Suzuki RG500 120hp winter warm up
Once in the winter warming up my RG to keep carbs clean from petrol residues. Giving it some revs after getting it in normal temp. Warm day, only 0C and some snowing. Had to be really careful because it was slippery even with the mat underneath. In the end closing fuel valve and after that let it run until it almost died.

VW 1303S 1974 1100cc kompura ahdin. Tehoja tiputettu vähentämällä ennakoita, pehmeä rajoitin 9500rpm, kova 10500rpm. Moottori toimi tällä kertaa moitteetomasti, mutta vähän ennen nopeimman kierroksen loppua vaihdelaatikko alkaa metelöimään rikkonaisen laakerin vuoksi. Kaikkiaan kokemusta tältä radalta on nyt viiden kierroksen ajan, joten ajolinjoissa/jarrupaikoissa on vielä paljon parannettavaa...

1100cc kompura turbo Lauantain finaalin jälkimmäinen lähtö punalipun jälkeen kolmannesta ruudusta. Ensin kuvattuna etukamerasta ja siihen perään vielä ton meidän päämekaanikon takakamerasta. Takakamerassa on GPS-nopeuskin, mutta on kyllä pahasti viiveinen (kierroslukumittarista nopeus 8krpm=211kmh, 8,5krpm=224kmh, 9krpm=237kmh isoimmalla vaihteella). 1100cc kompura turbo Kolmosruutu lauantain finaaliin ja ahtoputket korjattu. Punainen lippu lähtökolarointien seurauksena. Pitää mainita myös toimitsijan menehtyneen sairaskohtaukseen lähdön aikana. Surunvalittelut omaisille. RIP.

1100cc kompura turbo Tässä kuplan ainokaiseksi jäänyt aika-ajokierros. Jos lämppärikierrosta ei lasketa, niin kaikkiaan neljäs kierros tällä radalla ikinä, ja tänä viikonloppuna eka. Nopeusmittaria ei ole, mutta isoimmalla vaihteella 8krpm =211kmh, 8,5krpm = 224kmh, 9krpm = 237kmh. Nostelee puolestavälistä pitkällä takasuoralla, kun epäilee itsetehdyn kampiakselin kestävyyttä. Mänttärin kupla lauantain finaalissa takakamerasta nähtynä. Ruutu kaksi ja sadekeli. Sadekummeista ei minkäänlaista aikaisempaa kokemusta kuskilla saati tiimillä, eikä näistä edes ehditty ajaa pintaa rikki, kun ne vasta edellisenä päivänä saatiin. Kuplan vetopito on tunnetusti mainio, mutta alkukisa menee sivuttaispidon etsimisessä muottiliukkaalla renkaalla. Hyvä vetopito mahdollistaa kakkospa...

Takakamera Mänttärin kuplasta. Fiatin 1.6L moottorista pienennetty 1.1 litraiseksi sääntöjen vuoksi (mahdollistaa minimipainoksi 953kg, kisapaino kuitenkin noin 100kg suurempi) ruuvi turbo. Have owned this for some 25 years now. Painted it myself 1998 (it was painted completely red by previous owner) and haven't even waxed it since. Has been sitting in my garage since 2009. Only something like 150km after full engine overhaul and tuning by GHN-racing (still 500cc). Changed fuel lines, cleaned air filters, put air to the tires as they were totally flat, changed coolant and 2T oil, ...

Uusi rata meille ja takana pari kierrosta kaasaritestiä, aika-ajot (3/11) ja ensimmäinen erä (2/11). Yleiset ja junnut samassa lähdössä, mikä oli hyvä opin paikka tiimillemme. Lämpötila taisi olla siinä viiden asteen tienoilla ja Aurinko paistoi koko päivänä vain hetken. Radalla ehkä karkein kokemamme asvaltti, joten kumin sai lämpimäksi tälläkin kelillä, ihme kyllä. Lähtö masterina ja siinä pojalla hieman hermoilua alkuun. Kamera taaksepäin, koska CUP-katsastuksessa hylättiin etukameramme vaarallisena. Täytyypä keksiä sille uusi paikka. Tästä erästä vielä ensimmäisenä maaliin, mutta sitten kulku alkoikin jo hiipua väärään suuntaan menneiden säätöjen ansiosta.

Aika-ajot jäi väliin työkiireiden (minun, ei pojan) vuoksi, joten ekaan erään perältä. Rata oli märkä ja alla parivuotta seisseet kivikovat sliksit (kilpailujohdon määräyksestä sliksit kaikilla). Maalissa kuudes, joten tokaan erään hieman paremmat asetelmat. Junnut ja yleiset sekä KF6 yhteislähtönä.

Kuudes lähtöruutu ja rata edelleen kostea. Kaikilla sliksit alla kilpailujohdon määräämänä. Maalissa kolmas ja finaaliin viides lähtöruutu erien yhteenlaskuna. Junnut, yleiset ja KF6 yhteislähtönä. Lopussa mukava pusu kerhokaverille.

Olimme radalla ensikertaa pojan sairastamisen vuoksi, joten aamun kaasaritestin videota en edes viitsi tänne ladata, sen verran karua katsottavaa nuo ensi kierrokset ovat. :) Aika-ajossa auto sammu ekalle kierrokselle kaasarivikaan, joten tähän esifinaaliin lähtöruutu viimeinen eli 7. ja kierroksia alla kaikkiaan kymmenen. Viimeiseksi jäätiin myös tässä erässä, mutta nyt enää 0,6s kärkeä hitaam...

W201 with OM606. Nice hot tires this time more boost (3,8bar) and fueling maxxed out. 1,509s 60ft time was excellent and half way down the track we were already 0,6s ahead on our previous 11,43s pass that day (7,1s @660ft). Then an unfortunate change miss from 3rd to 4th @~250m down the track due to a mild lost of traction toward to the end of 3rd gear and engine totalled by overrev. 11,689s/15...

W201 with OM606. Cold tires. Low boost (3,0bar) and low fueling so maybe around 550hp. Extra passenger in the Saab... 2,0s(60ft), 7,7s(660ft), 11,43s/208,52kmh Weight 1500kg with full interior and tow bar.

eikö pien pannu vois jengaa enempikin , volvokin 2.3l sen 9000 tarvittaessa ?
Laskennallisesti uskaltaisi kierrättää ainakin 12000rpm, mutta eipä siihen ole toistaiseksi ollut tarvetta, eikä oikein uskallustakaan. Itse tehty kampiakseli on ainoa laatuaan ja sen CNC-ohjelma tuhoutui epäonnisesti, joten turha ottaa riskiä. Myöskään nykyinen vaihdelaatikko ei kestä sitä mitä tuolta saa irti näilläkin kierroksilla. Parempi pitää rajoitin matalalla ja ajaa enemmän, kun sitä korjaamista riittää ihan ilman yrittämistäkin.🙂

It goes a lot slower than it looks :though even though the engine was ripped out through the gears it’s still read 0 miles an hour!😂

I bought a GSX-R1100 in the very early 90s that was used in production racing in the United States and the owner put it back to Street legal and returned. to New Zealand With the bike The speedo was miles per hour. and I got pulled up, and when I showed the police that it was mile an hour and not kilometres an hour and I had just not paid attention accurately to the mental speed conversion: with a little bit of fast talking and a bit of mild exaggeration , He did actually let me off.👍😊

One my main regrets was never owning an RG500, I've had some awsome bikes but thats a dream.
As the current owner of an '85 Yamaha RZV500R, all I can say is "holy crap!" Well, that and, "I'm thankful for my paved driveway." 😉
I really love to live in the countryside, but yeah, the road could be better for sure.

It's an old race bike converted back to road legal. It has almost nothing original on it anymore, so I don't think mile counter would be of any importance if I someday decided to sell it... Which I'm not going to do. This year haven't ridden it at all, last year maybe 250km.
Oh, and it's not an original speedo anymore as it had some scratches on it. I think I have it somewhere though. Also have a more modern white faced analog/digital speedo for it, but let's see if I ever install it.

Siellähän se. Kaveri kaipasi hieman apua pikkuvolgan ratasäätöihin ja sattui kerrankin olemaan vapaata sopivasti. Tänä kesänä noin 300km Gammamopoilua takana.

It's an old race bike converted back to road use. Hard to tell what the real mileage is even with working odometer. It's working so that's good enough for me.

Didn't disconnect speedo, it just doesn't work after 12 years for some reason. This is an old race bike, so who knows what the real mileage is. Also can't upload anything here with working speedo, as police might get too excited...
Rode Kawi 740 triples my whole life. Wanted the 500 suzy but none available back then. I remember my buddy killing the kawi 750 GPZ turbo with his 500 suzy. Power to weight was insane. 2 strokes forever.
What an astonishingly fast and light bike that was and is. Still crave the smell of the blue smoke.

Yep. I actually made a 100km roundtrip a week ago. I filled it up and rode 58km (from Google maps) and filled it up again. 11,39L, so 19,64L/100km or 14mpg(UK). I think my average speed was around 30kmh higher this time.
These bikes are like Toyotas bullet proof engine!!

I’d swap my series 1 GSX1100 for one of those in a Heartbeat …. They were an Awesome Ride. Give it a real road with plenty of bends and they are untouchable … 240 BHP per Litre … hard to beat. They brought in the Four stroke era because they wanted a deeper exhaust note …

I did. Later found out there was a corroded pin in one connector. That solved some other electrical issues too.
