I wish I was. But I studied at a university in the north of Finland. I still remember the weekly student parties and going out when it was -30 degrees. Would want to come back one day and live for a longer time there. But for me things can get very lonely pretty fast. So, let's see what the future awaits.. and you, do you live in Finland?

Same same :) A bit difficult to understand when people speak fast. So, I keep to English always. Like now :D

@@owlfinnish Me too:) But in Finland I try to speak more Finnish and ask that people speak Finnish to me too. But not on the phone ;) Muuten en ymmärtäisi mitään. Suomen kielessä on ilmaus 'olen ihan pihalla'. That's how I feel when people quickly speak Finnish to each other and I listen to them...

Motivates me to continue on the days when nobody's watching the videos and I think to myself if all this work will ever be worth it after a full time job. Yes, I have a few channels and maybe more coming up so I will tell you for sure when I finish. Just curious, are you a polyglot learning so many languages? Do you live in the EU?

@@owlfinnish and by the way , the part of motivation that you've spoken of, i was not sure if i was gonna keep learning finnish that is how i find your channel looking for finnish phrases and then for once i strike gold and kept me motivate of learning it, cause we don't have that much finnish phrases on youtube specially as rich as yours , so keep it up mate, for now your channel is a bit hard to find specially due to this crappy engine search of youtube that recomends everything but the things that you looking for, but it'll more and more people like me come and help totally be worthwhile for both sides ;)

Personally, I would study all the languages in the world if I had time :)

I checked. I think it is taking the context of the previous line into account because it's connected, and just removed the "Why?" 😀 I'll remove the line from the video. Thanks for pointing that out.

@eastfinn Or maybe keep it, if it still makes sense and it's easy to see the connection. The literal translation for "Why?" is of course wrong. What do you suggest?

Thank you for sharing this. I am very happy to hear that my work is making a difference. Just remember that learning a language takes patience. There will be times when you think your language level isn't improving, even after working so hard on your language skills, but believe me, if you keep on learning, there will soon be an "Aha!" moment when someone says something in Finnish and you understand it, and that is an amazing moment when you finally realise that everything you have worked for has not been in vain. Sorry for the long and boring comment, I just remembered my language journey. For me, the "Aha!" moment was when an elderly woman asked me for help and I was able to help her because I understood her perfectly.

@@owlfinnish There is nothing like isn't!!! when you have that moment that you finally realize "i got this, i understand"!!!! i am looking foward to have this moment with finnish too, holpefully haha

Hi Shan, just two ways of saying the same thing. Some people would speak differently, some would use the same sentence for both. Languages are complicated in the sense that there's no one correct answer for most sentences except the most basic ones. Main thing is people understand you and you understand them.

Hi Raynald, I try to keep the grammatical structure of most phrases to be within the A1-A2 level but use common conversations 2 people would have to keep the vocabulary relevant.

@@owlfinnish Sorry I see your point now. Before I wondered what was the use of a sentence like He speaks to dead people without considering the grammar.
