SKIING PORCUPINE RIDGE @ Loveland Ski Area! Area CLOSED for 24 Years! | Colorado Skiing | May 2024
มุมมอง 2207 หลายเดือนก่อน
Had a great Sunday in May for skiing. I absolutely love Loveland Ski Area. I got to ski an area of the mountain that is off the map, above the ski area boundary. It was last opened to the public 24 years ago. It was such a fun fun run. I wish I had more battery life in the Gopro to show more runs. Hopefully they open this up next year and it will change the game in CO for high alpine skiing in ...

First time in Erikson Bowl and I have to say I am in love! It takes a while for this section of mountain to open up but when it does it fires! This was a windy day with lots of wind buff but we made the most of it! Also had some fun lift line runs at the end! Like, subscribe, comment for more! Enjoy!

Just learning to ski mandatory air at Arapahoe Basin. It takes some gut to jump down small cliffs. Finally getting to do it now after 3 seasons in Colorado. Just playing around in Half Moon Glade. MASSIVE Front Range Snow Storm! Bluebird Day after POWDER Day!
มุมมอง 7569 หลายเดือนก่อน
All the front range resorts closed due to he heavy wet nature of the snow and horrible conditions Thursday. They opened Friday for an amazing blue bird powder day. Snow was very thick and heavy, but also wind effected, so it wasn't your normal Colorado powder day.

Healthy day of skiing
americans are so cringe whats with all the screaming and hollering during each run lmao
it's almost that time again
ITS THAT TIME AGAIN
The "Oh no...*laugh*" at the beginning, hilarious.
Wheres tomorrows adventure when we need him :(
what camera do you use?
GoPro 11s
I'ma be in the house tonight
Love me some schoolmarm
Those are some sick skis
Tresckow always has got the goods and it’s a fun and steep one. Personally my favorite run on the mountain. If you would have gone through that patrol gate, twin trees is a sick run.
You've got more courage than me lol. Btw what length skis do you have compared to your height and weight?
6'3", 215lbs skis are 110 Bents I believe 187 in length
Hey man, I just wanted to say I love your skiing style! What length skis do you have in relation to your height? (Which skis also?) Beyond stoked for the season!
6'3", 215lbs skis are 110 Bents I believe 187 in length, also run some 172, 99 width Mind benders
@tomorrowsadventure9471 yooo, we missed ya. Thanks for the info on the skis, I think I made the right choice on length then haha. Can't wait to see what you've got cooking up for the season ✌️
Yeah...the bunnys!
Great to see a 1997 detachable that still runs at 1100 fpm.
your camera continues to give me the most heebie jeebie moments on YT. feel like imma fall off a cliff at times. 😄 thanks for the vids. looks like you were what? only the 3rd person on the first run that day? noice.
Yea! Get there early and get fresh powder all morning!
Good job! 👏🏻 TAOS a 4 Letter word for Steep! Pictures and videos don’t do justice to just how steep this is when you’re actually doing it! I love Taos Ski Valley, it’s my Home Hill! Great video!
Yes sir that's my Rockies even though we suck
Hey you made this on my birthday
thats sick glad I found your channel! I was skiing Bennet's one weekend in May and saw some people coming down there, wonder if it was you! looks like you're on Mindbenders, which ones are those? I ride the 99ti most of the time.
“dashing through the snow in a pair of broken skis, all the ways we go, crashing into trees :D, the snow is turning red, it seems like i am dead, and now im in the hospital with stitches in my head :D oh, 911, 991, help is on da wayyy, o what fun it is to ride in an ambulance all day, HEY! 911, 911, help is on da way, oh what fun it is to ride in an ambulance all day :D” 💀
Nice. Where is this?
Why was it closed for 24 years. Hello from Casper Wyoming.
You know, I am not too sure, Ski Patrol and a couple locals all said it’s been decades, specifically 24 years. If I had to assume it’s because of liability issues with the resort. Old chief patrol used to open a lot of stuff skiers left on Chet’s dream. Some incidents happened and caused them to be sued. I am not sure if that’s the real reason. But it’s not due to snow coverage cause they’ve had some massive snow seasons where they could’ve opened before.
It’s shown above the ski area boundary on the ski map
So much snow damn
Rockies might not be good, but they also got one of the most amazing win songs, Rocky mountain way!!
is that keystone
Yea!
@@tomorrowsadventure9471 i more of a backside of keystone
@@LiamThomas-hg8kz yea. This specific run is real good for high speed PRs. Not a lot of beginners or even intermediates you might have to dodge on other runs
Your music choice is garbage
Isnt that Arapahoe Basin
OMG you’re right this is looking off Zuma cornice. I have a video above a rock outcrop in Erickson Bowl I thought this was. Wow good eye!
@@tomorrowsadventure9471 been skiing A-basin for my whole life so I know that place a lot
@@LongsYt thoughts on next years parking requirements?
@@tomorrowsadventure9471 I'm thinking it will be good. Might make Arapahoe Basin have even less people, Then it already does.
@@LongsYt while I agree, I think it’ll make it harder for me to decide where to go early on a weekend morning. Especially if regardless if I pay for a day or yearly pass I’ll have to reserve a spot. Two weeks out is problematic for me
This looks so fun
It prob is
I think ur the only one taking that line man
The skiers next to me were eyeballing that same line and asking about rocks but okay man
smooth jazz is great but this is a ski video
Its actually lofi but that’s neither here nor there 😉
Love your vids can you do a video skiing the west basin chutes
Yes! Whenever I get back there I would love to do West Blitz trees to Wonder Bowl. They were having a comp there when I was there last year and that area was closed off.
Thanks
That looks sick where is that btw
What camera are you recording with?
GoPro Max and a Hero 12
Sick shit
Yes
Beaut!
"Promo sm"
don't crash into the poles
buddy it’s pretty easy to do that i think he knows💀💀
Biggest clue is to not look that them. When I first started learning trees, and in a way moguls, when you are doing through them don’t look at them, look at where you want to go. Trust that your skis, body movements, and brain will guide you through. Takes practice for sure.
ask sonny bono that LOL@@tomorrowsadventure9471
its like zoolander, cant turn left
? Can’t tell if you are making unfunny jokes or being ignorant 🤔 cause last time I checked I am really, really… really ridiculously good looking
you should have gone back to the out back! I was there and had fresh tracks all day!!
Yea! With ruby not running I was worried Santiago would’ve been miserable. Was Bergman open?? Erickson looked so good on Monday on KSPs instagram haha
*Happy skier noises intensify*
When it’s sooOOooooOo good 🤤😆
A note: not sure why the last ~7 minutes has jumps in the footage. It’s on the TH-cam side of things as the video saved locally does not have that issue. Going to contact TH-cam support.
Holy heaven that doesn't even look like keystone so beautiful
It was so good. Keystone is probably a top 3 resort in Colorado. Might be a hot take, but it goes Crested butte, Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, and then Vail, BC, then Breck. Need to get to Telluride. I think that’ll bump into the top 5 for sure.
After a fresh storm snow can absorb up to 60% of noise simply because it dampens the sound waves.
Yup! It’s lovely! I’m more talking about how you can’t hear the crusty hard snow underneath haha
Can you tell where the drop ins are to runs like Banana, Flatiron, etc? I've only done Peel and did not do the traverse but I'm curious to do it this spring
yea so either, you use the lower traverse under Silver Queen that cross Upper Forest, Peel, and into Flatiron, then you ski down about 20 feet and stay skiers left to find the next traverse into banana, and funnel. OR go up the High lift, and go skiers right at the top, go down banana high, careful of rocks here, and then use the banana high traverse to scoot around the couple cliffs/rock out crops.
@@tomorrowsadventure9471 That makes sense. I remember the traverse through Upper Forest so instead of dropping in, it sounds like you just proceed. Lower traverse sounds like a good starting point to explore the area and then I can always do the upper traverse on a subsequent run. I heard that one is sketchy. Also heard there's a good run just to the left of the mid High Lift line that takes you over into some nice chutes on the Headwall. Can't wait!
What is the music at the beginning of your video?!?
Alien Tongue, Duke Harrington
Sry if I'm late but I was wondering in you opinion just how hard are the windows? I'm an intermediate skier and I want to know if I should try them out.
I'm an early advanced skier and I just skied them the first time the other day. I'd say they weren't quite as challenging as I'd expected, but still very challenging with a lot of downed trees and rocks to avoid depending on the line you take. I'd recommend trying some easier trees like Uneva off Bergman express or Wolverine in the Outback to see how you feel before jumping into the windows.
Really depends on how comfortable you are in trees. I would work in a few other areas of the mountain like near/under Peru on the east side of A51. Or some trees off Outback like Wildcat and in between big horn and elk run. These are pretty consequential trees in the windows. A bit steeper and some places where you could get cliffed out. @joshlatour has some good tips
How is that traverse on the way to Funnel? Hoping to hit it soon
Not bad at all!
@@tomorrowsadventure9471 sounds good. I'll have to find out soon enough. Looking forward to some exploring.
