Thank you for watching. We didn't have any problems at all with the food temperature at dinner times. At breakfast though, in the main dining rooms, the tea, coffee & toast were often not hot enough. Have a great cruise! We really liked Ventura and are cruising on her again in May '26, we've booked the same cabin that we had in '23.

Thank you. We spent much of the cruise mulling over which ship we preferred and couldn't chose 🙂 They're very different in style. Iona is bright, light open & modern, and Ventura is obviously older, more classic with darker woods and a cosier feel. We thought the cabins were more spacious on Ventura but the furniture and fittings aren't as modern as Iona. I know the small tv's on Ventura are an issue for some people and the shower curtains instead of screens, neither of which bothered us at all. A big plus for us on our warm weather Canaries cruise on Ventura was the enormous outside balcony space. Deck C balconies along the sides are significantly bigger than other decks, I don't know how big the aft view ones are. We have booked this cabin again for a 2026 cruise. @@richsarah4214 Many thanks for the in depth reply. You've just about sold me on Ventura... 🙂. As I'm sure you know, P&O do some good deals to the canaries in November/December time... I'm eyeing up a 12 nighter for Dec 2025 on Ventura. I enjoy my days at sea and love a day on the balcony with a book watching the world and waves go by so I think the ship and cabin might really suit me. One thing I did miss a little on Iona (as stunning as it was) is the classic feel of older ships so it's nice to know Ventura has this feel. I didn't really like the big plastic screens Iona has on the outside decks, much prefer a proper open promenade deck where you can lean over the railings. @@Tom-z9k1j I hope you enjoy whatever you end up booking :-) We've only done 3 cruises so far, Iona, Ventura and then Britannia a few months ago, so we don't have lots of experience and other ships to compare it to, 2 more booked though, back on Britannia & Ventura ! We aren't able to take advantage of off peak deals as we have to take our holidays in the school holidays, our daughter works term time and I'm childcare for our grandchildren. We really liked the prom on Ventura, it has a kind of clam shell section at the front up a small flight of stairs. The only downside for me was the smoking area was in a section of the prom and as you can probably hear in the video, I had a croaky throat and the smoke aggravated it each time I walked by!

Our first cruise was on Iona too and like you, we were instantly hooked. We're on Britannia next year too, this time in August visiting the Med. Hope you enjoy yourselves.

Yes to all of the above weather wise! We had a couple of dry warmish days, a couple of colder wet days and a beautiful sunny day in Norway plus mostly nice weather on the sea days. We booked May in the hope of seeing snow on the tops of the mountains and weren't disappointed. We are going back at the end of May 2024 on Britannia. We didn't buy much food ashore, we had lunch onboard the ship every day except one and that day we bought a pastry each in Geiranger and they cost £6 for 2, they were delicious! I think the cost will have gone up for 2023 but in 2022 we paid £79 each for the Troll Cars at Briksdal Glacier and £59 each for the ferry from Hellesylt to Geiranger and back again. We spent £70 on the ship internet package and roughly £180 for the 2 of us together on soft drinks/alcohol/coffees/one dinner in Sindhu/ice creams from Ripples. We loved it and have 2 more cruises booked now.

@@richsarah4214 thanks for the helpful reply! We’re vegetarian and never cruised before. Good to know you can lunch on board and not have to worry about food ashore. I’ll be treating my parents so it’s useful to know how much to budget. I’m thinking of booking the 7 day fjord cruise in May on the Britannia so this has all been very helpful! :)

@@Thevoyagingvirgo No problem 😊 We are actually booked to go back to Norway in May ‘24 on Britannia. Our cruise on Iona was our first cruise and we didn’t know what to expect at all.

Hi. We docked in Hellesylt & took a ferry into Geiranger. It was one of the ship's excursions; not the cheapest, but well worth it.

Don't take P&O, they have now cancelled this port. Not sure why?

We had mixed weather. We had some lovely sunny days and some colder wet days. The day we went on the troll cars at Olden it rained hard and we got soaked, still had a great day though. My advice would be take layers & include a raincoat and waterproof shoes. We are going back to Norway in May 2024.

We didn't hear any noise from The Quays at all. We did hear a faint bass noise from the Club House music but not loud enough to disturb us. The main noise we noticed was the automatic door to the promenade below us on deck 8, it didn't bother us and we would book the cabin again or one very close to it. The conservatory mini suites on deck 9 are great cabins.
