Putting Left Over Pegboard Hooks to Good Use
When I purchased a pegboard accessory set www.amazon.ca/dp/B08L9Y2HMH I ended up with a lot of left over parts.
I took a few minutes to model up a holder that would let me glue a cup magnet www.amazon.ca/dp/B07YBBCJ5W to the back and insert a hook on the front. This made use of the hook on my steel door.

I really enjoyed the experience. Our instructor w...
Operating Motorcycle Lift with a Windshield Wiper Motor

I posted to r/machining to ask whether a windshield wiper motor would be able to operate a motorcycle scissor lift. The advice was super helpful. I decided to pull the trigger and buy the motor because if it's good enough for droids, it's good enough for this. The 3D printed parts were modelled in Fusion360 and printed on my Eryone ThinkerSE. The parts were printed at a fast setting and will ne...
Buddy Device Housing Design and Components Assembly

For my book in progress, Electronics for Props & Cosplay, I have a goal for a customizable helmet. I purchased a pack of royalty-free helmets from CGTrader. Setting Up An Adafruit Proto Shield To Upload To An ATTiny84

There is a project I am working on in which I intend to use the ATTiny84. You can program this IC (Integrated Circuit) using an Arduino UNO. I was able to accomplish this with a breadboard. However when I need to repeat a task, I prefer something with more stable connections. On a breadboard, a slipped wire can make things unpredictable. Can adafruit circuit boards layer two sound effects at the same time? Like can I play one long sound effect and then play another short sound effect in the middle of the long sound? (All with pressing one button of course)
No I am afraid they are limited one sound per intereaction.
I demand a refund of 2min 50sec. wtf was that? why doesn't anyone ever explain what that is? who cares if you can solder, so can a child

In the machine shop world we have the term "Order Of Operations". It makes the difference of a pleasurable experience to one that leaves you cussing at yourself.. Your soldering method Transposes this philosophy to the electronics bench. Leaving the connectors connected to the sacrificial ribbon and then soldering them satisfies that philosophy. I don't have a JST crimping tool yet so I soldered them the "much harder" way! I used an old steel brad that fit the connector snugly and hammered it into a board. It held the connector while soldering the wire to it. My method is much more work than yours but it does have a positive property. While the steel brad will not easily accept solder (that's a good thing here) it does sink heat away from the female aperture. Solder will defy gravity, as it seeks where the heat is and that's where my iron is too. If you're ever forced to solder one again try your method with a brad or better yet, a drill bit. It This method does a good job of discouraging solder from migrating into an area you don't want it to go. Wakodahatchee Chris
Well done Hugh! I've seen you speak so many times over the years and you are always making the audience laugh without even trying. But having seen this, I can see how learning the craft of writing and telling jokes has elevated your innate talent. I truly enjoyed watching this.

I'm trying to use Attiny85 with 2 pieces of 74hc595 for my dot matrix 8x8. It doesn't work. When I switch to Arduino UNO, it works without any problem. I already burned bootloader and test blink sketch with Attiny85. Please help.
Are you able to record the setup and upload it? If you followed my steps, you shouldn't be having any issues. It usually comes down reversing latch and clock or something like that.
@@hughqelliott I just found out ATTiny85 has only 5 I/O pins. I need 6.
Soldering makes it brittle so bigfoot can brake it off no problem. It makes my shorts all twisted my good sr. . Lol ! I see the age of this video and had to have some fun . You did a great job !
lol. Yeah. I posted an update once I bought the correct crimpers. If I wasn’t learning I’d be wasting my time.
That bgm is so nostalgic
How can you make the switch do on/off
That's all the switch does, really. But it's not a toggle. This type of switch is a momentary on/off
how do you turn off the recorder
This is awesome, thank you so much for filming this! if I want to run this on my large speaker can I use a bluetooth module instead of the amp and solder it straight too the board?
I don’t know. Do you have a link to the module.
you are a bad teacher. how come you assume we know how to do stuffs. why then do we want to learn from you?
What in this video is missing for you to succeed?
Cant find the file with the h4n mixed track though. Only the individual tracks. Fruatrating.
Can we buy this on AliExpress??
you can buy it from the creator www.tindie.com/products/handheld-gaming/retro-esp32-x-assembled/
Hello shouldn't the microphone hole be at top to let in audio?
You can solder the pins however you like and what fits your project. While soldering the pins, it is a good idea to put a small piece of tape on top of the microphone hole to avoid any flux or solder splash.
Can it go with android phone
Does anyone know if you can also run LEDs with this ?
Thank you for this video. I used it as a base to create an imitation smoke detector for a son. I completed the project last night, and I am very happy with it. I hope this will suffice that I can stop testing my 9 smoke detectors twice a day every day. or more correctly, lifting him to test each smoke detector.
Perfect use case!
I must ask, why is +5V connected to PWMA/B? is it just to get a steady rpm?
The PWM pins are part of the controller logic, which is +5V in the case of the Arduino UNO. At least, I think that's why.
me too i like to solder 1st and crimp after 😉
Promo-SM 🎊
I don't know what i am doing wrong, but i have mine wired the same and when i attach the power supply the soundboard doesn't show it is getting power ans i hear a squelling sound from my speaker
That has all the earmarks of a connection issue. A squealing sound from the speaker is a signal problem from the board. Is it possible you reversed the power connection to the amp with the signal connection?
@@hughqelliott I switched the power supply and it worked, I was trying to power it with a 3v coin cell battery so maybe that was the issue?
Found one of these bears at a value village in Toronto. So I need the other bear to get it to do anything? I saw the electronic box in the back and was totally confused until I saw your video. I’m still confused how it works 😂
That's really strange. I only made 20 for their campaign. As far as I understood it, they'd retrieved them all. You'd not only need the other bear, you'd need the specific bear it was paired with. Add to that, the board used in the bear requires a card and account to actually connect to the network and the card was deactivated shortly after the campaign ended. It ending up at Value Village is quite funny. I wonder how many others are out in the wild? If you think you'll toss it, I'd love to have it.
@@hughqelliott From a contest forum link I found it implied 100 pairs could be won by sharing a story/hashtag? I assumed someone who won donated them to value village. Wish I had found both 😂. Cool project!
@@Havebikewillride there were bears made that don't have all the components of mine and just lit up. maybe that's the version you have?
Possibly! This one has a white box in the back I opened it assuming it was a battery box but it just had some electronics inside. From the white box was a small cable, not connected to anything. I don’t see where a battery would go. It looks like there is a mechanism in the stomach you can press, similar to your video
@@Havebikewillrideok! That makes more sense. Yeah the white box is from the mass-produced version. I made a really limited-edition (like I said, I made 20). You should only need to add batteries to light up the bowtie with the button on the front of the box.
What voltage will it work up to . I need to convert 45v to 5v , I know 7805 is only rated to 35v have you tried to run on higher voltage?
Nah bro even it it works it will probably burn out in a minute.
1:17 it’s 5pin usb
Thanks man! Very useful info
@hughqelliott love it! Gota have your base tools!
Cool!
Took a few tries to get the hang of it, thanks for letting me know I'm doing it right.
I still mess it up occasionally but it is 100% a better solution than soldering.

Great video! I noticed you're using silicone wires for your connections. I'm interested in the specifications of these wires - specifically, what AWG (American Wire Gauge) are they? I'm planning a similar project . Thanks in advance!
I've been using 20AWG. I think maybe I could use a thinner gauge but it's worked so far.
Thanks a lot.

So many memories playing this and all the other lucky charms games as a kid. Wish there was still a way to somehow play them. Thank you for making them!
Looks epic!
I have all the correct equipment for crimping, but there are times when I want solder and crimping. Then I apply a coat of solder or solder paste to the bare wire before crimping, and reflow with a heat gun after crimping. The crimp is solid, and the wire is soldered to the pin.
I have found something similar. If the use case means someone other than me is disconnecting and reconnecting plugs, I might add solder for strength.
I noticed you connected the mono amplifier to the left speaker off of the FX board at first, then you changed it over to the right speaker later in the video. Was there a reason for that?
i might have exported the audio to be right channel only. i don't recall, sorry.
when i plug the adafruit into the pc do i need to remove power from the Vin on the side of the board? i dont want to give it double voltage and blow it.
Yes, correct! Remove the VIN
I remember playing this game, although I can't recall if I beat it or not, as well as the only other lucky charms game I remember quest for the new charm. Glad to see that proof of these old games still exists, when so many have been redacted even before the Flash shutdown! Thanks for making this!
I built so many games at that time and lost them all. If I find any more I'll definitely post them. Thanks so much.
@@hughqelliott Thanks, hopefully you can find them somewhere, others I just remembered were Prehistoric Peril and Keep Me Mini.
Nice, clear usage, thanks! 1) What gauge of wire are you using here? 2) Exactly what JST connectors are those (e.g., jst-xh)?
You're welcome! 1. I think it's 20awg. 2. JST-XH, yes
