Suzan Verberne - Fluid Art
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 7 ม.ค. 2009
Hi!
I am Suzan from the Netherlands, and I would like to share my passion.
When I was very little, I wanted to become a sorceress.
When I was a little bit older, I realized that that only existed in fairy tales.
I then decided that I wanted to be an illustrator, because that is also magic on paper!
When I was 18 I went to the Art Academy, and I wanted to be a drawing teacher.
Because later in life, I had to be able to earn money.
I was not at all, ready for that at that time, too much hassle growing up.
I then did almost nothing with my creativity for more than 20 years, and became a social worker.
In the spring of 2023, I discovered Fluid Art, and started trying it out.
That was the best choice ever, and it feels like I found a piece of my identity and passion back!
I hope in this way I can mean something to others, be it with beautiful images, or that I can teach someone else something of what I love so much.
Thanks so much for visiting my channel,
I hope you enjoy
Love Suzan

Fluid Art Blowout with a Hairdryer - Learning Other Techniques and Discovering How it Works
Hi!
I am a swiper, definitely not a bloomer!
Of course I have tried and practiced with it.
But with mouth blowing I'm not very good.....
I can manage the size of a coaster, but bigger with the mouth, that's definitely not my talent.
I'm not really into making blooms either, but I think Karen's deconstructed blowouts, and Jessica's Hide and Reveal blowouts, are incredibly cool!
And I would like to learn that.
Not the symmetry (with normal blooms), but the dynamics appeal to me.
Surely those are movements and effects that you can never quite achieve with the palette knife.
So I have now bought blow-dryer number 4, the flat-face blow-dryer from FluidArt Co.
And settled on making my CA thinner.
I was a bit stubborn before, and wanted to try it with a thick CA (1:2).
But a thinner CA is really necessary to spread it well with the air over the other colors.
I still have a lot to learn, but I have been on the road with this new blow dryer for a few days now.
And about this one I am cautiously quite satisfied.
But I need more practice, so you're probably going to see them come by more!
I hope you like my journey of discovery.
Actually every painting, no matter what technique, is an exercise again,
and that is how I learn!
Thank you, and see you soon
Love Suzan
How I make my BASE:
Talens Art Creation Titanium White and Owatrol floetrol (1:3 minimal water added). I do this in portions (cups) of 35 grams of Titanium White and 105 grams of Owatrol, and usually add 5 grams of water. I make larger stocks of this, and always try to let it rest for at least 2 days so that it has fewer air bubbles...
The colors I used:
TLP Abalone
TLP Billabong
Golden Interference Gold (fine)
Golden Iridiscent Bright Gold (fine)
Golden QNAG
Golden Prussian Blue Hue
Amsterdam Greenish Blue
Jo Sonja French Blue
I MIX MY COLORS also with Owatrol floetrol. Ratio depends on the pigmentation and thickness of the paint, also a very small amount of water added for consistency, but slightly thinner than the base.
I first wet my PIGMENTS with a little GOLDEN GAC 100 until I have a paste. Then I add a small scoop of binder (Caparol). I also use Owatrol as PM with the pigments and that is not paint. It therefore lacks the binding. And I personally don't like it when colors become 'runny'. So that's how I solve it. Then I also add Owatrol floetrol to this, I do that by eye, in the same consistency as the other colours.
I make my CELL ACTIVATOR with acrylic paint and Australian floetrol (for the blowouts 1:3). I used Amsterdam Oxide Black here.

Fluid Art Hide and Reveal Swipe - Benevolence - Quite a Chaotic and Dramatic Composition!
มุมมอง 2737 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Hi! I'm making a Hide and Reveal painting here, with a black 'faux pillow'. Of course, I was also quick to follow when Fluid Art Co. released a Limited Edition Pigment (Benevolence) to raise money for the Hurricane Relief Fundraiser! What a great deed, because from each jar of pigment, $5 went to the fund. There were 2000 available all over the world, and they almost sold out, amazing! In addit...
Fluid Art Hide and Reveal Swipe - Trying out Two New BOOM Gels
มุมมอง 79119 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
Hi! I made another Hide and Reveal with black, but this time with other kinds of colors. I had two new BOOM gels and I was eager to try them out. Flame Tree Red and Stirling Wax White. The nice feature of the BOOM gel, when you put it behind the cell activator on the palette knife, it makes the cells very firm. Similarly when you do a scope and drag, keeps the cells together nicely and makes it...
Fluid Art Hide and Reveal Spun Out Swipe - Dancing Water Snakes in Outer Space!
มุมมอง 347วันที่ผ่านมา
Hi! I learn so much from looking back at my own recordings, I would recommend it to anyone! The right amount of base paint and then the layers, the total amount, remains a difficult thing. Quickly I have too much, which also sometimes results in me not spinning off enough of it, so the paint and design do stretch more than expected later on. I see that when I have applied my layers, by that tim...
Hide and Reveal Swipe with a Black 'Faux Pillow' - WinterStrom.art Inspired - Stunning Outcome!

Hi! This is just a beautiful Hide and Reveal! No need to add many words here. Once again pleased with the switch from varnish to dissolve the pigments, to using Golden GAC 100 instead! Oh yes, and my cute little “fork” plays a role again. The traditional Hide and Reveals with the black 'faux pillow' (invented by Jessica WinterStrom.art) are getting better and better for me. The fork is really h...
Fluid Art Hide and Reveal Spun Out Swipe - Biggest yet! Popping colors with a Blue 'faux pillow'
มุมมอง 32814 วันที่ผ่านมา
Hi! This is my biggest canvas yet! It's 40 x 60 cm, or approximately 16 x 24 inches. By the way, my second one, I made another one. But I wasn't immediately convinced about that one and was still hesitant about whether to show it. Now that it's dry, I'm starting to like it more and more. But maybe I'll continue with the brush on it.... Back to this one. I did use a color palette here, which I'v...
Hide and Reveal Swipe with a Black 'Faux Pillow' - Playing with my Little 'Fork' Palette Knife again
มุมมอง 36414 วันที่ผ่านมา
Hi! Here I made a 'Hide and Reveal' Swipe with a black 'faux pillow' again, on a larger canvas than I have done before. Once again I am trying out what other options are with my 'fork' palette knife. It's such a nice little thing. Here I also spontaneously decided to try a 'scoop and drag' with this palette knife. You can't see it very well while I'm doing it. But it does work, the lines remain...
Fluid Art Negative Space Swipe with Warm Autumn Colors - Experimenting with a 'fork' Palette Knife
มุมมอง 27114 วันที่ผ่านมา
Hi! Another video where I experiment with my 'fork' palette knife. I haven't had enough of it yet! The thin lines, and the cute little cells in between, so satisfying. Here with a warm color palette that also can hardly go wrong. I love autumn! I'm challenging myself here with a rectangular canvas, which is trickier for the paint spreading anyway. I try to explain that in the video as well. But...
Fluid Acrylics - Experimenting with Fall Colors, lines, scoop and drags, and my 'fork' palette knife

Hi! In this video I was experimenting. I wanted to do something with negative space, warm colors in layers, line work, and playing with my “fork” palette knife. It's not just a cake fork, but really a palette knife from the art supplies store! And I already absolutely love it. It produces such beautiful thin lines, and the cutest little cells appear in between. When I make swipes with it with t...
Fluid Art Hide and Reveal Swipe with a Black Faux Pillow - Classic
มุมมอง 83921 วันที่ผ่านมา
Hi! The last few days I have focused on the classic 'Hide and Reveal' technique of Jessica Winterstromart. These things happen automatically, if something doesn't work out for a while, or I don't get any good new ideas... Is it eventually possible to organically return to something else. And these were a while ago since I did them. With the black 'faux pillow'. But I've grown, and my swipes are...
Fluid Art Partial Hide and Reveal Swipe - Yellow, Green and Blue Color Explosion

Hi! I was frustrated last week. Not a single painting was to my liking, nothing really worked out well. I've never had so many jars of scraped paint. Sometimes it really gets into my head too much and it makes me insecure. Nothing was good enough for a video. And I'm not entirely sure about this one either. But the colors work great, and there's a lot of interesting stuff to see. I'll try again...

Hi! Today I wanted to take up the challenge to really leave a lot of negative space for once. It is sooo difficult to find the right balance between the amount of base paint in combination with the amount of paint for the colors. You should always keep in mind that your design will stretch during spinning, which usually results in less negative space than I had actually intended. I succeeded qu...

Hi! I did this painting last weekend, and I wasn't sure about it at first. That's the bad luck of having an idea in your head, and when it turns out differently, I don't immediately like it at first. You're creating a lot of different effects. Do you have an additive to the paint?
Oh I'm sorry, but I think I answered you a little before that to a similar question on another video of mine! There is also a lot of description under the videos, and I use Australian floetrol for the cells! 😉
This is amazing. I'm gonna have to give this a try. You did an amazing job with this creation!!

Thank you so much!!
This is what I call being creative. Good work.
Thank you so much, it is much appreciated!!!
You have created very different and beautiful effects. I'm just curious about this; Do you use an additive other than acrylic paint?
I think you mean what I use to swipe with the palette knife? It is called a cell activator, but is a mix of Acrylic paint and Australian floetrol. I follow the principle of the Bloom technique here, where the white base (also called pillow) is the thickest in consistency, the colors just a little less thick, and the cell activator is the thinnest. It contains another ingredient (the Australian floetrol) which does make it heavier than the other paints. Which makes it sink and that's what creates the cells, thus the beautiful effects! I also tried to describe it in the description box below the video, I hope it's helpful to you. And if you don't know her yet, also check out Winterstromart, she invented this technique! Thank you!
Thank you very much, good work. Your benevolence is very valuable 👋👋👋
Let me ask you one more thing, what is the mixture ratio of folietrol and dye?
@@okanzegerek You're welcome, that's what this is for! To make the cell activator with Australian floetrol, I mix 1 part paint with about 1.5 or 2 parts floetrol. This also varies a bit by paint color because that consistency can vary. Amsterdam paint is known to work best. It also has to do with the density of the paint color, LeftBrainedArtist has a chart for this. But titanium white and oxide black work anyway. But choosing the ratio of paint and floetrol may also depend on the consistency of the colors you use. My mix is really, really thick. Many also use the ratio 1:3, so it's really finding what suits you, by varying and trying out!
