. Jetzt 55%Signalstärke und keine Abbrüche mehr !! Top!
Thats a nice add on. Only thing I would suggest is to use a little liquid flux when tinning the board connections and soldering the SMA to the board. Will allow for a better, well soldered connection. That will help the RF path significantly... no dirty joints and better flow.
Ein bisschen mehr FPS wäre schon gut...

not sure what you mean. You can use this video as a guide for Bluetooth and wifi antennas.
Ich hätte eine Frage, was bringt die Antenne und für was kann man sie benutzen. Möchte mir gerade eine ip kamera aus einem esp32 bauen, aber ich befürchte das der esp32 nicht mehr unser wlan erreichen könnte.

@@kilian5158Radiowellen. Damit kannst du dann besser Radio hören/empfangen. Kannst es aber auch benutzen um Flugzeuge anzufunken. Die Antennen haben eine Reichweite von ca 15km.
@@manfredhackstock418 Oder wenn man das Modul in einem Metallgehäuse verbaut, kann man die Antenne nach außen legen.

Nah, for these odd hobby purposes just use 60/40 flux solder. Perfect video, excellent solder work. Use of hotglue to fix it mechanically is of course highly recommended.

Theres a few things I want others to know if they watch this. 1) NEVER TURN your devices on without an antenna attached! This will burn up the radio... 2) The soldering work in this video shows exactly how not to solder. When dealing with radios, its VERY important to take care with your solder. Too much is a bad thing, wrong tips is also a bad thing, and of course too little is bad. In this case, the author uses too much solder while tinning and then has to apply a lot of heat to get the solder to spread out. This will cause problems that you will not be able to figure out. Low signal, dropped packets. With that said, good video on how to add an antenna to an ESP32.

@@manfredhackstock418 wifi and bluetooth share the same hardware, if you modify one in this way, you modify the other. see esp32.com/viewtopic.php?t=982
Actually yes, WiFi and Bluetooth (and ESP-NOW for that matter) share the same RF I/O hardware. There is no other antenna for it to use. They all operate in the same frequency band so there's no reason _not_ to share that hardware. The only ESP32 board I know of that has another radio is the one with cellular connectivity and even then it's actually a separate chip on the PCB providing that functionality, not the ESP32 itself.
